The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has unveiled a game-changing ₹5,148 crore budget for FY 2026-27, targeting affordable housing, green corridors, and innovative townships to redefine the capital’s skyline.

Held at Parijat Sabhaghar under Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant’s leadership, the 187th board meeting fast-tracked urban development. Central to the plan is ₹200 crore for 848 budget-friendly flats in Sharda Nagar extension—housed in four towering 12-floor structures with one- and two-BHK options loaded with contemporary facilities.

Speaking on the matter, LDA Vice Chairman Prathmesh Kumar detailed ₹1,600 crore for acquiring land for high-profile ventures including IT City, Wellness City, Naimish Nagar, and Varun Vihar. These moves will fuel residential expansion and attract investors.

Budget breakdowns reveal ₹1,298 crore for housing maintenance and growth, ₹200 crore for core infrastructure, and a hefty ₹400 crore for the Green Corridor to revolutionize traffic management. Parks get ₹60 crore, anti-encroachment drives are bolstered, and PMAY projects advance.

Buyer-friendly decisions include holding flat prices steady for a year at Gomti Nagar’s Parijat and Panchsheel complexes. Proposals for rehabilitating Anant Nagar displaced families and tweaking scheme layouts sailed through.

Lucknow stands on the cusp of transformation, with LDA’s mega-plan weaving affordability, eco-friendly corridors, and planned townships into a blueprint for sustainable prosperity.

In a significant step towards modernizing Delhi’s parking infrastructure, LG VK Saxena and CM Rekha Gupta inaugurated a cutting-edge multi-level parking facility at South Delhi’s bustling Nehru Place on Monday. Designed to combat traffic snarls, the project promises relief to thousands of daily commuters.

Speaking at the event, CM Gupta pointed out the inertia of previous regimes, where parking proposals gathered dust. The BJP government, she said, has turned vision into reality swiftly—launching automated facilities in Punjabi Bagh and Greater Kailash within a year.

Emphasizing public mandate, Gupta thanked LG Saxena for his stewardship, which has been instrumental in unlocking pending projects. The facility, a towering six-level marvel, can park 650 cars and 352 bikes at once, servicing up to 2,000 vehicles per day through efficient rotation.

“This is a crucial response to Delhi’s growing needs,” she remarked, revealing plans for expansive parking and park developments on DDA plots in deficient zones. Attendees included MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri and DDA’s N. Saravana Kumar.

Gupta lambasted earlier governments for poor synergy with central authorities, resulting in stalled initiatives. Today, with LG’s hands-on approach—overseeing everything from desilting drains to building roads—the administration is delivering at pace.

Fueled by Centre’s backing, these collaborative strides are reshaping Delhi into a cleaner, orderly hub of progress.

New Delhi’s policy corridors buzzed with excitement as the Cabinet approved the ₹1 lakh crore Urban Challenge Fund (UCF), a game-changer for India’s urban infrastructure. Spearheaded under PM Modi’s leadership, this fund promises high-standard developments that blend private investment with public goals.

Focusing on resilient and inclusive urban spaces, UCF taps into market borrowings, PPP models, and reform-driven strategies. The core idea? Make cities productive powerhouses that propel India’s economy forward in a sustainable manner. Central assistance will cover 25% of eligible projects, but only if 50% funding comes from non-government sources—a smart incentive for efficiency.

Over five years, this could mobilize ₹4 lakh crore, signaling a departure from subsidy-heavy models to performance-linked financing. Launching in FY 2025-26 and running till 2030-31 (extendable to 2033-34), it echoes Budget announcements on urban renewal, water security, and sanitation upgrades.

Selection criteria emphasize transformative potential, green practices, and reform commitments. Funds will flow based on milestones and verified results, with reforms as a prerequisite for continuations. The Ministry’s digital platform will track everything in real-time, minus the paperwork.

Experts hail this as a forward-thinking policy that could ease urban congestion, create jobs, and enhance livability. With India’s urban population swelling, UCF positions cities not just as population centers, but as vibrant economic hubs ready for the global stage.

New Delhi’s policy corridors buzzed with optimism as the Modi-led Cabinet approved the ₹1 lakh crore Urban Challenge Fund on February 14. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill urban scheme; it’s a bold pivot to outcome-based financing that leverages markets to supercharge city infrastructure.

