  • Rohit and Ishant Sharma ruled out of first two tests

Opener Rohit Sharma and fast bowler Ishant Sharma have been ruled out of the first two Tests against Australia and their playing in the remaining two Tests of the four-Test series is still under suspicion.

Rohit is recovering from a hamstring injury and Ishaan has a hamstring injury. Both suffered this injury during the IPL in the UAE. Ishant had left the IPL and returned home, while Rohit returned home after making his team Mumbai Indians the IPL champions for the fifth time. Both were undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore.

Team India head coach Ravi Shastri recently said that if both the players have to take part in the Test series starting on 17 December, then they will have to reach Australia by 26 November. Only a few days after Shastri’s statement that news has come out that Rohit and Ishant have dropped out of the first two tests. His participation in the remaining two Tests will depend on the prompt action of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

  • Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma may be out from Australia tour: Report

Confusion remains about the play of the batting batsman Rohit Sharma and fast bowler Ishant Sharma in the Test series against Australia. Both of them were included in the last three Tests against the Kagaru team, but both players are in rehab at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. The medical team of NCA is monitoring them.

Rohit and Ishant’s fitness state was discussed with the NCA team in a recent meeting. There is not much improvement in fitness of both. Informed team management, selectors and BCI have been informally informed about this. It will also be a big shock because Virat Kohli will return home after the first Test under Paternity Leave.

Earlier, India’s head coach Ravi Shastri had expressed apprehension about Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma participating in the upcoming Test series. He had said that if he wants to play Test, he will have to reach Australia in the next few days. Both Rohit (left hamstring) and Ishant (side strain) are on rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) due to a muscle strain. The Cricket Board of India (BCCI), however, has not yet given the date of his departure to Australia.

If both of them had left India on Monday, they would have been able to participate in the practice match to be played between Australia-A from December 6 to 8, given the 14-day mandatory quarantine in Australia, but it does not appear to be happening now.

  • Shreyas Iyer may be reserve batsman for Tests

With the availability of Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma for the first Test in Australia becoming uncertain by the day, the Indian team management is contemplating retaining a player from the white-ball squads currently in Australia.
TOI has learnt that Shreyas Iyer may be asked to stay back as reserve batsman for the Test series.
The selectors, while announcing the squad, didn’t specifically mention a replacement for Virat Kohli, who will be back home on paternity leave after the first Test in Adelaide which starts on Dec 17. It was assumed that Rohit would be an automatic replacement for Kohli. But with uncertainty growing over Rohit’s recovery from a hamstring injury, there could be a case of having another player as a reserve.
“There won’t be any fresh player coming in after Rohit and Ishant’s arrival. The selectors picked a jumbo squad for this reason. If the need arises, Shreyas could be asked to stay back,” a BCCI source said.

“As of now, the white-ball players are supposed to fly back before the Test series but there’s one change in the plans,” the source added.
The Test team currently has eight batsmen which includes Kohli. If Rohit fails to recover in time or a batsman gets injured in the middle of the tour, then the team management will have very few options. The fast-bowling department, on the other hand, has five pacers. It will be interesting to see if the team management opts to retain a pacer from the white-ball squad for the Tests as a cover for Ishant.

  • India will get smoked 4-0 in Tests if Virat Kohli does not set tone before leaving: Michael Clarke

Former Australia captain Michael Clarke has warned that India could be “smoked 4-0” in the Test series if skipper Virat Kohli does not set the tone in the white-ball games before his departure.
The 32-year-old Kohli has been granted paternity leave by the BCCI to be with his wife for the birth of their first child. He will lead the team in the white-ball series, comprising three ODIs and as many T20s, and the opening Test at Adelaide before heading back home.
“These one-dayers and these Twenty20s is where Virat Kohli can really stand up and lead from the front,” Clarke said on ‘Sky Sports Radio’ on Tuesday.

“If India don’t have success in the one-dayers and the T20s, they are in deep trouble in the Test matches and they’ll get smoked 4-0, in my opinion,” he added.
Clarke feels that despite featuring in only one Test, the talismanic Indian skipper could still play a huge role in the outcome of the red-ball series by dominating in the limited-overs games.
“I think the tone he sets with this team will play a big role when he leaves, after the first Test match.”
The much talked about contest between the two best sides in the world would begin on November 27 with the ODI series-opener in Sydney.

