  • Police seize eight live bombs in Bihar’s Vaishali

    VAISHALI: Police seized eight live bombs from a village in Bihar’s Vaishali district on Sunday, four days before panchayat polls in the area, an officer said.

    The bombs were seized from Javaj village under the jurisdiction of Mahnar police station and defused, he said.

    “These bombs were immediately defused by a team of local policemen who reached the spot soon on receipt of information. The police have started a thorough probe into the matter. The police are already on high alert in view of the coming panchayat polls in the area. All live bombs were kept in a plastic bag”, said Sub-Inspector Manoj Kumar.

    Further investigation is on, he said, adding that some people are being questioned.

  • Indian origin individuals in US donate two oxygen concentrators to Vaishali PHC

    PATNA: A group formed by individuals of Indian origin in the US donated two oxygen concentrators to a Primary Health Centre in Vaishali district.

    Settled in the US, Sanjay Gupta, Manika Agrawal, Ankit Agarwal, Chaitali, Vikas Malik and Kavindra Taliyan formed a voluntary group called “CovidCare4U.Org” in Madison to help people and health care centres located in rural areas of India that provide free treatment to Covid-19 patients. 

    So far they have donated two oxygen concentrators to the PHC based in Vaishali’s Belsar.

    These good Samaritans who are settled in different parts of the country raise funds, and arrange oxygen concentrators which are shipped directly to different parts of India.

    CA Abhishek Raj aka Raja Bhaiya said that the two equipments will benefit at least three to four lakh people in the area. Raja Bhaiya who had contested in the last Assembly Elections from Vaishali, had approached the team of covidcare4u.org through Binit Prasad later requested the group to extend a helping hand to the residents of Vaishali.

    “Taking into account the possibility of a third wave of Covid-19, the PHC will require ICU beds, ambulance and other essential amenities. We are arranging necessary facilities for the residents of Vaishali,” he said.

  • 28 vaccine express vehicles flagged off for rural areas in Bihar’s Vaishali

    PATNA: The vaccination against COVID-19 infection for people above 45 age group has been given a boost up on Wednesday when District Magistrate Udita Singh, well performing IAS officer, flagged off the Vaccination Express vehicles.

    There are 1572 villages under 16 blocks in district neigbouring Patna, which will get direct vaccination accessibility in their remote pockets with the mobility of Vaccination Express.

    “Altogether 28 Vaccination Express vans with the Covid vaccine now at your doorstep with trained health workers,” the DM stated, adding that the vaccination will cover the people of above 45 of age group.

    Besides this, vaccination at sites both in urban and rural areas for the people above 18-44 age group and others goes on regularly under the direct monitoring of district magistrate herself.

    “We are moving towards a victory over this pandemic through mass vaccination ensuring that no one should be left out from being vaccinated,” she added.

    At present, there are 641 active cases after 136 deaths reported in Vaishali since the outbreak of pandemic in 2020. Around 12,381 people have also recovered at different treatment centres. This is the district which shares daily availability of beds and other medical facilities through social media and other modes of communication to the people.

    According to official sources, more than 3,28,586 people, including 2,75,539 people taking first dose, have been vaccinated in Vaishali so far.
