The Assam government is accelerating the probe into singer Zubeen Garg’s mysterious death with the formation of a dedicated fast-track court that will hold hearings every single day. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made the announcement, highlighting it as a vital advancement in securing justice.

In a post on X, Sarma detailed how Gauhati High Court Chief Justice appointed Baksa District Judge Sharmila Bhuyan to oversee the trial. ‘Our efforts for justice in the Zubeen Garg murder have reached a key stage today,’ he stated, emphasizing the daily trial schedule to avoid drawn-out legal battles.

What began as a tragic scuba diving mishap on September 19, 2025, off Singapore’s St. John’s Island has evolved into a complex murder investigation. Garg was found to have been swimming sans life jacket and unconscious at the time of drowning, fueling conspiracy theories and public outrage.

The SIT’s chargesheet implicates seven people: four directly accused of murder—an event organizer, manager, band member, and co-singer—facing grave charges. A former police officer relative of Garg is charged with negligent homicide. The victim’s family has been vocal in demanding prompt judicial action.

Sarma thanked the judiciary for endorsing the government’s plea for this special setup. This move not only fast-tracks the process but also signals a robust commitment to efficient justice. As the trial unfolds daily, eyes are on the court to unravel the truth behind the beloved singer’s untimely demise and deliver verdicts that resonate with public expectations.

Uttar Pradesh’s industrial landscape faced a grim setback with the fatal accident at Badaun’s CBG plant, prompting Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to launch a high-level SIT investigation. Led by the Bareilly Mandal Commissioner, the team is tasked with uncovering the truth behind the unfortunate event.

Breaking the news on X, the CM stressed immediate action and pledged an impartial inquiry. The probe will scrutinize operational failures, security gaps, and possible foul play to identify culprits for stringent punishment.

Even as the primary suspect remains in custody, the investigation widens to detect any larger conspiracy. True to its zero-tolerance mantra, the UP administration vows zero leniency for offenders, reinforcing public trust in governance.

Authorities wasted no time bolstering the site’s defenses, installing a dedicated police chowki to monitor activities round-the-clock. This move aims to fortify protections at vital industrial hubs statewide.

In a poignant message, Yogi conveyed deep sympathy to grieving families, promising unwavering governmental aid. He instructed probe officials to leave no room for oversight, ensuring swift justice.

As the SIT gears up, this case underscores pressing needs for enhanced safety protocols in emerging green energy sectors like biogas plants, with the state leading by example in crisis management.

New Delhi’s legal corridors buzzed with activity as the Supreme Court delivered a crucial bail order to prominent lawyer Akhilesh Dubey on Monday, overturning a prior rejection by the Allahabad…

New Delhi’s legal corridors buzzed with activity as the Supreme Court delivered a crucial bail order to prominent lawyer Akhilesh Dubey on Monday, overturning a prior rejection by the Allahabad High Court in a high-profile extortion and threat case. Dubey, jailed since August 2025, approached the top court after exhausting lower remedies.

According to insights from his advocate Satyam Dwivedi, the sequence of events revealed a pattern of targeted harassment. ‘All six cases were registered on a single day, clearly motivated by ill will,’ Dwivedi revealed. The Supreme Court bench delved into SIT-submitted complaints, scrutinized Dubey’s clean criminal history, and noted how subsequent FIRs cascaded from one primary allegation—many of which were deemed improperly filed due to evidentiary gaps.

Recalling the High Court’s stance, Dwivedi pointed out that Justice Santosh Rai dismissed the bail citing 47 ongoing cases, fears of evidence tampering, and the seriousness of BNS charges from Kanpur’s Barra station. Yet, Supreme Court hearings exposed the fragility of these claims, with investigations yielding no concrete proof in several instances.

This bail grant not only frees Dubey but signals hope for relief in parallel proceedings. ‘The court’s acceptance of our arguments boosts prospects in other matters,’ Dwivedi affirmed. The decision arrives amid growing scrutiny over how multiple FIRs can be weaponized against individuals, particularly lawyers advocating contentious causes.

Legal experts view this as a rebuke to overzealous policing and judicial caution in bail matters. Dubey’s release could prompt reviews of similar cases, emphasizing the need for robust evidence before prolonged detentions. As the lawyer resumes his practice, the focus shifts to ongoing probes and potential accountability for procedural lapses.

A dramatic turn in Kerala’s Sabarimala gold theft investigation has opposition parties up in arms after the temple’s head priest, Tantri Kantaru Rajeevaru, secured bail following 40 days behind bars.…

A dramatic turn in Kerala’s Sabarimala gold theft investigation has opposition parties up in arms after the temple’s head priest, Tantri Kantaru Rajeevaru, secured bail following 40 days behind bars. The LDF government faces accusations of orchestrating a vendetta, charges it has vehemently denied amid escalating legislative tensions.

In a pointed rebuttal, Law Minister P. Rajeev underscored the independence of the SIT’s work. He detailed how the arrest rested on concrete evidence, dismissing claims of ruling party meddling or a plot linked to the Tantri’s anti-women entry activism at Sabarimala.

