The session covered pressing defence issues, earning praise from the minister as an ‘enriching discussion’ via his X post.

Singh shared details on X: ‘Courtesy visit by GOC-in-C Northern Command, Udhampur, Lt Gen Pratik Sharma. Fruitful exchange of thoughts ensued.’ This comes at a time when border vigilance remains paramount.

Taking helm on May 1, 2025, Lt Gen Sharma replaced Lt Gen MV Suchendra Kumar at Udhampur headquarters. Boasting 30 years in the forces, the infantry stalwart brings a wealth of experience from top echelons.

His previous stints include Deputy CoAS (Strategy), DGMO, and DG Information Warfare, showcasing prowess across operational planning, intelligence, and cyber domains.

A product of NDA Pune, IMA Dehradun, and DSSC Wellington, Sharma was commissioned in 1987 into Madras Regiment. His career trajectory embodies excellence in leadership and tactics.

The rendezvous signals robust government-army ties, vital for addressing LAC tensions and internal security. Observers see it as a step towards streamlined decision-making in defence matters.

In Bhopal, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan celebrated his birthday Thursday not with lavish parties, but by planting trees with his family, turning personal joy into a public good. This act underscored his philosophy that life’s true value lies in service.

Chouhan shared profound thoughts on birthdays as milestones for introspection. ‘Amid the happiness, I ponder how another year has slipped away and how to make the rest count,’ he remarked. He views these occasions as opportunities to pledge better living and societal contributions.

Highlighting interconnectedness, he explained that all creatures – from humans to plants – are part of one consciousness. Referencing sacred texts, ‘Atma is in all beings,’ Chouhan advocated compassion, rejecting hatred and violence. Respect for nature is paramount in this worldview.

Service, he declared, is love’s purest form. Helping others reveals genuine affection. Renewing his vow on this day, Chouhan committed to selfless service while prioritizing eco-conservation. Trees, he stressed, are lifelines offering breathable air, nourishment, and shelter.

Pointing to his own past efforts where tiny plants have grown into fruit-bearing giants, he planted more today. ‘Small efforts by each person can transform our planet into a safer, prettier home,’ Chouhan urged, calling for widespread environmental stewardship.

In a significant political move, the BJP has nominated Union Minister Ramdas Athawale for another term in the Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra. The announcement has been met with delight from Athawale, who sees it as an opportunity to deepen his contributions to national development.

Speaking to media on Wednesday, Athawale shared how he personally urged CM Devendra Fadnavis about the importance of his Delhi posting. ‘Fadnavis went above and beyond to make this happen,’ he noted gratefully. Overcoming rumors of a two-term cap, Athawale’s selection reaffirms his stature within the party.

‘I’ll keep working nationwide for my ministry and raise pertinent issues in the Rajya Sabha,’ Athawale promised. He expressed unwavering support for PM Modi’s leadership, vowing to back the agenda of unity and growth for every community.

The full slate of BJP nominees includes heavyweights like Vinod Tawde, Maya Chintaman Iwanate, and Ramrao Kudkute. This lineup positions the party strongly for the upcoming polls.

Athawale’s journey reflects resilience amid political whispers. Earlier talks suggested his nomination might be sidelined due to past tenures, but Fadnavis’s intervention turned the tide. Now, with renewed vigor, Athawale aims to champion Modi’s vision from Parliament’s corridors.

As Maharashtra gears up for Rajya Sabha elections, Athawale’s inclusion promises robust advocacy for central policies, blending his experience with fresh momentum for India’s progress.

Kozhikode mourned the passing of K.P. Unnikrishnan, a towering figure in Kerala politics, on Tuesday. The 89-year-old six-term MP from Vadakara and former Union Minister leaves behind a rich legacy of service that shaped the region’s political narrative for decades.

Hailing from the Malabar coast, born to E. Kunhikannan Nair on September 20, 1936, Unnikrishnan received his early education at Madras Christian College and completed law studies there. His foray into journalism preceded his full-time political commitment, with notable stints at Mathrubhumi and other outlets as a special correspondent.

Entering the political arena in the 1960s via socialist outfits, he aligned with Congress by 1962. Vadakara became his stronghold starting with the 1971 win, followed by victories in five more elections up to 1991. Shifts in party loyalty saw him move to Congress (U) in 1980 and Indian Congress (Socialist) in 1984, though a 1996 loss ended his parliamentary run.

