With increased sales observed after the recent GST update and the approaching Diwali season, several automotive manufacturers are preparing to launch new vehicles in India. Two prominent models are the Tata Punch facelift and the new generation Hyundai Venue, with Tata also planning petrol variants of the Harrier and Safari. The Tata Punch facelift, spotted in test runs, is anticipated to launch in November and will feature updated bumpers, new interior features, a larger infotainment screen, and a redesigned two-spoke steering wheel. It’s expected to retain its 1.2-liter petrol engine, as well as the CNG variant’s current setup. The new Hyundai Venue, undergoing testing, is expected to take design cues from the Hyundai Alcazar and Creta, with interior upgrades, and will offer the same engine options as before. In addition, Tata Motors is set to introduce petrol versions of the Harrier and Safari by the end of 2025, powered by a new 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine.

India’s automotive market is experiencing rapid growth, fueled by intense competition that encourages automakers to innovate. Several brands, including Tata, Hyundai, and Kia, are preparing for a series of launches…

India’s automotive market is experiencing rapid growth, fueled by intense competition that encourages automakers to innovate. Several brands, including Tata, Hyundai, and Kia, are preparing for a series of launches in the coming months. These releases include both redesigned models and entirely new vehicles, all aiming to make a mark in the increasingly competitive SUV segment.

Some of the most anticipated upcoming cars include:

**New Tata Punch**

Tata Motors is set to refresh its popular micro-SUV, the Tata Punch. The updated Punch is expected to debut around November. The facelifted model is likely to feature redesigned bumpers, a reworked front fascia, stylish 16-inch alloy wheels, and interior upgrades such as a two-spoke steering wheel and a larger infotainment screen. The engine lineup is expected to remain similar to the Tata Altroz, with a possible diesel option.

**Tata Sierra**

The Tata Sierra is one of the most eagerly awaited comebacks in Indian automotive history. The new Sierra is being carefully developed, with test mules spotted on Indian roads. Key features to anticipate include a bold design inspired by the original Sierra, premium features with a modern four-seater layout, and a 1.5-litre TGDI petrol engine for the ICE version. The Sierra EV is expected to have a segment-first dual-motor AWD setup. The ICE Sierra could launch by December, with the electric variant possibly following in the coming weeks.

**Hyundai Venue**

The next-generation Hyundai Venue, codenamed QU2i, is currently undergoing testing. Expected upgrades include a sleeker exterior design, a larger infotainment display (similar to the Hyundai Creta), and interior refinements. While the engine options are likely to remain the same, a price increase from the current ₹7.94 lakh – ₹13.62 lakh (ex-showroom) range is anticipated.

**Kia Syros EV**

The Kia Syros EV, spotted testing in Korea, is a promising addition to Kia’s electric lineup. Built on a reinforced K1 platform, it is expected to combine familiar design elements with modern EV technology. Key highlights include a cabin layout similar to the ICE variant, two battery options (42 kWh and 49 kWh Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC)), and estimated ranges of 300 km (42 kWh) and 355 km (49 kWh). The expected price range is ₹14–20 lakh (ex-showroom).

**Hyundai Bayon**

The Hyundai Bayon, positioned between the Exter and the Venue, will be a compact crossover based on the i20 platform. Designed for urban versatility, it will likely share mechanical components with the i20 hatchback. Expected features include a 1.2-litre petrol engine and potential mild-hybrid technology to improve fuel efficiency and performance. The Bayon aims to fill the gap in Hyundai’s lineup between small SUVs and premium hatchbacks.

Tata Motors is preparing to launch three new compact SUVs, aiming to strengthen its position in the sub-4 meter segment. These models are expected to be priced under ₹10 lakh. The company plans to introduce two of these SUVs within three years. The Tata Punch facelift is anticipated to launch in November. According to reports, the Tata Punch facelift will feature a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, replacing the current 7.0-inch display. Significant improvements are expected, including a larger driver display. The new Tata Punch may be offered with the existing 1.2-liter petrol and petrol-CNG engine options, along with 5-speed manual and automatic manual transmission options. The current Tata Punch CNG is available with a 5-speed manual transmission; however, the new Punch CNG might be available with a 5-speed automated manual transmission.

In 2027, Tata Motors is expected to launch the second-generation Nexon (codenamed: Garuda). This updated model may be offered with 1.2-liter petrol and petrol-CNG engine options. However, the SUV will not be available with a 1.5-liter diesel engine option, but it will feature a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Level 2 ADAS, and a power driver seat. Additionally, the Tata Scarlet, a muscular SUV, could also be launched, potentially competing with the Mahindra Thar and Maruti Suzuki Jimny.

