Snapchat is implementing a new policy that will require users to pay for storing more than 5GB of content within its Memories feature. This change impacts users who have accumulated photos and videos beyond the free storage limit. Originally launched in 2016, Snapchat’s Memories feature provided free storage for user-generated content, which is typically designed to disappear after 24 hours. Now, users will need to subscribe to a paid plan once their 5GB limit is reached to maintain access to their saved Memories.

Snapchat stated that the platform did not anticipate the significant growth of the Memories feature when it was first launched. To accommodate the needs of its community and ensure users can continue storing their content, Snapchat is introducing new Memories Storage Plans. These plans offer storage options of 100GB or 250GB, accessible through the Snapchat+ monthly plan. A Platinum plan is also available, providing a substantial 5TB of storage.

The available storage plans and their pricing are as follows:

* 100GB storage plan: $1.99 per month (approximately Rs 165)
* Snapchat+ with 250GB storage: $3.99 per month (approximately Rs 330)

For users looking to manage their content without subscribing, Snapchat provides a temporary storage period of 12 months for those who exceed the free storage limit. During this period, users have the option to download their content or opt for a paid subscription. Here are the steps to save Memories content directly to a device:

1. Open the Snapchat app.
2. Go to ‘Memories’ by tapping the photo icon.
3. Press and hold the Snap or Snaps you wish to download.
4. Tap ‘Export’.
5. Choose the location where you want to save your Snap.

Snapchat is implementing a new policy that will require users to pay for storing more than 5GB of content within its Memories feature. This change marks a shift from the platform’s original offering, which provided free storage for photos and videos shared for 24 hours. Users will now need to subscribe to continue accessing their saved content once they exceed the 5GB limit. Snapchat has introduced new “Memories Storage Plans,” offering 100GB or 250GB of storage. To access this, users need to subscribe through the Snapchat+ monthly plan. Meanwhile, there is also a Platinum plan, offering a massive 5TB of storage. Snapchat has stated the need to ensure the community can continue storing Memories over the long term prompted the introduction of the new plans. However, Snapchat provides 12 months of temporary storage to users who exceed the free storage limit allowing them to either download content or opt for a paid subscription.

Here are the steps to save Memories content directly to a device:

Step 1: Open the Snapchat app.
Step 2: Go to ‘Memories’.
Step 3: Press and hold the Snap or Snaps to download.
Step 4: Tap ‘Export’.
Step 5: Choose a save location.
