  • UP govt showed alertness in handling COVID-19 situation, says Rajnath Singh

    LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh government has shown alertness in handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, said Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday.

    While visiting the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Covid Hospital set up by Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) in Lucknow with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, he said, “The Uttar Pradesh government has shown alertness in handling the COVID-19 pandemic situation in the state. Only those who work make mistakes but this is not the time to criticise. If someone sees faults and makes suggestions, the government will welcome it.”

    During his visit, Singh also inaugurated the 255-bed COVID hospital set up by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Uttar Pradesh government after converting the Haj House.

    He informed that around 25 ventilators and approximately 100 HFNCs (High Flow Nasal Cannula) are in the facility.

    According to Rakesh Kumar Mishra, Chief of the project, HAL (Lucknow), the hi-tech hospital was set up in 10-12 days at Haj house.

    “Management of the hospital will be done by the Uttar Pradesh government. Today we will transfer this hospital to UP government,” Mishra said.

    As per the union health ministry, there are currently 2,25,271 active COVID-19 cases in Uttar Pradesh. A total of 12,83,754 recoveries and 15,742 deaths have been reported so far.

    Uttar Pradesh is one of the ten states that account for 72.28 per cent of the new coronavirus cases in the country.

  • Alarmed by rising COVID cases, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra holds meeting with UP leaders

    NEW DELHI: Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday held a virtual meeting with party leaders of Uttar Pradesh to discuss the COVID-19 situation in the state.

    Amid a surge in COVID-19 cases in the state, Priyanka Gandhi and other party leaders discussed the deteriorating situation of coronavirus in the state.

    Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh reported 18,021 new COVID-19 cases and 85 deaths Tuesday as India reported the highest-ever one-day spike with over 1.8 lakh COVID-19 cases, 1,027 deaths on Tuesday, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

    Also, in view of the shortage of Remdesivir in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday directed the state health department to acquire 25,000 injections of Remdesivir from Gujarat’s Ahmedabad on an urgent basis.

    According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the officers of the Health Department left for Ahmedabad to get 25,000 Remdesivir injections at 10.40 am today.

    Remdesivir is considered a key anti-viral drug to fight against COVID-19.  

  • UP schools closed till April 11 for students of classes 1-8 amid spike in COVID-19 cases

    LUCKNOW: With the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in the state, the Uttar Pradesh government on Friday extended the closure of all schools for the student of class one to eight to April 11. Others are directed to follow the COVID-19 norms strictly.

    Earlier, chief minister Yogi Adityanath had ordered the closure of schools for students up to Class 8 till April 8. The new instructions are being issued by CM Yogi in his meeting with top officials.

    Apart from this, CM Yogi also ordered officials to raise the number of COVID-19 testings in UP.

    At present, there are 11,918 active coronavirus cases in Uttar Pradesh, as per the Union Health Ministry. 8,820 people have lost their lives due to the virus in the state, while 59,90,45 have recovered from the disease.
