  • Maya Hawke joins mother Uma Thurman in ‘The Kill Room’

    A dark comedy titled ‘The Kill Room’ was announced recently with Samuel L Jackson, Uma Thurman and Joe Manganiello headlining it. Now, the project has added Thurman’s daughter and actor Maya Hawke, Debi Mazar (Goodfellas) and Larry Pine (Succession) to the film’s cast.

    Uma ThurmanWritten by Jonathan Jacobson and set to be directed by Nicol Paone, the story follows a hitman (Manganiello), his boss (Jackson), an art dealer (Thurman) and a money-laundering scheme that accidentally turns the assassin into an overnight avant-garde sensation, one that forces her to play the art world against the underworld. Details of the role Hawke, Mazar and Pine are set to play remain unknown at the moment.

    The production of The Kill Room will begin this year in New Jersey and New York. Jordan Yale Levine, Jordan Beckerman, and Jon Keeyes are producing under their Yale Productions banner alongside Anne Clements of Idiot Savant Pictures, Paone, Thurman, Dannielle Thomas and Jason Weinberg from Untitled Entertainment, and William Rosenfeld of Such Content. Executive producers include Robert Kapp, Scott Levenson, Jason Kringstein, Richard Switzer, Ian Niles, Philip W. Shaltz, Bradley Pilz, Michael J. Rothstein, Jesse Korman, Jeffrey Tussi, and Michael and Jackie Palkovicz.

    Meanwhile, Hawke gearing up to return as Robin in the upcoming fourth season of Stranger Things. Mazar is best known for starring in Goodfellas, Malcolm X, and The Insider. Pine has been a regular in Wes Anderson films from The Royal Tenenbaums to Moonrise Kingdom.

  • Uma Thurman joins Showtime series Super Pumped as Arianna Huffington

    Uma Thurman has joined the cast of Showtime series Super Pumped. She will be playing Arianna Huffington’s character in it.

    Super Pumped is based on Mike Isaac’s book Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber. The series is planned as an anthology with each season focusing on a different business world story. In the first season, Uma Thurman is set to appear opposite Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Kyle Chandler. Gordon-Levitt plays Travis Kalanick, Uber’s hard-charging CEO, and Kyle Chandler essays the role of his mentor Bill Gurley.

    Uma Thurman essays the role of Arianna Huffington, who was the co-founder of The Huffington Post and also an Uber board member. The show depicts the roller-coaster ride of the upstart transportation company, embodying the highs and lows of Silicon Valley.

    Elisabeth Shue, Kerry Bishe, Jon Bass, Bridget Gao Hollitt, and Babak Tafti are also part of the cast. 

  • Bridget Regan cast as Poison Ivy in ‘Batwoman’ Season 3

    WASHINGTON: Actor Bridget Regan has joined the cast of ‘Batwoman’.

    As per Variety, Bridget will essay the role of Pamela Isley, also known as Poison Ivy, in the superhero series.

    Bridget’s character has been described as a “passionate, brilliant scientist with a mind for changing the world for the better”. But her plans shifted when she was experimented on by a colleague, injected with various plant toxins which turned her into the infamous Batman villain Poison Ivy.

    Bridget has shared the same news on her Instagram account with a caption, “this is going to be fun.”

    Also, Bridget is the latest actress to play a live-action version of Poison Ivy. Earlier Uma Thurman played Ivy in the 1997 film ‘Batman and Robin’ while several actors played her in ‘Gotham’.

    Before ‘Batwoman’, Bridget has featured on several hit shows like ‘The Last Ship’, ‘Jane the Virgin’, and ‘White Collar’. 

  • Uma Thurman joins ‘Stargirl’ sequel at Disney

    LOS ANGELES: Hollywood star Uma Thurman has boarded the cast of Disney’s sequel to the young adult romantic drama “Stargirl”.

    The Julia Hart-directed movie, which was a hit on streamer Disney Plus in March 2020, was adapted from the best-selling book of the same name by Jerry Spinelli.

    The story follows Leo (Graham Verchere), a boy living in Mica, Arizona, who wishes nothing more than an anonymous existence but whose life is turned upside down when he meets and falls for an unusual and colourful girl named Stargirl, played by Grace VanderWaal.

    According to The Hollywood Reporter, the follow-up will see Stargirl’s (VanderWaal) journey out of Mica and into a bigger world of music, dreams and possibility.

    Thurman will play Roxanne Martel, a musician Stargirl admires and encounters on her journey.

    Hart is returning to direct, with Elijah Richardson joining the cast as romantic lead opposite VanderWaal.

    VanderWaal will also write and perform original music for the sequel along with composer-musician Michael Penn.

    Hart and Jordan Horowitz, who co-wrote the initial adaptation with Kirsten Hahn, wrote the original script.

    Thurman is currently in production on Apple TV Plus series “Suspicion”, a thriller based on the award-winning Israeli series “False Flag”.

    The Oscar-nominated actor was most recently seen in “The War With Grandpa” and Netflix film “Chambers”.
