  • High Court notice regarding global tender, demand from state government to buy vaccine directly from foreign vaccine companies

Regarding the issue of global tender, the High Court has issued a notice to the government and sought a reply in 7 days. The court has sought a response from the government on the PIL filed by High Court lawyer Shailendra Dubey.
In the petition, a global tender has been issued and a demand has been made to buy the vaccine directly from foreign vaccine producers. In the petition, the state government has been asked to issue a global tender. It has also been said in the petition that keeping in mind the third wave, the government should take a quick decision on issuing global tables.
In view of the huge shortage of Kovid 19 vaccine in the country, many states have started preparing to order it through global tender from other countries of the world. The central government is also encouraging the states for this. The UP government has issued a global tender and has become the first state to do so.
The Uttar Pradesh government has issued a global tender for four crore vaccine doses. According to media reports, the Uttar Pradesh government has also placed an order to buy 50 lakh vaccines from Serum and Bharat Biotech. Apart from this, the government will buy 4 to 5 crore doses of vaccine through global tender.
The government has also announced on Monday that it will order the vaccine from global tender. On Tuesday, the Telangana government has also said that it will issue a global tender for the purchase of the Kovid vaccine.
The Maharashtra government has also indicated that efforts will be made to procure the vaccine internationally. Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia also said that the Delhi government will issue a global tender for the Kovid vaccine.
The Karnataka government has also announced that it will order 20 million doses of vaccine from global tenders so that the work of vaccinating people between the ages of 18 and 44 can be completed.
Significantly, India is one of the largest markets in the world in terms of Kovid vaccine. Therefore, there is a good business opportunity here for the companies making vaccines. More than 260 crore doses will be required to vaccinate about 130 crore population here. So all the major vaccine companies will bid very cheaply to capture this huge market. In UP alone, the number of people between the ages of 18 and 44 is 9 crore. Similarly, people above 45 years are about 4.3 crores.
Global tender is actually a tender issued for companies from countries around the world. It is released by the concerned department on its website or through reputed national-international media. It is also released on several websites related to global tenders. Global tender is issued so that the process of procurement is transparent and everyone is given a chance.
Through this, international companies are invited to bid for the supply of goods. The contract for supply is awarded to the company whose bid is the lowest.
The UP government has issued a global tender only last week and has become the first state to do so. The UP government will announce the name of the winner of this tender by the end of May.