In August 2025, the mid-size and compact SUV segments once again demonstrated their dominance. While the sales performance of all automakers wasn’t uniformly positive, Hyundai Creta emerged as the top…

In August 2025, the mid-size and compact SUV segments once again demonstrated their dominance. While the sales performance of all automakers wasn’t uniformly positive, Hyundai Creta emerged as the top seller, with 15,924 units sold. This figure represents a 5% decrease from the 16,762 units sold the previous year. Despite this decline, the Creta remains a benchmark in the mid-size SUV segment, reflecting its continued popularity among Indian buyers.

Tata Nexon also put up a strong fight, with sales increasing to 14,004 units in August 2024, a notable 14% increase compared to the 12,280 units sold in August 2024. The Nexon’s strong performance highlights its ongoing popularity.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza experienced a significant 29% decrease in sales, dropping from 19,190 units in August last year to 13,620 units. However, it still ranks among the top-selling cars. Maruti Suzuki Fronx saw sales of 12,422 units, nearly matching the 12,387 units from August 2024. The Fronx remains a stable seller for Maruti in the compact crossover sector. Mahindra Scorpio’s sales reached 9,840 units, reflecting a considerable 29% decrease from the 13,787 units sold a year earlier. Tata Punch faced the most significant setback, with sales declining by 32% from 15,643 units in August 2024 to 10,704 units this year. Once a regular podium contender, Punch is now facing stiff competition from its rivals.

Toyota’s hybrid models surprised everyone with a 39% increase in sales, rising to 9,100 units in August 2025 from 6,534 units the previous year. This surge underscores Toyota’s growing popularity in the hybrid sector. Hyundai Venue’s sales reached 8,109 units, an 11% decrease from the 9,085 units in August 2024. Despite the decline, it remains a strong contender in the compact SUV segment. Kia Sonet’s sales fell to 7,741 units, a 23% decrease compared to 10,073 units the previous year.

Mahindra Thar saw a remarkable increase, with 6,997 units sold this August, up from 4,268 units last year, a 64% increase. This demonstrates the growing craze for the Thar among consumers.

Tata Safari: The SUV is expected to be launched between January and March, with a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine. This is a three-row model with 6 and 7 seating options, and it remains to be seen if the power and torque will be adequate.

Several new cars have already launched in the Indian market in the first eight months of 2025, but the year isn’t over, meaning automakers may launch more exciting cars. New…

Several new cars have already launched in the Indian market in the first eight months of 2025, but the year isn’t over, meaning automakers may launch more exciting cars. New models might be launched during or before the festive season to boost sales. Auto companies like Hyundai, Renault, Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, and Vinfast are ready to make a splash with their new models in 2025.

**Renault Kiger Facelift**

The Kiger Compact SUV facelift is expected to launch on August 24, 2025, almost four years after its initial launch. It will be introduced to customers with a new design and features, but the engine is not expected to undergo any changes, meaning it may retain the 1.0-liter petrol engine.

**Maruti Escudo**

Maruti Suzuki is also gearing up to compete with Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, with the launch of the new 5-seater SUV Escudo on September 3, 2025. This car will be sold through the company’s Arena showrooms after launch and will be largely based on the Grand Vitara. A CNG variant of this SUV is also expected.

**New Gen Hyundai Venue**

The next-generation model of the Hyundai Venue will be launched on October 24, 2025. It has been spotted several times during testing. It will include many features similar to the Creta, along with a new design and interior.

**Vinfast VF6 and VF7**

Vinfast, a Vietnamese company, may soon launch two new electric SUVs in India for customers. Bookings for the VF6 and VF7 have already begun while the company is preparing this car locally at a factory in Tamil Nadu. The VINFAST VF7 might be launched with a 70.8kWh battery, offering a range of over 400 kilometers on a single charge, while the VINFAST VF6 electric SUV is expected to be equipped with a 59.6kWh battery and may also offer a range of over 400 kilometers.

**Tata Punch Facelift**

The Tata Punch has been one of the company’s most successful models in recent years, and its updated version is expected to launch by the end of this year. The 2025 Tata Punch facelift may be inspired by the Punch EV in terms of style and features. No engine changes are expected, meaning that even if this car gets a facelift, it will still have a 1.2-liter petrol engine.
