Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla Stadium witnessed a historic moment as Bangladesh opener Tanzieed Hasan Tamim celebrated his maiden international century in his 76th appearance. In the third ODI against Pakistan, Tanzieed’s gritty 107 off 107 balls, laced with 6 fours and 7 sixes, helped Bangladesh reach 213/3 after 40 overs.

Since debuting in late August 2023, Tanzieed has built an impressive resume: 1,120 T20I runs at 28 average with 11 half-centuries from 45 games, and 733 ODI runs at 25.27 from 31 outings. This breakthrough ton marks a turning point in his career, rewarding his persistence.

Opting to bowl after winning the toss, Pakistan skipper Shaheen Afridi saw Bangladesh surge ahead. Tanzieed and Saif Hassan forged a commanding 105-run partnership in 18.1 overs. Saif’s 36 came off 55 balls with three boundaries.

Post that, Tanzieed linked with Najmul Hossain Shanto for 53 runs. Shanto scored 27 off 34. Tanzieed’s elegant strokeplay dismantled the bowling, completing his ton amid cheers. Pakistan’s wickets were shared by Shaheen, Haris Rauf, and Abrar Ahmed.

The Pakistan XI: Shaheen Afridi (c), Sahibzada Farhan, Maaz Sadaqat, Ghazi Gory, Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Salman Agha, Abdul Samad, Faheem Ashraf, Saad Masood, Haris Rauf, Abrar Ahmed. Bangladesh XI under Mehidy Hasan Miraz: Saif Hassan, Tanzieed Hasan Tamim, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Litton Das (wk), Towhid Hridoy, Afif Hossain, Rishad Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Nahid Rana.

As the match unfolds, Tanzieed’s knock sets the stage for an exciting chase, highlighting Bangladesh’s growing depth in white-ball cricket.

Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla Stadium witnessed high drama as Bangladesh defended 290 to beat Pakistan by 11 runs, capturing the ODI series 2-1. Tanzid Hasan Tamim’s explosive century and Taskin Ahmed’s incisive bowling turned the tide in the hosts’ favor.

Pakistan had leveled the series 1-1 in the rain-affected second ODI via DLS, after Bangladesh’s dominant eight-wicket win in the first. The third match was do-or-die for both sides.

Bowled first, Bangladesh’s batsmen rose to the occasion. The opening pair of Saif Hassan (36 off 55, 3×4) and Tanzid amassed 105 in under 19 overs. Shanto’s 27 helped Tanzid add 53 more, reaching 158 for two.

Tanzid’s masterclass continued with Litton Das, adding 36 to hit 194. His 107 (107 balls, 6×4, 7×6) was a career-defining knock. Hridoy’s unbeaten 48 off 44, alongside Litton’s 41, propelled the total to 290/5. Rauf (3/52) led Pakistan’s attack.

Pakistan’s chase started disastrously at 82/5. Salman Agha’s heroic 106 (98 balls, 9×4, 4×6) included vital stands – 79 with Saad (38), 48 with Ashraf, and 52 with Shaheen (37) – but Taskin’s 4/49 derailed them. Mustafizur (3), Rana (2), and Rishad (1) ensured victory.

This series triumph underscores Bangladesh’s growing prowess in limited-overs cricket, with Tanzid emerging as a star and Taskin’s ‘four’ sealing the deal.

Dhaka is set to host the rubber match of the Pakistan-Bangladesh ODI series on Sunday, with both sides hungry for series glory after splitting the first two encounters.

In a stunning turnaround, Pakistan crushed Bangladesh by 128 runs in the second ODI. Mehran Sadakat’s all-round brilliance – 75 off 46 and 3/23 – headlined their effort, backed by Salman Agha’s gritty 64 and Rizwan’s 44. Shaheen Afridi (2/22) and Haris Rauf (3 wickets) then orchestrated a batting collapse, bundling Bangladesh out for 114 while defending 243.

Bangladesh had opened with a commanding 8-wicket win in the opener, but their batsmen crumbled like a house of cards in the second. Key players Tanzid, Saif, Shanto, and Litton Das underperformed, leaving Rishad Hossain and Mehidy Miraz’s wickets in vain.

Head-to-head stats tilt heavily towards Pakistan: 35 victories in 41 ODIs. The Sher-e-Bangla pitch, known for assisting pacers with seam movement and grip, has seen first-innings scores average 218 and chases 186 – perfect for a tense finish.

Rain threatens to disrupt proceedings, with predictions of showers, overcast skies, 31°C maximum, and 21°C minimum. As the series hangs in balance, tactical battles and individual heroics will decide the champion.
