  • 2021 gang rape of 17-year-old in Uttar Pradesh’s Lalitpur: Gangsters Act against 22 of 28 accused

    LALITPUR: The police have slapped the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act against 22 out of 28 accused in the last year’s gang-rape case of a 17-year-old girl in Lalitpur.

    The gang rape took place in October last year.

    On the basis of the complaint lodged by the survivor, 28 people were made accused in the case.

    The accused also include her father and uncle.

    Station House Officer (SHO) of Kotwali police station Vinod Mishra said, “The Gangsters Act has been imposed against 22 accused in the case including the main accused Tilak Yadav, Deepak Ahirwar, the father and uncle of the victim along with other accused. The action was taken on the direction of Superintendent of Police Nikhil Pathak.”

    Yadav is a former state president of the Samajwadi Party (SP) while Ahirwar is a former state president of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).

    The duo were arrested soon after the incident and were lodged in jail.

    The two, according to police sources, came out of jail in April on bail.

    According to the girl’s complaint, she was raped for five years in different parts of the city.

  • Uttar Pradesh man arrested for raping Dalit woman with threat of online exposure

    BHADOHI: A 22-year-old Dalit woman was allegedly raped several times by a man in a village here, who threatened to leak her intimate video and pictures online, police said on Wednesday.

    The victim, who used to stay at a rented accommodation, became friend with a man named Govid Srivastava (28), who allegedly raped her with the threat of leaking her explicit pictures online if she didn’t submit, they said.

    He blackmailed the girl and raped her several times in the past two months, they said.

    The girl approached the police with her friend and got the FIR registered on Tuesday after which the accused was arrested on Wednesday when he was going to meet her.

    Police have recovered clips and photographs of the victim from the accused, local SHO Ajay Kumar Singh said.

  • Uttar Pradesh: School manager, held for trying to rape minor girl student, remanded to judicial custody

    MUZAFFARNAGAR: A school manager arrested for allegedly trying to rape a minor girl after taking her to another school in the Purkazi area of the district, was on Tuesday remanded to judicial custody.

    Special Judge Sanjiv Kumar Tiwari, heading a special court set up under the provisions of the POCSO Act, remanded the arrested school manager Yogesh Chouhan to judicial custody till December 21.

    While Chouhan was arrested, the police are on the lookout for another school manager Arjun.

    The two school managers had taken a batch of 17 girl students for practical examination to another school, where they had to stay overnight, Muzaffarnagar’s Superintendent of Police Abhishek Yadav said.

    During the night stay at another school, the managers had tried to rape two girls after giving them water laced with some stupefying substance, police said.

    The incident came to light when the girls returned home and narrated their woes to their parents, who reported the matter to the Purkazi police station, which, however, did not take up the matter promptly.

    The two school managers, however, were booked following the intervention of local BJP MLA Pramod Utwal.

    Purkazi police station’s SHO V K Singh too was transferred to the police lines for alleged dereliction of his duty in the matter.

    The two school managers were booked under sections 328 (for causing hurt by poison, etc., with intent to commit an offence) and 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 7 and 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

  • Teen found dead in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit, family alleges gang rape

    PILIBHIT: A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped and killed in this district of Uttar Pradesh, a police official said on Sunday.

    The incident took place on Saturday in a village under the Barkhera police station limits, police said.

    The teen had left for her tuition classes on Saturday morning.

    When she did not return her home in the night, her family members started a search for her and contacted the police, SP Dinesh Kumar said.

    Police found the body of the girl in a naked state in a sugarcane field close to her village, the SP said.

    There were a number of injury marks on the body and a piece of cloth was found stuffed into her mouth, police said.

    Her books, bag, cycle and shoes were found lying a few metres away from the body, police said.

    Four beer bottles, snacks and cigarette butts were also recovered from the spot, they said.

    The family members of the minor have alleged that she was gang raped.

    Police said all angles, including that of gang rape, are being probed and it cannot be ruled out.

    Six people have been detained and are being interrogated, they said.

    Based on the complaint of the family members, a case has been registered against one named accused and five other unidentified people under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act, police said.

    The body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem examination, police said.

  • Man sentenced to death for killing minor after rape in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr

    BULANDSHAHR: A man was awarded death sentence by a district court on Wednesday for raping and murdering a two-year-old girl.

    The Special POCSO Court Judge also imposed a fine of Rs 1,40,000 upon the man who had hidden the dead body of the victim after committing the act.

    The incident took place last July in Hirnot village of Shikarpur area.

