  • Tom Cruise ‘would love to meet someone special’ after three failed marriages

    By IANS

LOS ANGELES: Hollywood star Tom Cruise has been married to Hollywood stars Mimi Rogers, Nicole Kidman and Katie Holmes, with the actor most recently being romantically linked to Shakira.

The unlikely pair met at the Formula 1 Grand Prix and while it seems Tom was “very interested in pursuing” the singer, she wasn’t so keen, reports mirror.co.uk.

A source has revealed Tom’s friends have now given him some dating advice as he searches for “the one.”

The comments come after it was revealed Shakira “begged” Tom to “stop flirting with her” as the situation became “too much” for her following her painful split with Gerard Pique.

The 46-year-old singer and Barcelona defender, 36, announced their shock breakup in June last year after 12 years together.

Gerard has since moved on with Clara Chia Marti, 24.

“She doesn’t want to embarrass or upset him, but there’s no attraction or romance on her part – she was just being friendly. She’s flattered but not interested,” an insider told Heat Magazine.

The insider added that Tom has been searching for the right woman for years and said he has “the highest standards” and won’t settle for “second best” in a potential lover.

  • Shakira’s new album will have ‘tell-all’ anthems about split with Gerard Pique

    By IANS

LOS ANGELES: Shakira’s ex-boyfriend Gerard Pique may want to cover his ears in the coming months as the pop sensation is set to hang their laundry out to dry all over the charts.

The 46-year-old Colombian singer was in a romance with 36-year-old Spanish football ace Gerard for 11 years from 2011 until 2022 and together they share sons Milan, 10, and Sasha, eight, reports ‘Mirror.co.uk’.

The breakup has been one of the most dramatic in recent showbiz years — with allegations of cheating, jam jar clues, and a diss track already racking up hundreds of millions of hits.

According to Mirror.co.uk, more ear-bashing tunes are in store for Gerard, as Shaky is said to be preparing to unleash hell — and all the details of the collapse of their relationship — in her upcoming album.

A music insider told The Sun: “Her next album is definitely going to be a tell-all record and she won’t be shy about letting everyone know what happened.

“She was working on another record before she had suspicions about infidelity, so those songs are being re-written with new endings to give fans a fuller picture of the truth.

“Those who’ve heard snippets say it blends Latin, rock, and hip hop and is more empowering than angry.”

Shakira has also been hitting out at her ex as he appears to have swiftly moved on from their break up — by dating a look-alike model.

  • Pop singer Shakira to face trial for tax fraud in Spain

    By Associated Press

BARCELONA: A Spanish judge on Tuesday approved a trial for Colombian pop singer Shakira on charges of tax fraud.

Spanish prosecutors accused the entertainer in 2018 of failing to pay 14.5 million euros ($13.9) in taxes on income earned between 2012 and 2014.

Prosecutors are seeking an eight-year prison sentence and a hefty fine if she is found guilty of tax evasion.

Shakira, 45, has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and rejected a deal with authorities to avoid going to trial.

Her public relations firm has said that she has already paid all that she owed and an additional 3 million euros ($2.8 million) in interest.

The date for the trial has yet to be set.

The case hinges on where Shakira lived during 2012-14.

Prosecutors in Barcelona have alleged the Grammy winner spent more than half of that period in Spain and should have paid taxes in the country, even though her official residence was in the Bahamas.

Shakira, whose full name is Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, has been linked to Spain since she started dating football player Gerard Pique.

The couple, who have two children, used to live together in Barcelona but recently ended their 11-year relationship.

Spain has cracked down on football stars like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo over the past decade for not paying their full due in taxes.

Both players were found guilty of evasion and received prison sentences that were waived for first-time offenders.

  • Music star Shakira to serve eight-year sentence in tax evasion case

    By AFP

BARCELONA: Prosecutors in Barcelona said Friday that they would seek a prison sentence of more than eight years against global music superstar Shakira, after she rejected a plea deal on accusations of tax evasion.

Prosecutors are demanding a fine of nearly 24 million euros on the 45-year-old “Hips don’t Lie” songstress, who is accused of defrauding the Spanish tax office out of 14.5 million euros ($14.7 million) on income earned between 2012 and 2014.

The court will now need to decide on holding a trial and set a date.

Prosecutors say Shakira moved to Spain in 2011 when her relationship with FC Barcelona defender Gerard Pique became public but maintained official tax residency in the Bahamas until 2015.

Shakira has slammed the “complete violation of her rights” and “abusive methods” by the prosecutors and say they were “insisting on claiming money earned during my international tours and the show ‘The Voice’” on which she was a judge in the United States, when she was “not yet resident in Spain”.

Shakira was on the singing competition show between 2013 and 2014.

Shakira’s defence team argues she moved to Spain full-time only in 2015 and has met all tax obligations.

She says she has paid 17.2 million euros to the Spanish tax authorities and she has “no debt to the treasury for many years”.

  • Shakira to head new dance competition series ‘Dancing With Myself’

    By ANI

WASHINGTON: Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira has partnered with NBC to head a new dance challenge series titled ‘Dancing with Myself’.

According to Variety, inspired by Shakira’s own passion for dance, ‘Dancing with Myself’ will be a family-friendly competition that aims to bring out the performer in people.

Every week a new group of dancers of all ages will compete in a series of dance challenges that are designed and demonstrated by the show’s celebrity creators, including Shakira.

Isolated in their own pods, contestants will have a limited amount of time to learn the routines as well as add their own unique flair. They will then be given the chance to perform the dance in front of a live audience.

As each round of the competition progresses, Shakira and her panel of judges will provide feedback and encouragement, leaving the audience with the decision of who wins Best Dancer of the Night to take home the cash prize.

“I’m excited to be a part of a dance competition that places such a high value on creative movement and how it translates into personal expression, not to mention how it contributes to a sense of community,” Shakira said.

She further added, “I’ve personally been blown away by some of the talents I’ve seen thanks to people having access to their own platforms through social media. Dance has been an incredibly potent force throughout my life, and I’m eager to show the world how transformative, empowering and fun it can be.”

As per Variety, Universal Television Alternative Studio and Irwin Entertainment are on board to produce the series. John Irwin, Dave Kuba, Eli Frankel and Ben Thursby-Palmer will executive produce, along with Jaime Levine and Shakira. ‘Dancing with Myself’ has been licensed by NBCUniversal Formats.
