Uttarakhand, known as Devbhoomi, boasts timeless spiritual treasures, and among them shines the Jhula Devi Temple in Ranikhet, Almora. Famous nationwide for its folklore and rituals, this Durga shrine sees an influx of pilgrims, particularly during Navratri.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami brought fresh attention to it via a social media video post. Detailing its allure, he noted, ‘A hub of endless faith, Jhula Devi is marked by countless bells dedicated by fulfilled devotees.’ He emphasized Navratri’s special pujas, inviting all to experience Maa’s grace upon visiting Ranikhet.

Rooted in captivating mythology, the temple emerged from a shepherd’s vision where Durga commanded her idol’s excavation to end wild animal threats plaguing villagers. Post-establishment, peace prevailed, deepening local reverence. Perched 7 km from Ranikhet near a Ram temple, its tranquil setting invites contemplation.

The site’s cultural heft extends beyond spirituality; it’s a living emblem of Uttarakhand heritage. Bells, symbols of answered prayers, create a symphony that resonates with history. Optimal visiting windows span March to June, though Navratri’s exuberant celebrations—complete with elaborate aartis and bhajans—steal the show, uniting thousands in devotion.

As CM Dhami’s endorsement goes viral, more travelers plan pilgrimages, ensuring Jhula Devi’s legacy endures. This sacred swing of faith continues to swing hearts toward divine fulfillment in the lap of the Himalayas.

As the Uttarakhand Premier League (UPL) 2025 commences on September 27th, a young cricketer named Sanskar Rawat is generating significant buzz among cricket enthusiasts and IPL scouts. The 20-year-old opening batsman, representing Dehradun Warriors, is anticipated to have a breakthrough season, building on his impressive performance in the inaugural UPL season. In 2024, Rawat showcased his brilliance, accumulating 191 runs across four innings at a remarkable average of 47.75 and a striking strike rate of 164.66. His performances included two half-centuries, with scores of 80 off 41 balls and 73 off 51 balls. Rawat’s aggressive batting style was highlighted by 16 fours and 13 sixes. His dynamic strokeplay and ability to manage an innings were crucial to Dehradun Warriors’ success last season. Rawat’s outstanding form led to a selection in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Uttarakhand. As the IPL 2026 auction nears, Rawat, known for his aggressive opening style, is a player to watch, with various franchises likely to closely monitor his progress in UPL 2025. For Dehradun Warriors, Rawat’s role as an explosive opener is vital. His capacity to quickly score runs at the beginning of the innings provides his team with a strong start, enabling the middle order to build upon a solid foundation. If Rawat can maintain his exceptional form from the previous season, he could significantly contribute to Dehradun’s performance this year. All eyes will be on Sanskar Rawat during UPL 2025 to see if he can elevate his game and secure an IPL contract in 2026.

Following a review meeting led by Minister of Civil Aviation, Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has authorized the resumption of helicopter services for the 2025 Char Dham Yatra. This decision comes after a reduction in monsoon rains and improved weather conditions. The ministry has emphasized the importance of enhancing safety measures for the pilgrimage.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has instructed the DGCA to take stringent actions and ensure safe travel, with a firm stance against any lapses in security. The ministry coordinated with the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, holding several review meetings in Dehradun and Delhi to improve coordination between the DGCA, the Airports Authority of India, the state government, and the Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority.

The DGCA conducted an assessment of all helipads, helicopters, and operator preparedness from September 13 to 16. Based on this assessment, the DGCA has granted permission for helicopter operations. Moreover, the DGCA provided information on challenges and additional safety measures related to pilgrimage operations to all helicopter operating companies and pilots. The ministry highlights the vital role of helicopter services in improving the accessibility of pilgrims to the high-altitude pilgrimage sites in Uttarakhand. The DGCA will closely monitor helicopter operations during the Char Dham Yatra. Earlier, several helicopter crashes in the Char Dham sector in May-June raised concerns, leading to recommendations for enhanced safety measures from various high-powered committees.

Helicopter Services for Char Dham Yatra:

Charter services will be offered from Sahastradhara, Dehradun, to Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath.
Shuttle services will be provided from the Guptkashi, Phata, Sitapur cluster to Shri Kedarnath Ji Helipad.
Six helicopter operators will conduct helicopter shuttle operations from the Guptkashi, Phata, Sitapur cluster and seven operators will conduct charter flights from Dehradun (Sahastradhara).

Before boarding a helicopter, all passengers will be provided with safety information, including the use of seatbelts, instructions on boarding and disembarking safely, and measures to be taken in emergency situations.
