A recent presentation by Muhammad Yunus, Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser, has reignited regional diplomatic sensitivities. While meeting with a Turkish parliamentary delegation, Yunus gifted them a book titled ‘Art of Triumph.’ The book, showcasing student artwork, features a controversial map on its cover that appears to depict India’s northeastern states as part of Bangladesh. This incident echoes a previous occasion where Yunus presented the same book, with the disputed map, to a Pakistani military official. The map bears a striking resemblance to those promoted by extremist groups advocating for a ‘Greater Bangladesh,’ a concept that includes territorial expansion into India. This has led to concerns about potential renewed tensions between Bangladesh and India. While India’s Ministry of External Affairs has not issued a formal statement, it is reportedly monitoring the situation closely. The book’s imagery has led analysts to suggest that Yunus’s choice may unintentionally signal support for these territorial aspirations, causing unease in diplomatic and security sectors. This development follows a period where bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan saw discussions on enhancing trade and cultural ties during a meeting between Yunus and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the UN General Assembly. Previously, Yunus had commented on strained India-Bangladesh relations, attributing difficulties to student protests and what he described as ‘fake’ Indian media reports potentially exacerbating tensions.

An agent of the Israeli intelligence agency, Mossad, has been apprehended in Turkey. The Turkish National Intelligence Agency (MIT) completed this major operation in collaboration with the Istanbul Chief Public…

An agent of the Israeli intelligence agency, Mossad, has been apprehended in Turkey. The Turkish National Intelligence Agency (MIT) completed this major operation in collaboration with the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Anti-Terrorism Department of the Istanbul Police.

The Mossad agent’s name is Serkan Cicek. Investigations revealed that Cicek was in contact with Faisal Rashid, a member of Israel’s online operations center. Rashid assigned Cicek a specific task, which involved surveilling a Palestinian activist who opposed Israel’s Middle East policy.

Investigations also showed that Cicek, despite his real name being Muhammed Fatih Keles, changed his name due to significant business debts. After changing his name, he quit his business and founded the Pandora Detective Agency in 2020. Following this, he began working as a private investigator.

During this time, he met Musa Kus and lawyer Tugrulhan Dip. Musa Kus, who is currently in prison for allegedly spying for Israel, helped Cicek and his associates obtain private data from public records. Cicek worked with both Musa Kus and Tugrulhan Dip in his spying activities.

After Cicek became a spy, Mossad agents took notice of him. On July 31, Faisal Rashid contacted Cicek on WhatsApp, posing as an employee of a foreign law firm.

Rashid tasked Cicek with four days of surveillance of a Palestinian activist residing in Basaksehir. In return, Rashid paid him $4,000 in cryptocurrency on August 1. Kus, who is serving a 9-year sentence, Cicek accepted Rashid’s proposal.

This event has raised serious concerns in Turkey. The reason is that Turkey has long supported Hamas and Palestine. If Mossad intensifies its operations in Turkey, there is a risk of chaos in the country.

Some people consider it an eye-opening revelation for President Erdogan. Turkey and Israel have strong trade relations. Israel’s oil and gas also pass through Turkey. Thus, Mossad’s activity in Turkey could also be a cause for concern for this relationship.

During the 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel, Turkey, while not providing military support to Iran, offered open diplomatic backing. Ankara strongly condemned Israeli air strikes and defended Iran’s right to retaliate. However, the situation has shifted. Turkey has taken a significant step that further complicates Iran’s position on the international stage. On the orders of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Turkish government has frozen the assets of several organizations and companies linked to Iran. These institutions are reportedly involved in Iran’s nuclear program, uranium enrichment, and research activities. This decision was published in the country’s official gazette, making it immediately effective.

In an effort to end the ongoing Israeli-Gaza conflict, which has persisted for the past two years, former U.S. President Donald Trump, in collaboration with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu,…

In an effort to end the ongoing Israeli-Gaza conflict, which has persisted for the past two years, former U.S. President Donald Trump, in collaboration with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, presented a 20-point peace proposal at the White House. This initiative received a warm reception from several Muslim nations, including Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey.

However, the plan’s most significant flaw is the absence of a concrete guarantee for Palestinian statehood. Given that even Palestine’s closest Muslim allies are praising this plan, questions arise about whether Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan have inadvertently weakened the core issue of Palestinian statehood.

Trump targeted nations that recently recognized Palestine during a press conference. He stated that many countries mistakenly recognized Palestine. While his 20-point plan mentions the possibility of a Palestinian state, the language is vague.

The proposal suggests that statehood could become a reality when reconstruction in Gaza progresses and when the Palestinian Authority (PA) implements its reform program honestly. In other words, Gaza’s development and PA reforms are tied to conditions, after which statehood might or might not occur. Netanyahu also mentioned that the issue of a Palestinian state wasn’t discussed during his meeting with Trump, and Trump didn’t emphasize it either. This is why the plan appears to overlook the real question of Palestinian statehood.

Interestingly, this plan has also been praised by regional countries that have traditionally supported Palestine. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that he believes the peace will bring political stability and economic development. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also praised Trump’s efforts. Saudi Arabia and other countries’ foreign ministers issued a joint statement praising Trump’s honest efforts and expressing confidence that he could find a path to peace.

