iPhone 12 Was Top Selling 5G Smartphone in October Despite Just 2 Weeks on Sale: Counterpoint
iPhone 12 was the best-selling 5G smartphone in the world in October despite being on sale for just two weeks, according to research firm Counterpoint. The report tracks market share of the top 10 5G smartphone models globally, and found that the iPhone 12 captured 16 percent market share in just two weeks of sales, followed by iPhone 12 Pro at 8 percent, pushing Samsung to third place with only 4 percent marketshare for the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G. Apple typically launches its new iPhone models in September, but the iPhone 12 series launch was delayed to October this year. The phones went on sale halfway through the month, but saw huge demand, with the iPhone 12’s sales in two weeks being strong enough to put it into the ten top selling 5G phones since January.
Apple launched the iPhone 12₹ 76,900 series in October. It includes iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini₹ 69,900, iPhone 12 Pro₹ 119,900, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. The iPhone 12 and 12 Pro were up for pre-orders first and were made available in mid-October. But even though the two phones were on sale for only two weeks in the month, the report by Counterpoint states the iPhone 12 became the best-selling 5G phone in the world with 16 percent market share, followed by the iPhone 12 Pro’s 8 percent.

India is offering financial incentives to Samsung for setting up display factory
India’s one of the largest states, Uttar Pradesh, has confirmed that it will be providing financial incentives to the South Korean giant Samsung Electronics to set up a display factory in the region, which is expected to cost about $655 million.
In a statement given to the media, the state of Uttar Pradesh has claimed that the company is moving its factory from China to India. This is being viewed as a move that will help boost the Make in India initiative that aims to project India as a manufacturing hub.
Samsung will be getting 7 billion rupees in financial benefits for setting up the display plant. On top of that, the state government has also confirmed that the company will get an exemption from a tax payable on the transfer of land for the factory.
The unit is expected to be operational from next year, but the exact timeline is not yet known. Once the factory starts operations, it is expected to create 510 direct jobs. It’s noteworthy that Samsung already has the world’s largest mobile phone manufacturing plant in Uttar Pradesh, India.

Apple might be ditching the charging cable from the iPhone 13’s box: Report
During the launch of the iPhone 12 series, Apple announced that all iPhone 12 models and future iPhones would ship without a charging adapter and EarPods inside the retail box. Apple has always known to be a trendsetter and might have just set a new as reports suggest Samsung may follow suit.
However, the Cupertino tech giant may not stop there. According to a report by 9to5Mac, Apple surveyed some users as to whether or not they use the USB cable that arrives in the box. This could mean Apple might be preparing to take the USB cable out of the retail box for the upcoming iPhones.
To recall, Apple surveyed users before making the decision to take the USB chargers out of the retail boxes. And it seems like the company could be preparing to do the same with the cables.Additionally, the report claims that the survey also enquired whether users were satisfied with Face ID on the iPhone. The survey was sent to 9to5 Mac by a reader with questions about his experience with the iPhone 12 Pro Max. If users were not satisfied with Face ID and selected ‘no’, they were greeted by alternative options to share with Apple. These options included:

Samsung on Apple’s path, charger will not be available with this smartphone
Apple had decided not to provide chargers and earphones with the iPhone 12 and at that time big companies like Xiaomi, OnePlus and Samsung made fun of Apple. Now it is news that Samsung is also following the path of Apple. According to the report, Samsung Galaxy S21 is now going to sell without charger in many countries. According to the report of xda developers, the sale of Galaxy S21 in Brazil will now be without charger, although this has not been confirmed by Samsung yet. If this happens, Samsung will be the second company after Apple to not provide a charger in the box with the phone.
Let me tell you that Samsung had made fun of iPhone without charger on its Facebook page, but this post was later deleted. Now the Galaxy S21 has been seen in Brazil with no charger, but it has not yet been clear that in other countries also Samsung will sell the Galaxy S21 without charger or provide the charger together.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 20 and Z Flip 5G now come in red and white hues
Samsung thinks it has a simple way to spark smartphone sales going into the holidays: offer colors that were previously unavailable in the US. The company has unveiled a “limited” Mystic Red edition of the Galaxy Note 20 as well as a similarly rare Mystic White version of the Galaxy Z Flip 5G.
Both are available now and cost the same as their regular-hued counterparts. That may work in your favor, as Samsung is still offering deals that include a $150 instant rebate on the Galaxy Note 20 (plus up to a $550 trade-in and a $100 eCertificate) as well as savings up to $1,000 on the Galaxy Z Flip 5G if you exchange an older phone.
We had a mixed view of the Galaxy Note 20, and Mystic Red doesn’t change that. It boasts a great display, solid all-round camera capabilities, and that signature S Pen, but the 60Hz screen, lack of expandable storage, and “glasstic” back dampened our enthusiasm. With sale prices, however, it’s a considerably better value and may be an easier pick than the higher end Note 20 Ultra.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5G, meanwhile, is a subtle but welcome improvement over the original Z Flip, whether you get it in white or another shade. The 5G data is the obvious highlight, but it also makes the leap to a Snapdragon 865 Plus instead of the older 855. It’s just a question of whether or not you value a foldable phone enough to buy the Z Flip 5G over one of its more conventional counterparts.