    The girl, belonging to Hirnot village, was abducted by Prem Singh Prajapati on July 10, when she was playing in the neighbourhood.

    According to police, Prajapati raped the minor and hid her body near a pond in the village after killing her.

    Cracking the case within 11 days of the crime, police arrested the convict and filed a charge sheet against him in the court.

  • Nine-year-old girl raped by minor in Uttar Pradesh

    BANDA: A nine-year-old girl, who had gone to a farm to fetch pulses, was allegedly raped by a 14-year-old boy here, police said on Sunday.

    Marka Station House Officer Rakesh Saroj said the incident took place on Friday evening.

    Two other girls had accompanied the victim to the farm, he said.

    However, no information about them has been disclosed.

    A case was registered on Saturday based on a complaint lodged by the girl’s father, Saroj said, adding she has been for a medical examination.

    The accused is absconding and efforts to nab him are underway, he said.

  • Uttar Pradesh gangrape accused arrested

    NEW DELHI:  Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddh Nagar district on Wednesday said they have arrested the key accused in a gangrape case of a 55-year-old Scheduled Caste woman in Jewar three days ago. 

    The woman was allegedly raped by four men, who dragged her to the open fields near her village at gunpoint and took turns to force themselves on her on Sunday morning. 

    The incident has snowballed into a political controversy with opposition parties such as the BSP and the Congress hitting out at the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh over the issue of women safety.

    “Accused Mahendra was arrested on Wednesday from a spot near his village in Jewar. He was picked up by a joint team of the Jewar police, the Special Operations Group and the SWAT,” said police.

    “A reward of Rs 25,000 was announced on information leading to the arrest of Mahendra in the wake of the incident in which another person has already been arrested and sent to jail,” he added.

    An FIR in connection with the incident has been lodged under IPC sections 376D (gangrape), 352 (punishment for assault or criminal force) and 506 (criminal intimidation), police said.

  • Woman raped by ex-fiancee who also filmed the act in Uttar Pradesh, FIR registered

    MUZAFFARNAGAR (UTTAR PRADESH): A 26-year-old woman was allegedly raped by her ex-fiance while he was drunk and the ordeal was also filmed on a mobile phone in Bhopa area here, police said on Saturday.

    According to Circle Officer (Bhopa) DSP Girija Shanker Tripathi, a case was registered by the police against the woman’s ex-fiance Vikas and three others under Sections 376, 506, 452 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code. All four accused are absconding.

    According to the complaint lodged by the victim, it is alleged that her marriage was fixed with Vikas on January 30 earlier in the year. Before the marriage, she was taken to Mansurpur where she was raped by Vikas after giving her a spiked alcoholic drink and recorded a video of the act.

    Later, he refused to marry her and the marriage was called off. The woman’s parents, then, decided to get her married to another person.

    Accused Vikas, his brothers Gagan and Omkar, and his brother-in-law sent the video to the woman’s husband through social media in a bid to defame her. The woman’s husband threw her out of the family after he got to know about the video.

  • Minor girl raped in Uttar Pradesh’s Mau, accused held

    MAU (Uttar Pradesh): A one-and-a-half-year old girl was allegedly raped by a man here, police said on Saturday.

    The man took the minor girl away on the pretext of buying her toffees on Friday night. He took her to a secluded spot and allegedly raped her. He later left the girl outside her house and fled, police said, quoting the complaint from the victim’s family.

    According to the police, a crowd immediately gathered at the spot and the man was also identified.

    The police reached the spot and later arrested the accused, officials said.

    Superintendent of police, P Sushil Chandrabhan Ghule, who visited the spot on Saturday, said the girl has been admitted to a hospital where she is undergoing treatment.

    A case is being registered based on the complaint of the relatives and the accused has been arrested.

    A request will be made to hear the matter in a fast track court, the SP added.

  • 12-year-old mentally-challenged girl gang-raped in Uttar Pradesh

    BANDA: A minor mentally-challenged girl was allegedly abducted and gang-raped here, police said on Sunday.

    The 12-year-old victim had gone to a marriage function Thursday night, from where she went missing.

    She was found in an unconscious condition here Friday night, SHO, Kotwali Police Station, Bhaskar Mishra said.

    Citing a complaint lodged in this regard, he said two unidentified men abducted the girl, and then raped her.

    The officer said rape was confirmed in the medical report of the girl.

    Mishra added that a case of abduction and gang-rape has been registered against the unidentified culprits and efforts are on to arrest them.
