The Bangladesh Premier League witnessed another lopsided encounter as Dhaka Capitals steamrolled Noakhali Express by 7 wickets, extending the latter’s nightmare run to five defeats on the trot. This comprehensive win highlights the growing chasm between the league’s top contenders and bottom-dwellers.

Opting to bat, Noakhali Express hoped their top order would fire. An early 40-plus opening stand offered hope, but Dhaka Capitals’ bowlers, led by the wily Tanvir Islam, dismantled the innings. Islam’s 3/22 included the vital scalp of Mushfiqur Rahim, who top-scored with 52 but couldn’t accelerate.

The middle order imploded spectacularly, losing 7 wickets for just 65 runs. Noakhali managed 142 all out, a total Dhaka Capitals viewed as a cakewalk. Express captain admitted post-match that fielding lapses and poor shot selection cost them dearly.

In reply, Dhaka’s chase was clinical. Tanzid Hasan’s fireworks – 45 off 22 – laid the foundation, while Parvez Hossain Emon’s 38 provided stability. A brief wobble saw them at 102/3, but Thisara Perera’s late onslaught (32*) guided them home with 27 balls remaining.

Player of the Match Tanvir Islam credited team strategy, saying, ‘We stuck to our plans and executed well.’ For Noakhali, this loss intensifies pressure on the management. With playoffs looming, they must address batting inconsistencies and bowling leaks urgently.

Dhaka Capitals now eye a top-two finish, bolstered by this morale-boosting win. The BPL narrative shifts focus to how Noakhali rebounds – or if they can at all – in the coming matches.

The day of October 2nd proved to be a momentous one for Bangladesh in the realm of cricket. The team scripted not one, but two victories. Bangladesh first triumphed over Pakistan and then Afghanistan, resulting in a double celebration. These wins, however, did not occur at a single stadium or venue, nor were they part of the same series or tournament. The two wins were separated by a distance of approximately 3300 kilometers. The first victory was achieved by the Bangladesh women’s cricket team against Pakistan in the ICC ODI World Cup match held in Colombo. The second victory was secured by the Bangladesh men’s cricket team in the first T20 series match held in Sharjah.

Bangladesh’s women’s team defeated the Pakistani women in the ODI World Cup match. In the men’s T20 series opener, Bangladesh chased down the target, winning by 7 wickets with 13 balls remaining.

In the first match of the 3 T20 series, which began on October 2nd, Afghanistan batted first, scoring 151 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. In response, the Bangladesh team, chasing 152 runs, had an opening partnership that looked set to secure an easy win. The openers scored 109 runs together. Both Bangladesh openers scored half-centuries. Tanzid Hasan scored 51 runs off 37 balls, while Parvez Hossain Emon also played 37 balls and scored 54 runs.

However, the opening partnership was broken, and Bangladesh’s wickets began to tumble. The team lost 6 wickets in the next 9 runs, with Rashid Khan playing a significant role. The Afghan captain delivered his second-best performance with the ball against Bangladesh, taking 4 wickets for 18 runs in 4 overs.

Despite the collapse, Nurul Hasan and Rishad Hossain steadied Bangladesh’s innings, steering the team towards victory. Nurul Hasan remained unbeaten with 23 runs, and Rishad Hossain scored 14 runs. Parvez Hossain Emon was named the hero of Bangladesh’s victory for his innings of 54 runs. With this win, Bangladesh took a 1-0 lead in the 3 T20 series.

In a thrilling match of the Asia Cup 2025, Bangladesh emerged victorious against Afghanistan with a narrow 8-run win. The Group B encounter, held at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, saw Bangladesh keeping its hopes alive for a spot in the Super-4 stage. Tanzid Hasan’s explosive half-century, coupled with the impactful bowling of Nasum Ahmed, Rishad Hossain, and Mustafizur Rahman, propelled Bangladesh to victory. The match was crucial, drawing attention not only from Bangladesh and Afghanistan fans but also from Sri Lanka, as the outcome would determine the Super-4 qualification scenario. Bangladesh, batting first, saw openers Saif Hasan (30) and Tanzid Hasan boost the scoring rate after a slow start. Tanzid Hasan’s aggressive batting against Afghan bowlers saw the team amass 59 runs in the powerplay without losing a wicket. Although the run rate slowed down later, with captain Litton Das’s early dismissal contributing to this, Tanzid completed his half-century in 28 balls. His dismissal led to a slowdown in Bangladesh’s scoring, eventually reaching 154 runs. Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad of Afghanistan took two wickets each.
