Four students from Balotra, Rajasthan, faced unexpected challenges when they traveled to Haldwani, Uttarakhand, encountering heavy rain and landslides that rendered the roads impassable. Undeterred, they devised a unique solution to reach their exam center. These students, Omaram Choudhary, Magaram Choudhary, Prakash Choudhary, and Lucky Choudhary, all pursuing a B.Ed. degree through Uttarakhand Open University, were scheduled to take their final semester exam at RS Tolia PG College in Munsiyari on September 3rd. After their road journey to Haldwani was disrupted, they learned about helicopter services and contacted Heritage Aviation. They explained that missing the exam would result in a wasted academic year. The company arranged a special helicopter with two pilots to transport them. The students successfully arrived at the exam center, completed their exam, and returned to Haldwani via helicopter. The road distance between Haldwani and Munsiyari is approximately 280 kilometers and typically takes 10 hours, while the helicopter journey was a mere 25-30 minutes. The students, now working as teachers, expressed their initial discouragement due to the challenging conditions but were able to take the exam. They found the helicopter trip thrilling and meaningful, as it marked the completion of their final semester exam.

In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad) activists staged a vigorous demonstration outside the residence of Cabinet Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar late Tuesday night. The protest was in response to a police baton charge on students at the Shri Ram Swaroop Memorial University (SRMU) in Barabanki on Monday and the minister’s allegedly controversial remarks.

During the demonstration, the protesting students vehemently shouted slogans against Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar and the government. A tense clash erupted between the students and the police, after which the police detained several activists and took them to Eco Garden. The situation in the area became tense for a while due to the demonstration.

On Monday, ABVP activists and students protested against the lack of recognition for the LLB course and alleged illegal activities at the Ram Swaroop University in Barabanki. It is alleged that the university has been running law courses without recognition from the Bar Council of India (BCI) since 2022, jeopardizing the future of the students. During the protest, the police carried out a baton charge, injuring more than 24 students.

Some students sustained serious injuries in the baton charge and were admitted to Mayo Hospital and the district hospital. Students allege that the police not only carried out a brutal baton charge, but also that external goons, at the behest of the university administration, attacked the students. This incident has created a political storm across the state.

The anger of the protesting students intensified when Cabinet Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar allegedly made controversial remarks about the injured students. The minister stated that the police rightly used batons on ABVP goons. Condemning this as insulting, ABVP workers held a sit-in outside Rajbhar’s residence on Tuesday night and burned an effigy. During the protest, angry students climbed the gate of the residence and raised slogans against the government and police administration.

Pushpendra Bajpai, the Awadh province secretary of ABVP, said, “Our demand is that strict action should be taken against the university administration and the guilty policemen. Our agitation will continue until justice is served to the injured students.”

Heavy police force was deployed at the scene to control the demonstration. As soon as the students started raising slogans by climbing the gate, the police tried to stop them. During this, there was a scuffle and a heated argument. The police used mild force to control the situation and took several protesters into custody and took them to Eco Garden.

This incident also gave the opposition parties an opportunity to attack the government. The Samajwadi Party (SP)’s student wing, Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha, and NSUI demonstrated in front of Raj Bhavan in Lucknow in support of ABVP. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav termed it a fight for dominance between the ruling parties and demanded compensation of one lakh rupees each for the injured students and proper treatment. Congress MP Tanuj Punia also condemned the police action by visiting the injured students at the trauma center.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of the matter and ordered immediate action. Barabanki CO City Harshit Chauhan was removed, while Kotwali SHO Ramkishan Rana and outpost in-charge Gajendra Singh were put on the line. Along with this, the Divisional Commissioner of Ayodhya and IG have been directed to investigate. The CM has also issued orders to investigate the validity of the university’s degree.

ABVP and other student organizations have demanded that the Vice Chancellor of the university be dismissed, the expelled students be reinstated, and a clear position be presented regarding the recognition of the law degree. The students have warned that if their demands are not met, the agitation will be intensified.

At a ceremony held in the secretariat सभागार on Tuesday, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren distributed appointment letters to newly appointed trained teachers, assistant professors, and lab assistants. He also honored outstanding students from Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC), Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE), and CM School of Excellence, along with successful students from the state government-run Akanksha Coaching. The Chief Minister stated that the government is committed to giving Jharkhand a distinct identity in the field of education. Significant steps have been taken in this direction, and the positive results are encouraging efforts to further improve the education system, with the goal of taking education to new heights. The Chief Minister added that every individual in the state must contribute to the rapid progress of Jharkhand in the field of development. He emphasized that Jharkhand will become a leading and strong state through collective efforts. The government is continuously working to strengthen the education system, with several existing schemes and more initiatives planned for the future. The aim is to make the education system excellent, equipping schools with resources and providing better and modern education to students. The Chief Minister announced the co-education of Netarhat Residential School, allowing girls to enroll. He also stated that three more schools will be opened on the lines of Netarhat Residential School, which is now affiliated with CBSE and provides education in English medium. The government’s aim is to ensure that students in government schools are not at a disadvantage compared to those in private schools. The Chief Minister highlighted the competitive era, acknowledging that government schools previously faced challenges. However, the government is now working to improve government schools, including the establishment of Chief Minister’s Excellence Schools, where children receive education similar to private schools. He noted the high demand for admissions in these schools, with students from private schools also enrolling, proving that government schools are now on par with private schools. The government is encouraging students through various means. Top-performing students from all boards will receive honorarium along with laptops and mobile phones, to support their further studies. Top performers from various boards will receive their honorarium immediately after the publication of results, preventing any financial difficulties in enrolling for further education. The Chief Minister symbolically handed over appointment letters to some of the 33 newly appointed postgraduate trained teachers, 909 assistant professors (Mathematics and Science), and 33 lab assistants. Top students from JAC, CBSE, and ICSE boards received an honorarium of three lakh rupees along with laptops and smartphones. Scooters were also given to JAC board toppers.
A devastating incident in the Dumka district of Jharkhand claimed the lives of four young friends who ventured into the Mayurakshi River. The students, identified as Krishna Singh, Aryan Kumar, Krish, and Aryan Thakur, all between the ages of 16 and 17, went for a swim on Thursday evening. Due to heavy rainfall, the river’s water level had risen significantly, and the current became treacherous. The friends, unaware of the danger, entered the water and were swept away by the strong current. Local divers recovered the bodies after an extensive search operation, which took several hours. The incident caused widespread grief and shock in the community, with families mourning the tragic loss of the four students. This event serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by swollen rivers, especially during monsoon season. Authorities have cautioned the public to avoid entering rivers with high water levels due to the inherent risks involved.

The Chhattisgarh government has extended the admission deadline for all educational institutions in the state to accommodate students. Following the instructions of Higher Education Minister Tank Ram Verma, the Higher Education Department issued an order extending the final date for admissions for the academic year 2025-26 to September 5, 2025.

The initial deadline set by the Higher Education Department was August 14, 2025. This decision to extend the deadline was made in consideration of potential vacant seats. The extended deadline provides relief to students who were unable to complete the admission process within the original timeframe. Students can now secure their admissions in colleges until the new deadline. The decision was widely welcomed by students and their parents who anticipate that it will safeguard the future of thousands of students and provide them with opportunities for higher education. A copy of this order has been sent to all universities, government colleges, and relevant officials.
