LOS ANGELES: “Stranger Things” season four volume one has become the most viewed English-language series on Netflix by breaking the record for the biggest ever premiere weekend of “Bridgerton 2”.

The sci-fi series, created by the Duffer Brothers, returned to the streamer after a gap of three years with seven episodes.

The second volume is set to release on July 1 with two episodes.

According to Netflix’s newly released Top 10 rankings, Season four of the Duffer Brothers’ hit sci-fi series was viewed for 287 million hours during the week of May 23-30, landing in the No.1 position following its premiere on May 27, reported Variety.

All four seasons of “Stranger Things” made it back into Netflix’s Top 5 titles for the week of May 23-30.

Taking the No.3 spot with 28 million hours viewed was Season 1 of “Stranger Things”, which first crept back into the Top 10 last week as fans rewatched the series in preparation for Season 4.

Season 3 followed right behind in fourth place with 24.2 million hours, followed by Season 2 in fifth place with 22.2 million hours.

“Bridgerton” Season 2 was viewed for 193 million hours over its debut weekend, which occurred during the week of March 21-27.

That impressive three-day viewership was a record-breaker for the streamer, with “Bridgerton” Season 2 becoming the most-watched Netflix English-language TV title in its premiere weekend in Netflix history.

“Stranger Things 4” now holds that title by breaking the previous record by nearly 50 per cent.

The series, which first premiered on the streamer in 2016, has already been renewed for its fifth and final season.

  • WATCH | Netflix unveils spoofy teaser of ‘Stranger Things’ season 4

    By ANI

WASHINGTON: Netflix on Saturday, September 26, 2021, unveiled a string of cryptic looks at season 4 of ‘Stranger Things’ that centres on a house belonging to Robert Englund’s character.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix offered up the most extensive look at ‘Stranger Things 4’ at a fan event on Saturday.

The teaser offers insights into the Creel house — which co-creator Matt Duffer called “a super important location” for the upcoming season.

The 90-second spoofy teaser opens with a flashback to the 1950s, where a family of four moves into a beautiful home, then follows a set of increasingly disturbing events before moving forward to the show’s 1980s setting as Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Steve (Joe Keery) and the rest of the crew break into the house in search of something mystic.

The upcoming season will also introduce a new character named Victor Creel, played by horror legend Robert Englund, who is also one of several new cast members in ‘Stranger Things’ season 4, slated to premiere sometime in 2022.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Creel is described as a disturbed, intimidating man who was imprisoned in a psychiatric hospital after a gruesome murder in the 1950s.

Executive producer Shawn Levy told The Hollywood Reporter in August that season four of the series is “by far the most ambitious, cinematic, sprawling and epic season that we’ve ever done … by a lot.”

Jamie Campbell Bower, Eduardo Franco and Joseph Quinn will have regular roles and Amybeth McNulty, Myles Truitt, Regina Ting Chen, Grace Van Dien, Tom Wlaschiha, Nikola Djuricko, Mason Dye and Sherman Augustus will be reprising their roles in the upcoming season of the series.

  • WATCH | ‘Stranger Things’ season 4 teaser focuses on Eleven, hints at Dr Martin Brenner’s return

    By ANI
WASHINGTON: Almost 15 months after ‘Stranger Things’ debuted the first Season 4 teaser, the hugely popular Netflix series now has released a new glimpse from the upcoming season whose production was disrupted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Deadline, the second trailer teased the rumoured return of Dr. Martin Brenner, played by Matthew Modine. The video appears to be set at the Hawkins National Laboratory run by Brenner where he raised, trained, and performed experiments on children with psychokinetic abilities, including Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), who called him Papa.

At the end of the new teaser, as the camera stops in front of a door with the number 11 on it, Dr. Brenner (whose face is never seen) is heard asking, “Are you listening, Eleven?,” as she opens her eyes.

It is not clear whether this is a flashback, a dream, if Eleven has been captured and imprisoned again or she is using her telekinetic abilities to find Dr. Brenner in the present time. While Dr. Brenner originally appeared to be killed by the Demogorgon in Season 1, it was hinted in Seasons 2 and 3 that he is alive, which also was confirmed by the series’ producers.

The first Season 4 trailer, released on February 14, 2020, teased the return of another ‘Stranger Things’ character that had been feared dead, David Harbour’s Hopper.

“We’re excited to officially confirm that production on Stranger Things 4 is now underway — and even more excited to announce the return of Hopper,” series creators The Duffer Brothers wrote in a note to fans that accompanied the release of that first teaser.

A month later, filming was suspended due to the escalating coronavirus pandemic. It resumed in late September. No premiere date for the new season, which is still in production, has been set yet.

Created by Matt and Ross Duffer, ‘Stranger Things’ is produced by Monkey Massacre Productions and 21 Laps Entertainment. The twin brothers serve as writers, directors, executive producers, and showrunners on the series alongside executive producer/director Shawn Levy and executive producer Dan Cohen of 21 Laps and executive producer Iain Paterson.
