  • Warner Bros pushes dates of Aquaman 2 and Shazam 2

    By Express News Service

Warner Bros is reportedly pushing the release dates of their upcoming DC films Shazam: Fury of the Gods and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Sources report that the Aquaman sequel needs more time in pre-production, so it is moving its release date from March 27, 2023, to December 25, 2023.

Shazam: Fury of the Gods has been pushing its release date from April 2022 to June and then finally to December 16, 2022.

Now, David F Sandberg’s sequel to Shazam is finally filling up Aquaman’s previous release date, which falls on March 17, 2023. The reason to move away from a December release is to avoid clashing with James Cameron’s long-awaited sequel, Avatar: Way of the Water, which is releasing on December 16,  2022.

Ever since David Zaslav took over as the CEO of Warner Bros, he has been making a slew of changes, including the controversial move to axe a number of projects. Batgirl was cancelled while it was almost complete, and awaiting a release date from the studio.

Meanwhile, The Flash, starring Ezra Miller, which has been in development hell for more than two years, is finally scheduled for June 2023release.

  • ‘Aquaman’, ‘Shazam!’ sequels pushed to later release dates

    By IANS

LOS ANGELES: Warner Bros. seems to be dealing with a delay bug as two of their films ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ and ‘Shazam!: Fury of the Gods’ will release later than planned.

The studio announced a slew of release date changes on Wednesday (Pacific Standard Time), pushing the ‘Aquaman’ follow-up from March 17, 2023, to December 25, 2023. The ‘Shazam!’ sequel will open on the date previously occupied by Jason Momoa’s hulking King of Atlantis, reports Variety.

The story about Zachary Levi’s Billy Batson was originally set to land in theatres on December 21, 2022.

According to Variety, on its new date, ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ will debut a few days after Disney’s ‘Star Wars’ spinoff ‘Rogue Squadron’ (December 23, 2023). Meanwhile, ‘Shazam!: Fury of the Gods,’ which was initially set to face off against James Cameron’s ‘Avatar: The Way of Water,’ now has free rein over its new opening weekend

Plus, a March release date worked well for Robert Pattinson’s Caped Crusader adventure ‘The Batman’ which collected $770 million globally, another DC Comics film.

Variety further states that as part of the calendar shuffle, an “untitled WB event film” has landed on February 10, 2023, ‘Evil Dead Rise’ has been scheduled for April 4, 2023, and ‘The Conjuring’ spinoff sequel ‘The Nun 2’ will be released on September 8, 2023.

‘Salem’s Lot’, which was slated for April 21, 2023, is being moved to a to-be-announced date in the same year.

  • Warner Bros showcases ‘Black Adam’, ‘Shazam!’ sequel at Comic-Con

    By PTI

LOS ANGELES:  Warner Bros dropped the official trailers of its much-awaited titles “Black Adam” and “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” as it returned to San Diego Comic-Con for the 2022 edition.

The studio stuck to its 2022 titles during the presentation and revealed no information about the upcoming “The Flash” and “Aquaman” sequel which features controversial stars Ezra Miller and Amber Heard, respectively.

For “Black Adam”, lead star Dwayne Johnson brought a new trailer for the DC Comics film, directed by Jaume Collet-Serra.

The actor, who showed up in costume, was joined by the director as well as cast members Aldis Hodge (Hawkman), Noah Centineo (Atom Smasher) and Quintessa Swindell (Cyclone) during the film’s presentation.

At one point, Johnson raised eyebrows after an audience member asked Johnson about how Black Adam would fare against Superman.

The actor replied, “It probably all depends on who’s playing Superman”, a remark that added to the uncertainty over Hollywood star Henry Cavill’s stint as the man of steel in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). “Black Adam” is scheduled to be released in theatres on October 21.

The team of “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” — Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Lucy Liu and director David F Sandberg — showcased the film’s official trailer during their presentation.

The movie, which is a sequel to Levi’s 2019 hit “Shazam!”, will make its debut in theatres on December 21.

Warner Bros made no presentations about “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” and “The Flash”, which will hit the screens in 2023, as the studio continues to find itself in imbroglio over Miller and Heard’s separate personal issues.

Miller, who headlines Andy Muschietti-directed “The Flash”, was twice arrested in Hawaii this year in a disorderly conduct case and on suspicion of assault.

Whereas, Heard made headlines recently owing to the high-profile defamation trial, in which her ex-husband Johnny Depp sued her for a 2018 Washington Post column which he said implied that he was physically abusive to her.

A jury found in June that they both defamed each other, but Depp was awarded millions more in damages against Heard, who was also incessantly trolled and mocked by Depp’s fans on social media. She filed a notice of appeal on July 21.

The actor stars as Mera in “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” opposite Jason Momoa. The film is scheduled to be released on March 17, 2023.
