LOS ANGELES: Veteran producer and reality TV judge Simon Cowell suffered a bike accident last week and was hospitalised, claim multiple UK media reports.

The ‘America’s Got Talent’ judge had an accident near his London home last Thursday, was hospitalised and then released, the reports that emerged on Tuesday night claim, reports variety.com.

“Simon was on the e-bike with his electric motor on, when the bike slipped on a wet patch,” a source close to Cowell told The Mirror.

“He went flying over the handlebars into the middle of the road and is lucky to be alive as he wasn’t wearing a helmet. There was blood pouring from his face but luckily he managed to get some help from passers-by. He was taken to hospital and X-rays showed he broke his arm. He has his arm in a yellow cast and is on the mend now but will need to rest.”

Cowell broke his back in a bike accident in 2020 and had to take a break from television for surgery and extensive rehab and recovery. In 2021, his popular talent show ‘The X Factor’ was cancelled after 17 years.

He was initially due to judge music talent show ‘Walk the Line’, but was replaced by musician Gary Barlow.

He stayed on the show, focusing on his role as show creator and executive producer.

In 2021, Cowell also cancelled his scheduled appearance as a judge on the ‘The X Factor Israel’.

Cowell recently completed filming the new season of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, due to air in April.

  • Simon Cowell to judge musical game show ‘Walk The Line’

LOS ANGELES: Television personality Simon Cowell is set to judge “Walk The Line”, a new musical reality show with a gaming element.

According to Deadline, the project is the latest format from Cowell’s production house Syco Entertainment.

The six-part series will be produced for ITV in partnership with Lifted Entertainment, the ITV Studios banner behind “Love Island” and “I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here!”.

The top two performers on the upcoming show will face a nail-biting decision to be crowned champion — they either “cash out” with a tempting cash prize, or walk the line and play on.

In case they decide to stay in and top the leaderboard, they will then progress to the next show, facing a different cast of performers.

The longer the performers can stay in the contest, the bigger the prize money.

“Walk The Line” is slated to premiere later this year.

  • TV star Simon Cowell pulls out of ‘X Factor Israel’ jury duty

LOS ANGELES: Record producer and television personality Simon Cowell has cancelled his scheduled appearance as a judge on the upcoming season of “The X Factor Israel”.

The 61-year-old music mogul last December signed a deal to serve as one of the judges on the fourth installment of the Israel version of singing reality show.

On Sunday, a spokesperson for Reshet, which produces “The X Factor Israel”, told Variety that Cowell, who is the creator of the British original series “The X Factor”, was cancelling the appearance “for his own reasons”.

Amid rumours of his cancellation last week, a representative for the network said that members of Cowell’s staff had reached out with “legitimate concerns” over his participation in the show after the recent violence between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, but that at the time he had made no final decision.

Representatives for Cowell did not respond to multiple requests for comment.

Cowell broke his back in a bike accident last year and had to take a break from work for surgery and extensive rehab and recovery.

TV presenter Liron Weizman will host “The X Factor Israel”, which is slated to begin shooting this summer.

In the new season, Mizrahi singer Margalit Tzan’ani, singer-songwriter Aviv Geffen, and singer and eurovision 2018 winner Netta Barzilai will serve as judges.

After Cowell’s exit, a fourth judge is yet to be named.

Cowell currently appears as a judge on “America’s Got Talent”.
