Actor DeWanda Wise, best known for starring in Spike Lee’s Netflix comedy-drama series She’s Gotta Have It, has joined the cast of Three Women, a series fronted by Shailene Woodley. The series is reportedly an adaptation of Lisa Taddeo’s non-fiction book by the same name.

The show tells the story of three American women from different generations who suffer backlash for their sexual desires as well as their public and private pursuits of sexual independence and justice.

According to Variety, Wise will be essaying the role of Sloane, a glamorous entrepreneur in the Northeast, who has a committed open marriage. Taddeo will adapt her book to screen and serve as an executive producer on the show, while Laura Eason, Kathy Ciric, and Emmy Rossum are currently attached to serve as showrunners. Meanwhile, Wise was recently seen in the Kevin Heart-led family film, Fatherhood, and also has Jurassic World: Dominion in her pipeline.

  • Hollywood actor Shailene Woodley to headline ‘Three Women’ series

    By PTI
LOS ANGELES: Actor Shailene Woodley is set to star in the new hour-long series, titled “Three Women”.

The drama, set up at Showtime Network, is an official adaptation of the non-fiction bestseller of the same name by author Lisa Taddeo, reported Variety.

Showtime, which landed the book’s rights in summer 2019 in a major bidding war, has given the project a straight-to-series order.

The show will start production later this year.

Taddeo’s book tells the true multi-generational story of three American women — in their 20s, 30 and 40s — who suffered backlash for their sexual desires as well as their public and private pursuits of sexual independence and justice.

“Lina, a homemaker in suburban Indiana, is a decade into a passionless marriage when she embarks on an affair that quickly becomes all-consuming and transforms her life.

“Sloane, a glamorous entrepreneur in the Northeast, has a committed open marriage with Richard, until two sexy new strangers threaten their aspirational love story.

Maggie, a student in North Dakota, weathers an intense storm after accusing her married English teacher of an inappropriate relationship,” the official plotline read.

Woodley will portray Gia, a writer grieving the loss of her family who persuades each of the three spectacular “ordinary” women to tell her their stories, changing the course of her life forever in the process.

Taddeo will serve as writer and executive producer on the series, which will be showrun by Laura Eason.

Woodley is best known for featuring in critically-acclaimed shows such as “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” and “Big Little Lies”.

The actor has also starred in hit movies like “The Descendants”, “The Spectacular Now”, the “Divergent” franchise and “The Fault in Our Stars”.

Woodley will soon be seen in the film “The Last Letter From Your Lover” and indie thriller “Misanthrope”, both of which she also produced.

LOS ANGELES: “Big Little Lies” star Shailene Woodley has boarded the cast of “Robots”, an indie comedy set in near future.

Woodley is stepping in for Emma Roberts, who was originally attached to star in the film with actor-comic Jack Whitehall.

The movie is being co-directed by Oscar-nominated writer Anthony Hines and Casper Christensen.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Robots” is based on the short story by science fiction writer Robert Sheckley.

The plot follows Charles (Whitehall) and Elaine (Woodley) who trick people into relationships with illegal robot doubles of themselves.

When they unwittingly scam each other, their robot doubles fall in love and elope, forcing the duo to join forces and hunt them down before the authorities discover their secret.

Hines, known for “Borat” and its sequel, and Casper Christensen of “Klown” fame penned the screenplay.

“At a time when comedies are needed more than ever, I couldn’t be more delighted than to have Shailene and Jack team up to play the leads in this movie,” said Hines.

Woodley recently finished work on another indie, “Misanthrope” on which she serves as producer.

She stars in the upcoming film “The Last Letter from Your Lover”, which she also produced.

LOS ANGELES: Actor Shailene Woodley has reportedly got engaged to American football player Aaron Rodgers.

A source close to the Woodley, 29, and the Green Bay Packers quarterback told People magazine that they are serious about having a future together.

“They are very happy together. It’s not surprising he proposed so fast. When you know, you know, right?” the source told the outlet.

Last week, Rodgers, 37, had revealed that he was engaged during his acceptance speech for Most Valuable Player (MVP) award at NFL Honors.

But he did not confirm the identity of his fiance.

“It’s an honor to win this award for the third time. 2020 was definitely a crazy year filled with lots of change and growth, some amazing memorable moments,” he had said.

“One hundred eighty straight days of having my nose hair scraped, playing for very little fans or no stands the entire season. I got engaged,” he added.

  • Shailene Woodley is dating Aaron Rodgers?

    By ANI
WASHINGTON: Seems like love is in the air for American actor Shailene Woodley and NFL superstar Aaron Rodgers.

As per People magazine, the Green Bay Packers quarterback and ‘Big Little Lies’ actor are dating. One source told the publication that Rodgers seems very happy with Woodley, while another insider said that though the pair are dating, the relationship is casual.

Rodgers has been in Green Bay, Wisconsin, to stay “very focused on his season,” which came to an end on January 24 when the Packers lost to Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Championship Game.

Meanwhile, Woodley has been working on-set in Montreal to film ‘Misanthrope’, according to Canada Live. The crime movie is being directed by Damian Szifron.

Spilling the beans about their relationship, another source told E! News, “They have seen each other and been in touch. They continue to talk and see each other when they can. They are both focused on their careers but they also make time for each other.”

Rodgers was previously in a relationship with former race car driver Danica Patrick, although the two split in July of last year after two years together. Patrick’s representative had confirmed the news of their split to People magazine at the time. The two had first confirmed they were a couple in January 2018.

Rodgers has also previously dated actress Olivia Munn for three years. They split in 2017. Woodley was last linked to rugby player Ben Volavola, whom she reportedly met in Fiji while she was filming the movie ‘Adrift’.

In January 2018, the actor confirmed her relationship with Volavola by sharing a photo on Instagram stories of her kissing the rugby player. The pair then made their red carpet debut at the film’s premiere in May 2018. Woodley, however, said that they had split in an April 2020 interview with the New York Times.
