<p>An insightful one-day cluster-level awareness and training program focused on the rights and social security schemes for persons with disabilities was organized in the Dhadadangal Panchayat Bhavan, Kathikund block. Spearheaded by the Birsa Divyang Samiti, the event aimed to educate and empower the Divyangjan community. The program was presided over by Priyatam Kumar Singh, Treasurer and Director of the Samiti. Dignitaries present included Dinesh Soren, Mukhiya of Dhadadangal Panchayat, and Dr. Jitendra Kumar, Senior Program Officer from Sight Savers India Bihar, as the chief guests. Ajit Pathak, Special Educator from Dumka block, Nitesh Kumar, President of the Samiti, Sikki Kumari, Secretary, Upendra Rai, Accountant, and Vivek Kumar Singh, operator of Tanya Computer Center, also graced the event as special guests. Representatives from Sight Savers India Bihar and Pragati Divyangjan Seva Samiti were also in attendance, and all guests were honored with traditional attire by the Samiti. An exposure visit was also conducted, allowing team members to witness the welfare schemes and initiatives undertaken by the Birsa Divyang Samiti for persons with disabilities in the field. The team highly commended the Samiti&#8217;s efforts. Ajit Pathak served as the trainer for the day, guiding 95 participants from Dhadadangal and Jhikra Panchayats.</p>

<p>A one-day tobacco cessation training program was conducted on Wednesday in the presence of Dr. Sushanto Kumar Majhi, District Civil Surgeon of Pashchimi Singhbhum district, and under the chairmanship of Dhananjay Pathak, Block Development Officer Khuntpani. The program saw the participation of Mukhiyas (village heads), Jal Sahiyas (water assistants), employees from the drinking water department, members of voluntary organizations, and panchayat representatives.</p>



<p>The objective of the program was to make rural areas tobacco and drug-free and to encourage people to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Block Development Officer Dhananjay Pathak emphasized the necessity of abandoning tobacco and drugs for a healthy life. Block Pramukh (Head) Siddharth Honhaga expressed concern over the increasing tobacco consumption among the youth, calling it a social evil, and appealed to everyone to cooperate in building a drug-free society.</p>



<p>Additional Chief Medical Officer Dr. Bharti Minj provided information on the adverse effects of tobacco. She highlighted that tobacco use can lead to serious illnesses such as hair loss, cataracts, tooth decay, lung cancer, heart disease, ulcers, gangrene, and respiratory diseases. It also results in economic and social losses.</p>



<p>District Tuberculosis Officer Dr. Alok Ranjan stated that tobacco use affects not only the individual but also their family and society. Social worker Anoop Bage identified tobacco as a major cause of serious non-communicable diseases and stated that the adverse effects can be prevented by adhering to the provisions of the COTPA Act 2003 and 2021.</p>



<p>On this occasion, District Counselor Mukti Birua provided information about the Tobacco Cessation Center located at the Sadar Hospital. She mentioned that those who wish to quit tobacco can receive treatment at the hospital or contact the national toll-free number 1800-11-2356.</p>



<p>At the end of the program, all participants took a pledge not to consume tobacco. The program was attended by Block Pramukh, District Council members, employees of the drinking water department, representatives of voluntary organizations, and employees of the Block Office and the District NCD Department.</p>

<p>Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai attended the inaugural of a three-day basic/orientation training program for newly elected Zila Panchayat Presidents and Vice-Presidents at the Thakur Pyarelal State Panchayat and Rural Development Institute in Nimora, Raipur. Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sai emphasized that Panchayati Raj institutions are the backbone of rural development. <p>The three-week departmental training program for District Art and Culture officials of the Art, Culture, and Youth Department of the Bihar government concluded at the Dashrath Manjhi Labour Employment Study Institute in Patna. The closing ceremony commenced with the lighting of the lamp, inaugurated jointly by N. Vijayalakshmi, Additional Chief Secretary of the Animal and Fisheries Resources Department, and Pranav Kumar Ray, Secretary of the Department, along with other senior officials.</p>



<p>In her address, Vijayalakshmi congratulated all the District Art and Culture officials, stating that it was a matter of joy that the cultural talents of the remote areas of the state would now be able to gain recognition at national and international levels.</p>



<p>She emphasized the need for coordination between folk traditions and classical arts, inspiring the younger generations to inherit the cultural heritage. Department Secretary Pranav Kumar Ray addressed the officials, stating that after the intensive three-week training period, their knowledge would have definitely increased significantly, which would prove helpful in the effective implementation of departmental schemes at the district level.</p>



<p>Certificates and mementos were presented to all District Art and Culture officials at the ceremony. Presentations of what the trainees had learned during the training were made through PPTs in groups. Sukanya from Munger presented on connecting youth through arts, Kirti Alok of Patna presented on the role of museums in a changing environment, Chandan of Darbhanga on cultural and economic development through films, Richa Verma on Bihar&#8217;s folk music: from conservation to innovation, and Shyam on every house an art. These presentations were very effective.</p>



<p>On this occasion, Cultural Works Director Ruby also encouraged the officials, saying that these trained officers will now smoothly conduct departmental work in the district with confidence. Anil Kumar Singh presented the vote of thanks at the closing ceremony. Internal Financial Advisor Rana Sujit Kumar Tuntun, Special Officer Kahkashan, Film Consultant of Bihar State Film Development and Finance Corporation Arvind Ranjan Das, Public Relations Officer of the Sports Department Nupur Jha, along with a large number of officers and employees, were present throughout the program.</p>
