  • If Asaduddin Owaisi becomes voter of Uttar Pradesh, he can become CM: SBSP chief

    By PTI
BALLIA/BAREILLY: Making a pitch for AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party president Om Prakash Rajbhar has said if Owaisi becomes a voter of Uttar Pradesh, then he too can become the chief minister of the state.

The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AMIM) is a part of an alliance formed by Rajbhar’s SBSP for the 2022 Uttar Pradesh assembly polls.

Without naming Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Rajbhar said that “a person proved to be clever, and he came from Uttarakhand to the state, became a voter of Uttar Pradesh and then became chief minister”.

“If AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi becomes a voter of Uttar Pradesh, then he can become the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh,” he said while speaking to reporters on Friday in Rasra in Ballia.

Claiming that Muslims constitute 20 per cent of the state’s population, the SBSP president said their representation should be there in the government as per their population.

This is their right, he said.

“Why cannot a son of a Muslim become chief minister or a deputy chief minister? Is being a Muslim a crime? The BJP had entered into an agreement with Mehbooba Mufti, who always spoke of separatism and Pakistan, to form government in Jammu and Kashmir,” Rajbhar said.

On Saturday, Union Minister for Animal Husbandry Giriraj Singh in Bareilly said that in the 2022 assembly elections, Adityanath will be forming the government in the state.

“AIMIM chief Asaduudin Owaisi and SBSP chief Om Prakash Rajbhar are dreaming (day-dreaming) like ‘Mungerilal’.

Owaisi wants to end the social harmony of the country, and is spreading misunderstanding.

Yogi Adityanath will be forming the government in the state,” Singh told reporters at Bareilly’s Indian Veterinary Research Institute.

Singh is on a two-day visit to Bareilly.

On Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s statement that vaccines are not available in July, the minister said, “If he (Rahul Gandhi) has to get vaccinated, he should tell the Centre where he wants to get vaccinated.

Posters have been put up at various vaccination centres telling people to come and get vaccination done. Those who want to say only negative things, will do.”

    By Express News Service
LUCKNOW: Ahead of the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly elections and other state polls, the BJP’s parent organisation RSS is set to hold a brainstorming session in Chitrakoot on July 9.

The session, slated from July 9 to July 13, will be attended by the RSS’ entire top brass, including chief Mohan Bhagwat, general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale, Dr Manmohan Vaidya, Dr Krishna Gopal, Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi and Arun Kumar.

According to sources, the meeting will particularly see discussions for the Uttar Pradesh state polls, which will be held in 2022, along side polls in four other states, including BJP ruled Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur.

The meeting will also see senior National level pracharaks of the organisation join the meeting virtually.

RSS national general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale had toured the state earlier this month and his report on the state of affairs in the politically crucial state is likely to be discussed by the RSS top brass during the meet.

The meeting is also likely to delve upon COVID pandemic second wave management by both Centre and the UP government.

The meeting is also taking place at a time when controversies over the land deals involving the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust in Ayodhya have surfaced.

As per sources privy to the developments, the meeting will zero upon the issues which are important in context with the Uttar Pradesh polls, particularly as internal BJP surveys are not painting a rosy picture for the saffron party in the state.

  • BSP chief Mayawati to go alone in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand Assembly polls in 2022

    Express News Service
LUCKNOW: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief and former Uttar Pradesh CM Mayawati has ruled out the possibility of entering into alliance with any political player in the 2022 Assembly elections for Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand here on Friday.

“The state assembly polls are due in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand shortly. Here, BSP wants to make it clear that unlike Bihar assembly polls and Lok Sabha polls, we will not be forming any alliance withanyone for 2022. BSP will contest in both UP and Uttarakhand on its own and will form the government,” stated Mayawati.

Mayawati also added that her party would ensure free COVID-19 vaccine for all if voted to power. The BSP chief was speaking on the occasion of her 65th birthday on Friday. While attaining the stature of veteran politician, Mayawati’s immediate challenge is to revive her party maintaining its relevance in the political landscape of Uttar Pradesh.

Reiterating her party’s commitment to the deprived sections of the society, Mayawati said: “Our party is dedicated to the betterment of poor and the neglected. That is why BSP had formed  government in Uttar Pradesh for four times.”

“But castiest, capitalist and narrow-minded opposition parties could not digest it so they got united against BSP and hatched conspiracies to stop our party from coming to power in the state. Now these opposition parties are busy dividing votes of the weaker sections of the society,” she added.

Exhorting her party cadre to fight against all odds to regain the lost ground in the state, the BSP chief said: “Our party workers have to overcome all the obstacles and work for the weaker sections of the society with a positive bent of mind.  They have to strive hard and work for the people in order to return to the power like they did in the year 2002.”

She asked her her party workers to celebrate her birthday as Jankalyankari Diwas. The BSP chief also demanded the central government agree to the demands of the farmers protesting against the three contentious laws.

The BSP chief also welcomed the vaccination drive starting January 16. “If the central and state government doesn’t give free vaccination, then the BSP will ensure free vaccination when it comes to power,” she said.