Picture this: ₹4 lakh crore poured into urban projects over five years, with the Centre chipping in 25% provided half the funding comes from bonds, loans, or PPPs. Operational from FY26 to FY31 (extendable to FY34), it empowers cities to become engines of growth—flexible, green, and inclusive.

At its core, the UCF champions high-quality basics like water, sanitation, mobility, and economic nodes. Selection via a cut-throat challenge process favors reform-heavy proposals that tackle governance gaps, boost credit ratings, streamline operations, and embrace transit-oriented, climate-smart planning.

Tier-II/III cities and small urban bodies—especially in tough terrains like Northeast and hills—score big with a ₹5,000 crore credit enhancement kitty. A parallel guarantee fund covers up to 70% (capped at ₹7 crore) on debut loans, dropping to 50% post-repayment success, unlocking ₹20-28 crore projects.

Expect brownfield revamps, heritage makeovers, decongestion via satellite towns, integrated waste solutions, and green corridors linking transit and economy. Monitoring? Paperless, real-time via MoHUA’s digital dashboard, tied to reforms and KPIs with third-party audits.

This fund demands continuity in reforms for phased disbursals, fostering private buy-in via risk frameworks and service standards. Metrics for success: economic uplift, jobs, revenues, social equity, disaster resilience, and cleaner environs. India’s urban future just got a market-fueled turbocharge.

India’s realty sector braces for the February 1 budget, pinning hopes on transformative reforms. From redefining affordable homes to fortifying city infrastructure and embracing asset tokenization, the wishlist is ambitious.…

India’s realty sector braces for the February 1 budget, pinning hopes on transformative reforms. From redefining affordable homes to fortifying city infrastructure and embracing asset tokenization, the wishlist is ambitious. As urban demand outpaces supply, these changes could redefine accessibility and investment landscapes.

Sky-high property rates have sidelined millions from the housing market. Experts urge hiking the affordable housing threshold to Rs 1 crore, spurring developers to build more budget-friendly units. This shift promises not just more homes but a ripple effect on employment and economic vitality in tier-1 and tier-2 cities.

Shifting focus to urban woes, the budget must pour funds into pollution control, water purification, and waste management. These aren’t luxuries – they’re essentials for livable cities. Enhanced infrastructure will boost property values, attract FDI, and foster sustainable growth, experts argue.

On the financial front, amplified deductions for home loans top the agenda. Green buildings and eco-focused developments need tax perks to thrive. Most excitingly, tokenizing real assets could mirror SIPs in stocks, enabling micro-investments. Blockchain-backed fractions of commercial spaces or land parcels would open doors for the common investor.

In a historic twist, the budget drops on a Sunday, February 1, presented by FM Sitharaman. Breaking from tradition post-2000, it follows 2025’s Saturday session. The real estate fraternity awaits policies that balance affordability, innovation, and urban renewal.

A significant disaster was narrowly avoided in Bokaro late Saturday night when a section of a four-story building collapsed. The incident occurred in the Sector 1B HSCL Colony within the City Police Station’s jurisdiction. The rear portion of the building unexpectedly gave way, causing panic among residents and locals. Fortunately, all families inside the structure managed to evacuate safely before the collapse. The affected building is located between house numbers 351 and 366 in Sector 1B. Residents reported hearing a loud noise as the old and dilapidated building’s rear section crumbled. The sound alerted neighbors, who rushed out of their homes, leading to a large crowd gathering at the scene. Authorities, including the City Police, Municipal Corporation, and Civil Defense, were promptly on-site. The area has been cordoned off for safety, and adjacent buildings have been evacuated as a precautionary measure. Several families were forced to spend the night in an open field, their belongings buried under the rubble. Relief operations and debris removal have commenced under the administration’s supervision. Local Member of Parliament Dhullu Mahto visited the site, met with affected families, and urged the administration to provide temporary shelter at the Town Hall for those displaced. He highlighted previous communications regarding the colony’s deteriorating condition that went unaddressed by management. Initial investigations suggest structural weaknesses and dampness in the walls as probable causes for the collapse.
