  • U’khand police devise digital scheme to ease traffic congestion

    DEHRADUN: The police in Uttarakhand have decided to try the “OYO app booking style” parking to get rid of traffic congestion. 

    Accordingly, the police joined hands with the ‘Park Plus Mobile Application’ and provided the new app to 400 small, big, paid, and unpaid parking lots in the city.

    Speaking to The New Indian Express about the scheme devised by Director General of Police Ashok Kumar, Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Akshay Konde explained that vehicle owners no longer have to worry about whether they get a parking place. Now they can book parking with one click. The new app will guide the person to the parking lot with the help of GPS.

    “Due to the acute parking problem in the city, there is traffic congestion every day. Hence, the decision to adopt the digital solution”, said Konde.

    The police claim this new traffic experiment will ease traffic congestion and also generate a source of employment for people.

    Akshay Konde said this new service will make parking easier for car owners in Dehradun. The number of vehicles being unnecessarily parked on the routes will get reduced. “Our effort is to make the roads of Dehradun safe and smart”, he said.

    Superintendent of Police, Akshay Konde also informed that traders have welcomed the decision to build parking facility in the old tehsil of Dehradun. It can accommodate 650 vehicles. Congress Traders Cell president Sunil Kumar Banga, Shekhar Kapur, Ram Kapoor, Ajit Singh have also welcomed the new system implemented by the police.

  • Durg District traffic police launch new apps

    UNDER Smart City-Smart Traffic campaign Traffic Police, Durg launched apps to achieve the objectives of the campaign. Vivekanand Sinha, Inspector General of Police, Durg Police Range inaugurated the apps recently at a formally organised function at Traffic Police office in Bhilai. As part of the campaign, My Smart e-Verification and My Traffic My Safety these apps were formally inaugurated by IGP, Sinha. He also reviewed the campaign and directed the officials regarding proper implementation and also the ground level works to achieve the campaign’s objectives. Gurjeet Singh, Dy SP (Traffic) informed that the district is going to be the first and ranked fifteen in the country to provide permanent Smart Card to ensure Smart Traffic. The road safety is of vital importance for general commuters and the traffic police are campaigning bearing on mind the campaign’s core objectives. The smart cards are being issued with completing certain formalities from Traffic Office, Gurudwara Road, Nehru Ngar, Bhilai in accordance of new rules of Motor Vehicle Act. He pointed out the issuance of Smart (Yellow) Card will confirm verification of vehicles, mobile number, address and other details would be in quick reach of police and it will also help in ensuring the proper implementation of traffic safety scheme. It will also be a major part of Traffic Control System. There would hardly be the requirement of RC book, insurance paper of vehicle, license if one is carrying smart card with him. It will also be considered as an authentic document during checking and traffic police officials also clear the matter on-spot. It will also curtail effectively unnecessary dispute. The people could opt for getting issued the smart card by sending WhatsApp post regarding insurance, registration and driving license and a photograph the mobile number 7869696100. Besides with Smart e-Verification the people living in rented quarters could verify through the app. It will contribute to crime control as police will have complete data of people.
