East Delhi’s Patparganj Industrial Area breathed a sigh of relief as police nabbed a serial mobile thief near Anand Vihar ISBT. The operation not only recovered the stolen phone but also exposed the culprit’s extensive rap sheet.

Recent weeks saw a surge in phone thefts, prompting the local police to launch a targeted crackdown. With oversight from the SHO and ACP Madhu Vihar, a special squad was deployed, featuring Head Constables Pradeep and Sheeshpal on round-the-clock surveillance.

Eyewitness Muzaffar was at the busy bus stand to see off his uncle. Standing by the exit, engrossed in his mobile, he became an easy target. A sneaky thief yanked the device and bolted, but Muzaffar’s cries pierced the air.

Patrolling officers, just moments away, sprang into action. Their relentless chase through the crowded area culminated in the thief’s capture. The victim’s phone was found on him, leading to the arrest of Aman alias Bandar from Nand Nagri.

At 28, Aman dropped out after sixth grade and scrapes by as a daily wager. Drugs and booze have fueled his descent into crime, with police uncovering links to 39 prior cases since 2017. From loot and snatching to arms and excise offenses, his record is alarming.

Patparganj police have filed charges under BNS provisions. This bust underscores the effectiveness of proactive policing in high-risk zones, deterring potential thieves and restoring public confidence.

Delhi’s bustling metro network has long been a hunting ground for snatchers, but Ghitorni police struck back decisively. On February 13, two e-FIRs rocked the station over iPhone thefts executed with eerie precision. A dedicated ‘crack team’ sprang into action, unraveling a pattern of deliberate collisions and opportunistic grabs from distraught victims.

Under the sharp eyes of SI Rajendra and Raj Kumar, investigators pored over hours of CCTV from key stations like Hauz Khas. A shadowy figure emerged on tape, shoving victims and fleeing with their devices. Armed with tech tracking and informer intel, the team raided Uttam Nagar, nabbing Daljit Singh alias Dalbir (42), a fruit vendor by day.

In custody, Dalbir spilled the beans: addiction drove him to specialize in iPhone heists, hawking stolen goods for quick drug money before repeating the cycle. His rap sheet is damning—nine FIRs since 2008, spanning Ghitorni (six cases), Rajiv Chowk, Shastri Park, and Paharganj stations.

Now in judicial remand, the probe widens to his relatives and possible gang links. This bust highlights the scourge of metro snatchings in the capital, where crowds provide perfect cover. Delhi Police vows ramped-up vigilance, blending human intel with tech to dismantle such networks and restore commuter confidence.

Delhi’s North District police achieved a major breakthrough, arresting a serial snatcher who targeted an American visitor in Chandni Chowk. The daring theft occurred late January 15, 2026, when Jing Teng, 37, had his mobile yanked by a youth on a scooter outside Omaxe Mall. Alerted swiftly, Kotwali Police registered an FIR and launched a high-intensity probe.

Given the international angle, a special unit was formed led by Inspector Gyan Prakash, with oversight from Inspector Sumit Kumar and ACP Shankar Banerjee. The team meticulously reviewed footage from more than 50 CCTVs, pinpointing the accused mid-act. Informer networks activated, leading to the identification of Tousif alias Toshif, resident of Gali Sakko Wali in Shahganj, a known offender from Kamla Market jurisdiction.

On January 19, early morning, officers cornered him in GB Road during preparations for a fresh heist. Under questioning, he admitted to the Omaxe Mall snatch using his dad’s Honda Activa and a prior incident on January 12 at Old Delhi Railway Station. Recovered items included the victim’s Apple iPhone 14 Pro, the vehicle, attire, and footwear. Once a meat vendor and school dropout, his narcotics habit propelled him into crime, amassing nearly 10 cases over 15 years post his October 2025 jail release. The crackdown underscores Delhi Police’s resolve against urban crime.
