LOS ANGELES: Producer Shonda Rhimes says she is not sticking around on Twitter after billionaire Elon Musk took control of the microblogging site.

Rhimes, known for backing shows such as “Grey’s Anatomy”, “Scandal” and “Bridgerton”, posted a message on Saturday suggesting she would no longer use the platform in the wake of the USD 44 billion acquisition of the social media giant by Musk.

“Not hanging around for whatever Elon has planned. Bye,” Rhimes, who joined Twitter in November 2008 and has 1.9 million followers, tweeted.

The TV mogul joins other notable Hollywood figures like “This Is Us” executive producer Ken Olin and “Billions” showrunner Brian Koppelman who have said they will no longer use Twitter with Musk at the helm.

On Thursday, when the deal was closed, Musk had tweeted, “the bird is freed”.

He had also tweeted to reassure advertisers that social messaging services wouldn’t devolve into “a free-for-all hellscape, where anything can be said with no consequences!”

  • Shonda Rhimes to produce White House set murder mystery ‘The Residence’ for Netflix

    By PTI

LOS ANGELES: After the success of “Bridgerton” and “Inventing Anna”, Shonda Rhimes and her longtime Shondaland partner Betsy Beers are producing another show for Netflix, a mystery drama set inside the White House.

Titled “The Residence”, the drama will use Kate Anderson Brower’s book “The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House” as a starting point to tell a new murder mystery, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The eight-episode drama is from showrunner and exec producer Paul William Davies, a Shondaland veteran whose credits include ABC’s “Scandal” and creating “For the People”.

The official logline of the eight-episode series reads: 132 rooms. 157 suspects. One dead body. One wildly eccentric detective. One disastrous State Dinner.

The Residence is a screwball whodunnit set in the upstairs, downstairs, and backstairs of the White House, among the eclectic staff of the world’s most famous mansion.

The Residence will be produced in-house at Netflix via Shondaland’s overall deal as well as the multiple-year pact Davies has with the streamer. “Grey’s Anatomy” producer’s Netflix roster includes “Bridgerton”, and the Rhimes-penned prequel, “Inventing Anna” and anthology “Notes on Love”.

“The Residence” is yet to have a premiere date. “Bridgerton”, a Regency-era romantic drama revolving around the children of a family, is among Netflix’s most successful shows and was praised for its colour-blind casting, while “Inventing Anna”, which has been dominating the streamer’s top-10 list, explores the life of Anna Sorokin, a Russian-German convicted con artist, and fraudster.

  • Shonda Rhimes’ Netflix show ‘Inventing Anna’ to premiere in Feb 2022

    By PTI

LOS ANGELES: American writer and producer Shonda Rhimes’ upcoming miniseries “Inventing Anna” will debut on Netflix in February 2022.

Starring Emmy winner Julia Garner, the show is based on the New York Magazine article “How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People” by Jessica Pressler.

“Inventing Anna” is the first show that Rhimes has created since ABC’s “Scandal”.

The series also stars Anna Chlumsky, Jennifer Esposito, Anna Deavere Smith, Jeff Perry, Anders Holm, Laverne Cox and Arian Moayed.

Written by Rhimes, the series follows a journalist (Chlumsky) with a lot to prove investigates the case of Anna Delvey (Garner), the Instagram-legendary German heiress who stole the hearts of New York’s social scene and stole their money as well.

“But is Anna New York’s biggest con woman or is she simply the new portrait of the American dream? Anna and the reporter form a dark funny love-hate bond as Anna awaits trial and our reporter fights the clock to answer the biggest question in NYC: who is Anna Delvey?” the official plotline read.

According to Variety, “Inventing Anna” follows the massive success of “Bridgerton”, which Rhimes and her company Shondaland executive produced.

Season two of “Bridgerton” is also set for premiere in 2022.

“Inventing Anna” is executive produced by David Frankel, Rhimes and Shondaland’s Betsy Beers. Pressler serves as a producer.

  • Peter Gallagher roped in for ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 18

    By ANI

WASHINGTON: Actor Peter Gallagher has joined the cast of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 18 that will debut on ABC next month.

People magazine has confirmed that Peter will be seen playing the role of Dr Alan Hamilton — a medical professional with ties to the title heroine’s mom, Dr Ellis Grey (Kate Burton).

Dr Ellis Grey famously died back in season three after suffering from Alzheimer’s, but later appeared to Meredith in a dream during season 15, which aired in 2019. Burton is slated to reprise her role in multiple episodes, including the season 18 kickoff.

The return of Ellis Grey to the show was announced earlier this month. The 66-year-old actor is slated to meet Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) in the season 18 premiere, which will debut on ABC on September 30.

Earlier this month, Pompeo, who has starred as the titular doctor in ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ for the entirety of its 17-season run, took to her Instagram Story to share that the production of the show’s 18th season had begun.

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ is the longest-running show on ABC currently. It was renewed for an 18th season back in May. Earlier, there had been speculations that Pompeo would exit the series after she expressed her desire to leave the show, in an interview.

ANC Signature is the producer of the show to which Krista Vernoff serves as the showrunner and executive producer. Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers also executive produce along with Mark Gordon. Debbie Allen serves as the producing director and executive producer.