Parliamentary roles included leading Congress (Secular) from 1981-1984 and Public Accounts Committee membership. As Minister for Telecommunications, Shipping, and Surface Transport in V.P. Singh’s cabinet (1989-90), he orchestrated the safe return of Indians amid the Gulf War turmoil.

Retiring to a quieter life after 1996, Unnikrishnan cherished time at his Pannyankara home in Kozhikode and New Delhi, immersed in literature. Tributes poured in, highlighting his unwavering commitment to Vadakara’s people and national duties. His departure closes a chapter on principled leadership in turbulent political times.

In a fervent call to action, Union Minister Virendra Kumar addressed reporters in Panaji on Friday, underscoring the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’s’ potential to eradicate drug menace from India. Aligning with PM Modi’s resolute declaration in 2020, the minister vowed that substance abuse among the youth is unacceptable and must be rooted out.

Kumar praised the involvement of Goa’s leadership, including CM Pramod Sawant, for making the event possible. ‘Society’s luminaries, especially the youth, are key stakeholders in this meaningful drive,’ he said. What began as a targeted effort in vulnerable areas has now blanketed all districts, reflecting the gravity of the issue and the belief in its societal benefits.

Central and state governments are synergizing to host these programs universally, with enthusiastic participation from all walks of life. The minister revealed staggering figures: 25 crore participants overall, 9 crore youth, 5 crore women, and activities in 16 lakh schools via creative contests. This nationwide push is not just awareness—it’s a movement building real change, paving the way for comprehensive progress in regions like Goa.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has turned his March 5 birthday into an environmental call-to-action. In an emotional video message on social media platform X, he requested his well-wishers, party workers, and family to forgo conventional celebrations and instead contribute to the planet by planting trees.

Chouhan, a staunch environmentalist who plants saplings daily, reflected on life’s purpose: ‘Our existence gains meaning through dedication to worthy goals.’ He shared his five-year streak of daily tree planting, underscoring environment protection as his lifelong vow. This year, he wants no hoardings from political associates, no shawls or mementos from loved ones – only photos of newly planted trees sent his way.

‘Trees sustain humanity, shelter wildlife, feed birds and beasts, and beautify our world. Planting one is the greatest service to humanity,’ he proclaimed. Chouhan extended the message beyond his special day, advising everyone to adopt this practice annually.

Responding to recent Youth Congress demonstrations at the AI Summit against agricultural pacts, Chouhan, a farmer himself, vouched for their benefits under PM Modi’s leadership. Dismissing opposition tactics as deliberate misinformation campaigns, he labeled the protesters’ undressing stunt as a shameful affront to the nation.

From the dusty fields of Ghaziabad to the corridors of power in New Delhi, Rajesh Pilot’s story is one of unyielding ambition and ground-level connect. Born Rajeshwar Prasad on February 10, 1945, into a farmer’s household, his early life was marked by toil. A Meerut University graduate, he peddled milk door-to-door, including to high-profile ministers, all while acing his education. The Indian Air Force beckoned in 1966, commissioning him on October 29 and launching him into aerial adventures.

A pivotal decision reshaped his destiny: leaving the cockpit for the political battlefield, guided by Indira and Sanjay Gandhi. Victory came swiftly in 1980 as MP from Bharatpur. The ‘Pilot’ moniker? Born from election buzz portraying him as Indira’s aviator pick – a name change that sealed his public image.

Dubbed the farmers’ champion, Pilot was a rally magnet, crisscrossing India for Congress more than any peer. His hyperactive travel schedule spawned ‘Hawai Minister’ taunts, which he embraced light-heartedly: ‘My pilot past fuels my flying tours; it’s Congress service at its core.’

Under Narasimha Rao, he was crisis troubleshooter extraordinaire, tackling party rifts, agrarian unrest, and Kashmir complexities. Bold confrontations with superiors underscored his no-nonsense approach. Media chronicled the drama: ‘Pilot’s Tactics Draw Party Ire’ and ‘Third Power Rising in Congress.’ Allies saw a savior; foes, an overambitious maverick. Pilot clarified in interviews – policy differences, yes; personal feuds, never.

A self-confessed jeep enthusiast who drove his own vehicle, fate dealt a cruel blow on June 11, 2000. En route from Dausa rally, a highway crash with a trailer left him critically injured. He passed away that day at SMS Hospital in Jaipur. At 55, Rajesh Pilot left an indelible mark – a fearless flyer who piloted politics with the same daring.

