  • Zach Galifianakis, Elizabeth Banks, Sarah Snook to lead Apple movie ‘The Beanie Bubble’

    LOS ANGELES: Actors Zach Galifianakis, Elizabeth Banks and “Succession” star Sarah Snook are set to headline “The Beanie Bubble”, an upcoming movie from Apple Original Films.

    The movie, which will be co-directed by Kristin Gore and her Grammy Award-winning husband Damian Kulash, will also feature Australian actor Geraldine Viswanathan in a pivotal role, Apple said in a press release.

    “The Beanie Bubble” is based on Zac Bissonette’s book “The Great Beanie Baby Bubble: Mass Delusion and the Dark Side of Cute”.

    It is inspired by the craze in the ’90s that saw the plush animals toys collected as financial investments due to their prospective resale values.

    The story pulls back the curtain on the absurdities and injustices of the American Dream – particularly the female relationship to it.

    It’s a celebration of the women who helped power Ty Warner’s success, whose strengths and good instincts shaped and amplified the phenomenon, but whose names are not on the Beanie Babies’ heart-shaped tags, as per the official logline.

    The film will be produced by Brian Grazer, Ron Howard and Karen Lunder of Imagine Entertainment.

    Galifianakis will also serve as an executive producer on the project.

  • Sarah Snook replaces Elisabeth Moss in horror film ‘Run Rabbit Run’

    Succession fame Sarah Snook has joined the horror-thriller Run Rabbit Run, replacing Elisabeth Moss as the lead. The latter left the project due to a scheduling conflict.

    The Handmaid’s Tale director Daina Reid is helming the film, which centres on a fertility doctor whose strong belief in the cycle of life is put to the test as her young daughter begins to show increasingly strange behaviour. Novelist Hannah Kent wrote the script from an original idea developed with Carver Films. The additional casting of the film is yet to be revealed. The project is being produced by XYZ Films.

    Pre-production of Run Rabbit Run will begin sometime this month and the film will be shot in Victoria and South Australia.

    MELBOURNE: “Succession” star Sarah Snook has revealed that she tied the knot with comedian and television host Dave Lawson in February in an intimate ceremony. The Australian actor said she lived with Lawson during the COVID-19 lockdown last year and that’s when they “fell in love” after years of being good friends.

    “We’ve been friends since 2014, lived together, travelled together, always excited to see each other, but totally platonic. We’ve just never been single at the same time. I proposed and we got married in February in my backyard,” Snook, who plays Shiv Roy on “Succession”, told Vogue Australia in a cover interview.

    Snook’s “Succession” co-star Ash Zukerman, whose character once had an affair with Shiv, served as the witness at her wedding. The third season of “Succession” premiered on HBO on October 17.
