The van overturned into a ditch, resulting in the deaths of five Kanwariyas. Four other individuals sustained injuries. The vehicle was reportedly carrying nine people. The van came into contact with a live electrical wire, causing the driver to lose control and the vehicle to plunge into the ditch. Five people died after being trapped under the van. Some occupants managed to escape by jumping out.

Two of the injured are in critical condition, while the other two have minor injuries. Following the accident, all the passengers were swiftly transported to the Shahkund Community Health Center for treatment. The van was en route from Sultanganj to Jyeshthgaur Nath carrying Kanwariyas when the accident happened near Mahto Sthan on the Sultanganj main road in the Shahkund police station area.

It demands extraordinary physical endurance and unwavering determination. This tradition is particularly popular in the Purvanchal, Bihar, and Jharkhand regions.

Dak Bam Kanwariyas Receive Special Facilities

Dak Bam Kanwariyas are provided with special facilities in Baba Dham. They have a separate queue for Jalabhishek and are given priority in performing the Jalabhishek. Other devotees also make way for them so that they can continue their journey to the Shivling without any hindrance. If a Dak Bam stops anywhere, their journey is considered incomplete.
