Windhoek’s High Performance Oval witnessed a one-sided affair in the Under-19 World Cup 2026 as Afghanistan bowled out Tanzania for a paltry 85 all out in 36 overs during their Group D clash on Wednesday. Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Tanzania’s batsmen struggled against disciplined Afghan bowling, managing only two fours and zero sixes in their entire effort.

The collapse began early. At 1.4 overs, Akre Pascal Hugo fell for 3, followed immediately by Darpan Jobanputra’s duck. By 5 runs, both openers were back in the hut. Ayan Sharif (8) and Rehan Atif (11) offered brief resistance, but the innings never recovered. Captain Laksh Bakrania (10 off 46) and Agostino Meya Mwamkele (14 off 49) forged the best stand of 35 for the fifth wicket, but it wasn’t enough to push the score beyond 85.

Nooristani Umarzai was the wrecker-in-chief, his 7-over spell yielding 5 wickets for just 9 runs, featuring two maiden overs. Support came from Uzaireullah Niyazi (2/9), with Wahidullah Jadrani and Khatir Stanikzai chipping in with one scalp apiece.

Tanzania’s nightmare continues in Group D, sitting fourth after losses to West Indies (by 5 wickets) and a humiliating 329-run defeat to South Africa. Another loss in their upcoming fixture will end their tournament hopes. For Afghanistan, this win boosts their semifinal aspirations, showcasing their bowling prowess on a challenging Windhoek pitch.
