Investigations into the recent Delhi blast near the Red Fort Metro Station have reportedly identified Dr. Umar Mohammad, a physician from Pulwama, as the alleged driver of the Hyundai i20 car used in the explosion. Sources indicate that Dr. Mohammad was connected to a terror module based in Faridabad, where a significant quantity of explosives was previously seized. The first visual evidence of the driver has emerged through CCTV footage, showing a masked individual behind the wheel. Preliminary findings suggest the use of ammonium nitrate, fuel oil, and detonators in the blast, which claimed at least nine lives and injured twenty people. This development follows the apprehension of eight individuals, including three doctors, and the seizure of 2,900 kg of explosives in Faridabad just hours before the Delhi incident. The explosives recovered included ammonium nitrate, potassium nitrate, and sulfur, with a substantial portion suspected to be ammonium nitrate along with arms and ammunition. In response, Delhi Police have registered an FIR under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Explosives Act. A high-level security review meeting, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, is scheduled to discuss the escalating security situation and ongoing investigations.