Rajeevaru’s arrest had sent shockwaves through devotees and political circles alike. His bail application highlighted alleged political grudge-holding due to his role in past temple entry agitations. The Vigilance Court’s recent decision to release him cited insufficient proof of direct involvement in the gold pilferage from the revered shrine.

Opposition chief V.D. Satheesan has seized the moment, calling for the SIT to publicly outline the precise offenses pinned on the Tantri and justify the extended remand. He linked the timing to efforts to bury CPI(M)-related scandals, referencing celebratory posts on social media from LDF backers that portrayed the arrest as a governmental triumph.

Echoing earlier demands from January 11, the UDF insists on accountability for everyone implicated, from high-profile figures to religious leaders. Transparency is key, they argue: let justice proceed, but under the high court’s watchful eye to prevent any miscarriage.

The SIT’s choice to drop plans for a bail appeal signals caution, perhaps to quell narratives of bias against the Tantri. With the investigation already judicially monitored, the LDF is grappling with a narrative of overreach that could erode public trust in its handling of the sensitive case.

Mystery shrouds the death of a teenage student who fell from the seventh floor of a Patna apartment-turned-coaching center. Was 16-year-old Class 12 student pushed to her death, or did…

Mystery shrouds the death of a teenage student who fell from the seventh floor of a Patna apartment-turned-coaching center. Was 16-year-old Class 12 student pushed to her death, or did she leap herself? An SIT’s innovative crime scene reconstruction using weighted dummies is set to provide answers.

Tuesday’s operation at Fulwari Sharif’s Sumitra Heights saw four precisely crafted dummies dropped from the rooftop. Matching the victim’s physique, they were released from multiple perspectives by FSL specialists, as explained by City SP West Bhanu Pratap Singh.

“This scientific method helps discern injury patterns—whether from a shove, slip, or voluntary jump,” Singh elaborated. The exercise addresses key questions post-autopsy, which ruled out sexual assault but left the manner of fall ambiguous.

The drama unfolded on February 12 when CCTV showed the girl heading to the roof alone. Police swiftly nabbed four apartment staffers on suspicion, though no direct links surfaced in custody. An 11-member SIT was formed to dissect the case threadbare.

SP Singh highlighted the reconstruction’s value: it simulates real conditions to differentiate single versus multiple trauma points, critical for validating theories. Expert opinions on the dummies’ trajectories will guide next-phase interrogations.

This high-stakes probe reflects broader concerns over student safety in unregulated urban coaching hubs. As data pours in, Patna police edge closer to truth, offering hope for justice in a tragedy that has gripped the city.

The Kerala High Court has stepped up its oversight in the high-profile Suraj Lama death probe, revising its directive to place a senior DIG at the helm of the Special…

The Kerala High Court has stepped up its oversight in the high-profile Suraj Lama death probe, revising its directive to place a senior DIG at the helm of the Special Investigation Team, moving away from the originally specified Police Commissioner.

This adjustment came during Monday’s hearing before Justices Devan Ramachandran and M.B. Snehaltha, prompted by submissions from the state’s legal representative. The February 11 interim order had earlier called for leadership at the Commissioner level.

Lama’s ordeal began upon his deportation from Kuwait and arrival at Kochi. Despite appearing extremely weak and disoriented—suffering from apparent mental and physical frailties—he was permitted to exit the airport without assistance. He went missing soon after, only for his decomposed remains to be found in Kalamassery, positively identified through forensics.

Judicial scrutiny intensified as the court grilled authorities on protocols for deportees in vulnerable conditions. ‘Is there any standard operating procedure for such cases?’ the bench had questioned earlier, underscoring administrative lapses.

Refusing to dispose of the habeas corpus plea even after body identification, the court has now instructed the SIT to meticulously document every event from Lama’s touchdown to his demise. Murder remains a viable angle, officials noted.

This leadership change signals the court’s push for a thorough, unbiased inquiry. Stakeholders await revelations that could reform airport security and expatriate repatriation processes across India.

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has kept alive the investigation into the untimely death of Suraj Lama, deported from Kuwait and mysteriously vanishing upon arrival in India. Rejecting pleas to dispose of the habeas corpus petition, Justices Devan Ramachandran and M.B. Snehulata instructed authorities to meticulously document every step from his deportation to the discovery of his remains.

Arriving in Kochi on an official order, Lama looked weak and potentially unwell. Shockingly, despite these red flags, he was cleared by immigration and airport officials without any support, free to exit unassisted. A subsequent missing complaint prompted police action: he was placed in protective custody and hospitalized at Kalamassery Medical College.

Released after doctors deemed him fit, Lama’s body surfaced soon after in the same area. Forensic confirmation matched it to him, but the December 1, 2025, interim autopsy failed to pinpoint the cause due to severe decomposition.

‘This matter is far from resolved,’ the bench asserted, refusing to end proceedings just because identity was established. Directing a high-ranking SIT under the City Police Commissioner, the court highlighted potential failures in immigration protocols, custody procedures, and medical evaluation. It addressed petitioner concerns over homicide possibilities but focused on timeline scrutiny.