Experts believe that the diplomatic strategies of these countries are now more focused on economic stability and relations with the United States. As a result, the core issue of Palestine gets sidelined. In essence, while Trump’s plan to bring peace to Gaza may provide temporary relief by stopping the violence, it does not provide a solid foundation for the dream of a Palestinian state.

Trump’s plan includes an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the release of all hostages, and the formation of an international peace board. Trump will chair this board, which will also include former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

The plan includes:

1. An immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
2. Hamas will release all Israeli hostages within 72 hours.
3. Israel will release 250 people serving life sentences in Gaza and 1700 other prisoners.
4. A plan for the development and reform of Gaza will be created and funded.
5. An international security force will be deployed to maintain security in Gaza.
6. Security on the borders of Israel and Egypt will be strengthened.
7. International organizations will monitor aid and security in Gaza.
8. Talks for peace between Israel and Palestine will begin.

The Pakistani government, led by Shehbaz Sharif, has offered Turkey 1,000 acres of land to establish a new Export Processing Zone (EPZ) within the Karachi Industrial Park. This initiative aims to attract Turkish companies to invest in Pakistan, with the goal of boosting trade between the two nations to $5 billion. This move comes in the wake of Turkey’s support for Pakistan during the India-Pakistan conflict in May. The proposed EPZ is designed to provide Turkish investors with various incentives, including tax exemptions for up to 20 years, affordable land, and uninterrupted utilities like electricity and water. The Pakistani delegation studied Turkish EPZs, which are now managed by private companies, to understand the advantages provided to investors. The strategic location of the Karachi EPZ would facilitate easy access to Central Asia and the Gulf countries, reducing transport costs for Turkish companies.

During meetings at the UNGA, former US President Donald Trump engaged with leaders from Turkey and Pakistan within a 24-hour period. He met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, along with Field Marshal Asim Munir. A strategic civil nuclear deal was signed between the US and Turkey. After closed-door meetings with Sharif and Munir, Trump referred to Asim Munir as a ‘great guy’. This development, with the US fostering relationships with both nations, could be a cause for concern for India, particularly given existing tensions related to Russian oil and tariffs.

A meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Contact Group on Kashmir took place in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly session. Foreign Ministers and senior officials from Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Niger participated in the meeting. The meeting was chaired by OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha. A Kashmiri delegation was also present. The political and security situation in Jammu and Kashmir was reviewed during the meeting. Representatives expressed concern over the human rights situation in the region. Pakistan’s Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (Foreign Affairs), Tariq Fatemi, stated that lasting peace in South Asia is linked to the resolution of the Kashmir dispute. He appealed to the OIC to exert constructive pressure on India, demanding the release of political prisoners. The OIC welcomed the recent ceasefire between India and Pakistan and appreciated the mediation efforts. The organization stated that recent events demonstrate that lasting peace in the region is difficult without a solution to the Kashmir issue. The meeting also noted that provocative rhetoric from regional leaders could affect peace efforts. The OIC expressed concern over the large number of arrests of political and human rights activists. It also called the restrictions on religious gatherings in Srinagar’s Jamia Masjid and Eidgah inappropriate. The organization reiterated its rejection of the decisions taken by the Indian government on August 5, 2019, and the demographic changes that followed. It also stated that elections held in Kashmir cannot be an alternative to the right to self-determination. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan once again raised the issue of Jammu and Kashmir from the platform of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. He advocated for resolving the Kashmir issue through dialogue between India and Pakistan. Erdogan said that for our brothers and sisters in Kashmir, this issue should be resolved with the help of the UN Security Council. India has rejected such comments before, maintaining that Jammu and Kashmir is its internal matter.

The ‘X’ account of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was hacked on Sunday. After gaining access, the hackers posted images of the Pakistani and Turkish flags on the account. The account has since been secured. The hacking of the Deputy CM’s account caused a stir among followers and in political circles.

Technical teams immediately took action and recovered the account, according to Eknath Shinde’s office. The account is now fully restored and functioning normally.

The hackers also ran a livestream on the Deputy Chief Minister’s account featuring images of Pakistan and Turkey. This incident occurred on the day India and Pakistan were scheduled to play the second match of the Asia Cup. An official stated that they immediately informed the cyber crime police. The team managing the Deputy CM’s X handle later recovered the account. The recovery process took approximately 30 to 45 minutes.

According to the office, the technical team quickly regained control of the account and restored its security. The account is now fully secure and operating normally. Officials clarified after recovering the account that no sensitive information was leaked from the Deputy CM’s account during the incident.

However, the hacking of the Deputy CM’s account exposes vulnerabilities in cyber security. The posting of Pakistani and Turkish flags on the account caused a commotion among his followers. Sources indicate that the Maharashtra Cyber Cell will now investigate the incident to identify the hackers. Hacking and cybercrime cases are rapidly increasing in India, causing the country to suffer losses of thousands of crores of rupees every year.

Following an Israeli strike in Qatar, key Hamas leaders have gone underground. Among those reported to have disappeared are Al-Khalil al-Hayya, Osama Hamdan, and Izzat al-Rishq. These three officials were notably in charge of the Gaza agreement. The disappearance of these Hamas officials has made any talk of a hostage deal problematic, as the US is unable to establish contact with them.
