In a decisive move to quell post-election buzz, Shiv Sena chief and Deputy CM Eknath Shinde declared on Monday that Mumbai’s next mayor will hail from the Mahayuti coalition of Shiv Sena and BJP, mirroring their joint electoral strategy in the BMC polls.

This assurance covers multiple municipal corporations including Thane and Kalyan-Dombivli, where the alliance emerged strong. Shinde dismissed whispers of new political realignments, stressing that the electorate’s verdict in favor of Mahayuti—Shiv Sena, BJP, and RPI—will be honored without exception.

Amid no outright majority in BMC elections and speculation over corporators’ hotel stay, Shinde’s clarity restores order. He appealed to Mumbaikars not to fall for rumors, highlighting the sacred trust placed in the alliance.

Speaking to fresh corporators, Shinde hailed Mumbai’s 29 Shiv Sena winners and outlined an action plan: immediate work commencement, pending projects completion, and crafting development blueprints to make each ward the city’s best.

He mandated daily ward inspections from dawn, focusing on sanitation, water reliability, waste handling, infrastructure like markets and sports facilities, and healthcare upgrades. ‘Shiv Sena leaders must stay rooted in the community, gauging public sentiment and fostering inclusive growth,’ he added.

Shinde’s directives set the tone for proactive municipal governance, ensuring Mahayuti’s dominance translates into tangible progress for Mumbai’s residents and beyond.