Government counsel presented the post-mortem details, yet the court demanded full files for review. With lapses under the microscope, the hearing resumes in three weeks, promising deeper scrutiny into what went wrong for the vulnerable deportee.

A fresh political storm has engulfed Bihar following sharp accusations by RJD stalwart and ex-CM Rabri Devi over the mysterious death of a NEET student. In a blistering attack during legislative protests, she charged the ruling dispensation with orchestrating a cover-up to protect a minister’s offspring in the high-profile case.

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary responded with a no-nonsense challenge, urging Rabri to furnish concrete evidence or brace for swift repercussions within 24 hours. The exchange has amplified tensions in the state assembly, highlighting fissures between NDA and opposition camps.

Recapping the incident, the 20-something aspirant from Jehanabad was discovered unresponsive in Chitrgupt Nagar hostel, Patna, last month. Despite medical interventions, she breathed her last on January 11, fueling suspicions of foul play. Rabri Devi, addressing Opposition MLAs, lambasted the government for dodging accountability and diverting the probe to CBI—a move she branded as futile given its central oversight.

“The government is shielding culprits because they are insiders,” Rabri asserted, decrying pervasive crime across Bihar districts and the home minister’s reticence. Her rhetoric painted a grim picture of lawlessness under Nitish Kumar’s watch.

Choudhary countered aggressively, vowing rigorous action irrespective of the accused’s stature. “We’re prioritizing daughters’ security; baseless smears won’t deter us,” he stated. Deputy CM Vijay Sinha’s visit to the bereaved family underscored official empathy amid the uproar.

JDU’s Neeraj Kumar dismissed Rabri’s outburst as publicity stunts, insisting Bihar’s administration upholds justice without favoritism. With SIT probing on-ground leads and CBI recommendation in play, the saga promises more revelations.

This episode not only spotlights student safety concerns in coaching hubs but also signals escalating pre-election skirmishes in Bihar’s volatile political landscape.

For the third straight day, the Kerala Assembly descended into pandemonium on Wednesday, with the spotlight firmly on the controversial Sabarimala gold theft investigation. The ruling CPI(M)-led coalition and Congress-dominated opposition traded barbs, turning the house into a battleground of accusations and counter-accusations.

UDF leaders charged that the Pinarayi Vijayan administration is hell-bent on wrapping up the probe hastily to bury inconvenient truths before elections. V.D. Satheesan, the opposition chief, spearheaded slogan-shouting protests, alleging the entire investigation was ‘manipulated’ to exonerate bigwigs. He lambasted the CM’s lighthearted reference to prior brawls as ‘jokes,’ urging stricter house discipline.

Satheesan pressed for deletion of offensive references to Sonia and Priyanka Gandhi from proceedings, a plea swiftly rebuffed by Minister M.B. Rajesh. ‘No insults were hurled from our side,’ Rajesh declared, flipping the script by blaming Congress for electoral opportunism.

Minister P. Rajeev upped the ante, probing the alleged ties between chief suspect Unnikrishnan Potti and Congress heavyweights. Ruling MLAs waved photographs as ‘evidence,’ only for opposition to counter with pics of Potti alongside LDF leaders, underscoring perceived hypocrisy.

The rancorous debate halted proceedings repeatedly, ending with UDF’s dramatic exit. With 13 arrests logged, the court-mandated SIT’s failure to submit charges within 90 days freed three suspects on bail, fueling opposition cries of sabotage.

Government spokespersons reiterated commitment to a fair, court-supervised inquiry, dismissing delays as procedural. This flare-up signals deepening political fissures, with the Sabarimala saga poised to dominate Kerala’s pre-election discourse.

A brazen job scam has rocked Motihari in Bihar, where a fraudster masquerading as a police insider swindled 42 unemployed youths out of lakhs by promising ‘Police Mitra’ roles. The operation’s audacity knew no bounds—it was conducted inside police stations, fooling even the families of retired staff.

Posing as influential, the con artist targeted jobless men from Motihari and nearby regions. He promised seamless induction into the police force as ‘friends’ with a Rs 16,000 monthly paycheck. To seal the deal, he flashed a fake DGP letter and herded victims to thanas for mock inductions, complete with ID cards.

Allegations have surfaced against Areraj’s female SHO for aiding the scam, particularly in recruiting sons of three retired watchmen. Each parted with Rs 20,000 initially, assured the rest would follow salary disbursement. The scam’s reach extended to Ghodasahan, Palanwa, and Govindganj, with victims strung along via repeated delays and fake meetings.

For months, the fraudster stalled payments, citing procedural hurdles and summoning victims to a Muzaffarpur hotel for false hopes. The scam unraveled as doubts mounted, leading to formal complaints. Superintendent of Police Swarn Prabhat has lodged an FIR at Kotwa thana and deployed a SIT led by an ASP to unearth the full extent of the fraud.

This case exposes glaring lapses in oversight at police outposts and highlights the desperation driving youth to such traps. Authorities vow swift action, but for the duped 42, recovery remains a distant dream amid the ongoing investigation.
