In a bold move promoting regional equity, Gujarat has chosen its brand-new Vav-Tharad district for the prestigious state-level Republic Day function this year. The 77th edition on January 26 will brim with patriotism and community spirit at Malupur’s helipad field opposite the fresh court premises.

At 9 AM sharp, Governor Acharya Devvrat alongside CM Bhupendra Patel will hoist the tricolor and take the parade salute. Cultural extravaganzas and dazzling police drills will captivate attendees, fostering a deep sense of national unity.

This innovative tradition of rotating venues was pioneered by PM Narendra Modi during his time as Gujarat CM, evolving into a key strategy for decentralizing major celebrations and boosting local involvement.

Beyond Vav-Tharad, festivities ripple across the state. Deputy CM Harsh Sanghvi honors Makarba in Ahmedabad, while ministers descend on taluka seats statewide.

Key highlights: Kanu Desai in Chikhli (Navsari), Jitu Vaghasi in Jetpur (Rajkot), Rishikesh Patel in Mansa (Gandhinagar), Kunvarji Bavaliya in Ranavav (Porbandar), Naresh Patel in Umargam (Valsad), Arjun Modhwadia in Govind Guru-Limbdi (Dahod), Pradyum Vaja in Himmatnagar (Sabarkantha), and Ramanbhai Solanki in Thasra (Kheda).

The ministerial tour continues with Ishwarsinh Patel at Ekta Nagar (Kevadia), Manisha Vakil in Bodeli (Chhota Udepur), Parshottam Solanki in Talala (Gir Somnath), Kantilal Amrutiya in Bhuj (Kutch), Ramesh Katara in Halol (Panchmahal), Darshanaben Vaghela in Wadhwan (Surendranagar), Kaushik Vekariya in Vallabhipur (Bhavnagar), Pravin Mali in Visnagar (Mehsana), Jayram Gamit in Ahwa (Dang), Tribhuvan Changa in Khambha (Amreli), Kamlesh Patel in Vaghodia (Vadodara), Sanjay Sinh Mahida in Khambhat (Anand), PC Kadana in Baranda (Mahisagar), Swarupji Thakor in Shankheshwar (Patan), and Rivaba Jadeja in Garhada (Botad).

Nine taluka collectors step up too: in Meghraj (Aravalli), Ogad (Banaskantha), Amod (Bharuch), Bhanvad (Devbhumi Dwarka), Kalavad (Jamnagar), Kesod (Junagadh), Tankara (Morbi), Mandvi (Surat), and Uchchal (Tapi).

Gujarat’s Republic Day blueprint not only commemorates the 1950 Constitution adoption but also reinforces democratic values through pervasive participation, setting a model for inclusive national observances.
