Family feuds over property set the stage: Shakuntala and her younger son Amit clashed repeatedly with elder son Ajay, who had moved out in 2017. Desperate measures led Amit to enlist Mishra, a fellow hospital worker with a shady history, offering Rs 4 lakh for Ajay’s elimination—Rs 1 lakh paid in advance.

Mishra took the cash and vanished, prompting Shakuntala and Amit to chase him down and press for results. He assured them of imminent action. Teaming up with Ketan alias KT Ramsundar Tiwari, Mishra visited Shakuntala’s home four months later. With Amit incarcerated elsewhere, the house was vulnerable.

Plans shifted from assassination to theft. After an overnight stay, they smothered Shakuntala with a pillow at dawn, making off with hefty cash and gold worth a fortune, which they liquidated in Uttar Pradesh. Mishra’s flight involved cutting all digital ties—no phones, no official IDs—and constant relocations across Goa, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad since 2022.

A blend of tech intel and local tip-offs culminated in his arrest. As DCP Ajit Rajian explained, the police are now syncing with Raipur authorities for remand and trial. This case underscores how family greed can spiral into tragedy, and how law enforcement’s long arm eventually catches up.

The affair came to light when Vijay learned of Neetu’s relationship with another man. His vocal opposition fueled their rage, leading to a sinister pact between Neetu and her paramour to silence him permanently.
