He parted ways with his former team and entered the auction, where Durban Super Giants secured him. This marks a significant turn in Markram’s career.

Markram made history at the SA20 2026 auction, with multiple teams engaging in a bidding war to acquire him. Durban Super Giants secured him for a record sum of 7 crore rupees, momentarily the highest bid of the SA20. However, South African star batsman Dewald Brevis later surpassed this record. Markram’s decision to enter the auction surprised cricket fans.