  • David Warner on Virat Kohli missing Test series

Before India travelled to Australia for the upcoming series, a huge news came from the BCCI camp – India captain Virat Kohli was granted paternity leave and will only play the first Test of the four-match Test series starting December 17th. The decision meant that vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane may have to step up as captain to lead the Indian team Down Under in the longest format.

While cricketing pundits have acknowledged Kohli’s decision to spend time with his family as the correct one, the fans continue to wonder if the Indian team can pose a challenge to the Australian team in Kohli’s absence.

Australia start opening batsman David Warner was asked in a virtual press conference facilitated by the official broadcaster Sony, regarding his thoughts on Rahane leading the Indian team. In his reply, Warner said that Rahane would bring a different approach to captaincy than Kohli.

  • Xbox Series X controller support coming to iPhone

Apple is set to be working with Microsoft to enable support for controllers of Microsoft’s next-gen consoles Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S that recently went on sale worldwide. The news was confirmed in a document on Apple’s website that mentions the controllers that iPhones support.

The new controller may not have been as improved as the Dualsense PlayStation 5 controller but it is still an improvement over its predecessor. It may also be true that iOS 14.3 beta version already has the support to connect the new Xbox controllers as there have been reports that it has support for Sony’s Dualsense controller.

Apple may have not marketed the iPhones as devices that are capable of hardcore gaming until recently but even the ones that were launched two-three years ago are capable of running FPS games at ease. However, not everyone is satisfied with the touch controls and these gamers often resort to connect controllers and also mount them to game more effortlessly.

  • Australia tops in percentage, India slips to second place

The ICC World Test Championship table has been reshuffled on the basis of percentage of points and India has lost its top position. Although the Indian team has the highest number of 360 points, in terms of percentage, Team India has slipped to second place while Australia has secured the first place. India has played four series so far while Australia has played three series. Australia reached the top with 82.2 per cent. The percentage of India is 75.00.

England is third with 60.83 percent, New Zealand is fourth with 50.00 percent and Pakistan is fifth with 39.52 percent. The final of the World Test Championship will be played between the top two teams in this table. The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Thursday that the decision of the two finalists of the World Test Championship (WTC) will be decided on the basis of percentage of points which is now approved by the ICC Board.

This new rule was recommended by the ICC Cricket Committee headed by Anil Kumble at the quarterly meeting of the ICC starting on Monday. ICC Chief Executive (CEO) Manu Sahni said that both the Cricket Committee and the Chief Executive Committee have approved this new system. In the new calculation, in the ranking made on the basis of percentage of points, Australia has topped the list with 82.2 percent while India has come second with 75 percent. • England cricket team will visit Pakistan for the first time in 16 years

The English cricket team is going to tour Pakistan for the first time in the last 16 years, under which it will play a series of two T20 matches in Karachi in October next year. This T20 series between England and Pakistan will be part of the preparations for the T20 World Cup going to be held in India next year.

The Pakistan Cricket Board had earlier invited England to tour in January but this was not possible. England was already scheduled to play the Test series in Sri Lanka in January. The cricket boards of the two countries agreed to the series in October. England will tour Pakistan with all the good players of their team. Both matches will take place on 14 and 15 October at the Karachi National Stadium. The England team will arrive in Pakistan two days before the series and after playing the series will leave for India on 16 October for the T20 World Cup.

England has not visited Pakistan since the year 2005. England played a three-Test series and a five-match ODI series during their tour of Pakistan in 2005 and lost both series. After the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in 2009 in Pakistan, Pakistan’s home series against England was held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2012 and 2015 for security reasons.

Now international cricket is slowly turning to Pakistan. Sri Lanka played a Test series in Pakistan earlier this year and Zimbabwe also toured the country recently. This season’s Pakistan Super League also took place in Pakistan, whose final was held in Karachi on Tuesday. These series and tournaments have shown high-level security arrangements made by the PCB with government assistance and it has proved that Pakistan is safe for visiting foreign teams.