The South Indian film industry has produced many legends, but Krishnam Raju stands out as the ultimate ‘Rebel Star’ whose indomitable spirit fueled over 180 films across five decades. His portrayals of strong-willed rebels in diverse genres—from heartfelt romances to grand mythologicals—earned him eternal admiration. Deceased now, his contributions continue to inspire.

Hailing from a modest village in Andhra Pradesh, Krishnam Raju launched his acting career with the acclaimed ‘Chilaka Gorinka’ in 1966, bagging a Nandi Award right away. He masterfully shifted from antagonistic roles to heroic ones, solidifying his rebel image in Telugu cinema. Memorable blockbusters such as ‘Bhakta Kannappa,’ ‘Tandra Paparayudu’—for which he won a Filmfare trophy—and ‘Amara Deepam’ showcased his range. Honors poured in, including multiple Nandi Awards and the 2006 Filmfare South Lifetime Achievement Award.

As a producer with Gopi Krishna Movies, he crafted hits that touched spiritual chords. Related to megastar Prabhas as his uncle, Krishnam Raju’s last screen moment was in ‘Radhe Shyam.’

Politics beckoned too. After a 1992 loss with Congress from Narsapuram, he joined BJP, triumphed in 1999, and became a key Union Minister until 2004 under Vajpayee. His life story is a testament to relentless passion, bridging entertainment and governance with unmatched charisma.

Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Juel Oram has praised tribal doctors for their pivotal contributions to India’s public health framework, describing them as the backbone of healthcare in challenging terrains.…

Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Juel Oram has praised tribal doctors for their pivotal contributions to India’s public health framework, describing them as the backbone of healthcare in challenging terrains. During an address to medical professionals and community leaders, Oram detailed how these doctors navigate logistical hurdles to deliver essential services.

‘जनस्वास्थ्य व्यवस्था में आदिवासी चिकित्सक महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाते हैं,’ Oram asserted, translating to their crucial role in public health systems. He elaborated on their ability to integrate traditional healing practices with modern medicine, creating holistic care models tailored to indigenous needs.

Highlighting statistical improvements, the Minister noted a marked decline in infectious diseases in tribal areas served by local doctors. Government data supports this, showing higher vaccination rates and better nutritional outcomes where tribal physicians lead.

Oram outlined ambitious plans, including specialized training academies for tribal medical graduates and mobile health units staffed by them. These measures aim to empower communities self-sufficiently while alleviating the urban-rural doctor divide.

Critics have long argued for more inclusive policies in healthcare recruitment. Responding to this, Oram committed to advocating for policy reforms that prioritize tribal candidates in public health services. His speech resonated deeply, inspiring calls for immediate implementation.

Looking ahead, the Minister envisioned a future where tribal doctors not only serve their locales but also mentor the next generation, ensuring sustained health advancements. This recognition marks a turning point in valuing indigenous expertise within national health narratives.

Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party leader Chirag Paswan is gearing up for an extensive ‘Aabhar Yatra’ in Bihar, set to kick off immediately after January 14. This gratitude tour underscores his commitment to the voters who have fueled his political resurgence amid Bihar’s ever-shifting alliances.

Detailed planning reveals a comprehensive route spanning Bihar’s length and breadth, with stops in urban hubs like Patna and rural strongholds alike. Paswan intends to personally acknowledge the sacrifices of party workers and the electorate, sharing stories of resilience from his journey post his father Ram Vilas Paswan’s demise.

The announcement comes at a pivotal moment. As India celebrates the Ram Temple inauguration, Paswan’s team has astutely scheduled the yatra to follow, ensuring it captures undivided attention. Key themes include accelerating industrial growth through his ministry’s initiatives, improving agricultural yields, and creating job avenues for Bihar’s burgeoning youth population.

What sets this yatra apart is its interactive format. Unlike traditional rallies, it will incorporate feedback sessions where locals can voice concerns directly to the minister. This approach echoes Paswan’s 2020 Parivartan Yatra success, which nearly doubled his party’s seat share despite odds.

Political observers note that the tour could strengthen LJP(RV)’s bargaining power within the NDA. With five MPs from Bihar, Paswan is no lightweight, and this visible outreach might pressure allies like JD(U) to recalibrate seat-sharing talks.

Opposition voices, led by Tejashwi Yadav, label it electioneering in disguise, but Paswan counters that true leadership involves staying grounded with the people. As preparations intensify, all eyes are on how this yatra fortifies his base and influences Bihar’s political chessboard ahead of crunch-time polls.
