    Sharma might not be featuring in the limited-overs series but the Mumbai batsman has been roped in for the Test series. With Rohit Sharma’s inclusion in India’s Test squad for the Australia series, it is likely that the opening batsman will also lead the team, after Kohli’s departure. Ajinkya Rahane, the Test vice-captain, could also be leading the squad in place of Virat Kohli. However, there has been no final decision on it yet. 

    Meanwhile, regular skipper Virat Kohli will be captaining the side in the first Test at the Adelaide Oval that will be played under lights on December 17.   • Rohit Sharma Begins Fitness Training for Australia Tour in NCA

    India batsman Rohit Sharma has begun his fitness training at the National Cricket Academy on Thursday, PTI reported. Other than Rohit, India’s Test squad will be eagerly waiting on the news of fast bowler Ishant Sharma’s fitness.

    On Wednesday, senior pacer Ishant Sharma, who is also doing his injury rehab at the NCA, bowled full tilt under the supervision of chief selector Sunil Joshi and NCA head Rahul Dravid.

    Rohit is not part of India’s limited overs squad for the Australia tour and selectors included him in the revised Test squad after he played two IPL games for Mumbai Indians besides the final. Though Rohit said he was absolutely fine, the BCCI felt he needed more time to recover from his hamstring injury he had suffered during the IPL, triggering a massive debate over his fitness status.

    Rohit had also scored a fluent 68 in the IPL final which his team won by a handsome margin.

    Rohit’s fitness has become even more crucial since regular skipper Virat Kohli won’t be available after the first Test in Australia as his wife Anushka Sharma is expecting.

    Both Ishant and Rohit will fly to Australia together and undergo a 14-day quarantine before joining the team.

    After the match, Suryakumar was asked about the mix-up in the middle with Rohit Sharma and the MI batsman said that he doesn’t mind sacrificing his wicket for his captain.

    “Rohit was batting very well at that moment. Most importantly he has been anchoring the innings a lot since first game. I don’t mind sacrificing my wicket for him at all,” Suryakumar said in the post-match interview.

    Defending champions Mumbai Indians will take on Delhi Capitals on 10 November at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. They aim to win record-extending the fifth IPL title this year as earlier they won the IPL trophy in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019.

    Trent Boult gave MI a dream start to the IPL 2020 Qualifier 1 by bagging two wickets in only his first over of the innings. After troubling DC batters extensively in his first two overs, the Kiwi pacer didn’t return to bowl having suffered a groin injury, sending chills down the spine of Mumbai supporters.

    In his first spell, Boult ended with figures of 2-1-9-2 and he was expected to partner Jasprit Bumrah with the ball in the death overs too but he had to leave the ground in the 14th over because of the injury.
