The Congress high command has rolled out its Rajya Sabha nominees, signaling confidence in its state-level arithmetic ahead of the March 16 polls. This calculated lineup features heavyweights poised to extend the party’s influence in the House of Elders.

Teaming up in Telangana are Abhishek Manu Singhvi, renowned for his sharp legal mind and loyalty, and Vem Narendra Reddy, a key advisor to CM Revanth Reddy. Their candidacy underscores the party’s firm grip on the state’s two seats.

In Chhattisgarh, Phulo Devi Netam gets another shot, renewing her mandate as a tribal voice. Originally from Kondagaon, the 54-year-old leader’s first term since 2020 has been marked by diligent committee work and community outreach. Party insiders credit her rapport for this repeat endorsement.

Diversity defines the rest: Karamvir Singh Buddha from Haryana represents Dalit empowerment efforts; Anurag Sharma from Himachal brings youthful vigor; and M. Christopher Tilak from Tamil Nadu fortifies southern flanks.

With nominations due by end of day March 5, scrutiny on the 6th, and withdrawals up to March 9, the stage is set for a predictable outcome where Congress holds sway. Counting begins same day post-polling, promising quick results in strongholds.
