In an official statement posted on X, the airline announced that the system has been restored to normal functionality. “The third-party system has been fully restored, and check-in at all airports is functioning normally. All our flights are operating as per schedule. We thank our passengers for their understanding,” the airline stated.

Earlier, Air India had acknowledged the disruption, informing passengers that their airport teams were working to mitigate the impact. While the restoration was progressive, some continued delays were anticipated until full stabilization. Passengers were advised to verify their flight status and arrive at the airport earlier than usual to accommodate potential residual disruptions.

The United Nations has responded to Trump’s allegations. A representative of UN Secretary-General Guterres, Farhan Aziz Haq, stated that the teleprompter’s management fell under the purview of the White House. Haq emphasized that the White House was responsible for determining the teleprompter’s placement and operational details, including the roadmap for Trump’s speech. He questioned how the teleprompter malfunctioned at the last moment, given the White House’s role. Regarding the escalator, the UN maintains that it was working when Trump arrived. Before Trump, two White House cameramen used the escalator without issue. However, it stopped working after Trump and his entourage began to use it. The UN plans to release related video footage soon.

During his speech, Trump criticized the UN’s performance, citing the malfunctioning teleprompter as an example of the organization’s incompetence, suggesting the individual responsible for it would likely face job loss. Trump also addressed the impact of US funding cuts to the UN, which could result in over 3,000 job losses. Furthermore, Trump expressed concern for his wife’s safety when the escalator malfunctioned, though Melania navigated the stairs without issue.

The incident involved Air India flight AI 2380, scheduled to depart from Delhi Airport. The deplaning occurred due to malfunctions in the air conditioning system and the power supply. Passengers were subsequently moved to the terminal building. During the ordeal, airline staff provided no clear explanation for the delay and deplaning, leading to frustration among the passengers, including elderly individuals.

The flight, operated by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, was scheduled to depart around 11 PM from Delhi Airport. Passengers reported issues with the air conditioning and power supply. Air India has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident. This is not an isolated incident, as technical problems have become a recurring issue affecting Air India flights. Recent events include an emergency landing of a Delhi to Indore Air India flight due to a reported fire signal.

Both airport authorities and Air India confirmed the technical fault. A spokesperson for Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) stated that the issue was detected during the takeoff roll. Following standard procedures, the pilot immediately stopped the aircraft and returned it to the parking bay.

After the problem was identified, engineers at the airport inspected the aircraft and decided against allowing the flight to proceed. This decision prompted Air India to cancel the flight.

Lok Sabha MP Hibi Eden, who was on the flight, shared his experience on the social media platform X. He described an unusual situation where the aircraft seemed to skid on the runway before failing to take off. Air India canceled AI 504 and announced a new flight at 1 a.m., which still hadn’t started boarding, and stated this was the third flight that day to be grounded due to technical issues. The MP noted the long wait passengers endured after the cancellation.

Rajya Sabha MP J.B. Mathar, also a passenger, reported that the pilot announced the flight was not fit for takeoff. Mathar stated that passengers were informed they would be transferred to another aircraft, resulting in passenger frustration until approximately 1 a.m.

Following the cancellation, Air India issued an apology for the inconvenience, assuring that all passengers were safely deplaned. Ground staff provided assistance to the affected travelers. The exact number of passengers on the flight has not been officially released.
