  • KJ Apa to play lead in motorcycle racing film

    KJ Apa, who is best known for playing Archie Andrews in the CW’s mystery drama Riverdale, and also been part of The Hate U Give, The Last Summer, I Still Believe, A Dog’s Purpose, and Songbird has been roped in to play the lead in the motorcycle racing film One Fast Move. Written and directed by multi-hyphenate Kelly Blatz, the production will begin in Atlanta later this June.

    Gulfstream Pictures’ upcoming film tells the story of an ex-soldier (Apa) searching for his estranged father for assistance in pursuing his dream to race Supersport motorcycles. During his training, he comes across a small-town aspiring singer who begins to break through the barriers his father’s absence had created.

    Apa will be reuniting with Gulfstream following the 2019 romantic comedy The Last Summer. Gulfstream Pictures’ Mike Karz and Bill Bindley are producing with Matt Luber and Lena Roklin of Luber Roklin Entertainment. 

  • CW renews The Flash, Superman & Lois series

    CW has renewed seven of its scripted series including The Flash, Superman & Lois, Kung Fu, All America, Nancy Drew, Walker, and Riverdale.

    While Kung Fu, Walker, and Superman & Lois will be back for their third seasons, All American has been renewed for its fifth season, Nancy Drew for a season 4, and The Flash for its season 9. Teen drama series Riverdale will be back for its seventh season. 

    According to reports, the final decisions about the remainder of CW’s slate will be made in May. These scripted shows include 4400 (the spinoff of All American: Homecoming), Batwoman, Stargirl, Charmed, Legends of Tomorrow, In the Dark, Legacies, Naomi, and Roswell, New Mexico.

    Meanwhile, there has been a batch of unscripted renewals including Penn & Teller: Fool Us and Masters of Illusion (both returning for their ninth season) and season 3 of World’s Funniest Animals.

  • Robin Givens to play recurring role in Batwoman Season 3

    Actor Robin Givens has been roped in to play a key role in the upcoming third season of the CW’s Batwoman. As the new series regular, Givens will play Jada Jet, a powerful, passionate and hardworking CEO for Jet Industries. Jada has worked her way through life’s ups and downs to climb her way to the top — all while being extremely protective over her impetuous son. She has a dark past that forced her to give up her first-born child, and she will do whatever it takes to protect her family.

    Last season’s finale episode saw Ryan Wilder (played by Javicia Leslia) fully take up the mantle as Batwoman, with Kate Kane leaving Gotham to search for her long-missing cousin, Bruce Wayne (Batman). The finale also revealed that Ryan’s biological mother, who was believed to have died in childbirth, is actually alive.

    Apart from Leslie, the upcoming season will bring back Rachel Skarsten, Meagan Tandy, Nicole Kang, and Camrus Johnson. However, original cast member Dougray Scott will not be returning. Givens is well-known for starring as well as directing a few episodes in CW’s hit series Riverdale. She is set to reprise her role as Darlene Merriman in the upcoming Head of the Class follow-up series. Her film credits include Head of State, The Family That Preys and the upcoming Mel Gibson, Charlie Hunnam-starrer Last Looks. Her other recent television recurring credits include The Fix and Ambitions.

  • Chris Mason joins cast of ‘Riverdale’ Season 5

    Actor Chris Mason has been roped in to play Veronica’s husband in the fifth season of Riverdale. The CW series, an edgy spin on the Archie Comics, premiered in 2017 and has since become a sensation amongst the youth. 

    With season 4’s story arc being cut short due to the pandemic, fans are excited as the initial episodes of the fifth season might bring that story to a close. 

    Post the wrap-up of the same, according to Screenrant, Riverdale’s story will take a leap, seven years into the future.

    In the future, Veronica (Camila Mendes) is married to Chad Gekko — a controlling, jealous husband who works on Wall Street. 

    Chris Mason will portray Chad, who will premiere on Riverdale from the fourth episode. Is Chad the villain of this new storyline? Season 5 has all the answers.

  • ‘Riverdale’ to introduce Chris Mason as Veronica’s ‘controlling’ husband in season 5

    LOS ANGELES: Actor Chris Mason has joined the cast of popular series “Riverdale” for its season five. Mason is known for appearing in shows such as “Broadchurch” and “Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists”.

    He will essay the role of Chad Gekko, the “controlling and jealous” husband for Camila Mendes’  Veronica Lodge. An Alpha dog, Chad is threatened by Veronica’s life in Riverdale, especially her friendship with Archie (KJ Apa).

    According to Deadline, Mason’s character will be introduced in the fourth episode of the fifth season. “Riverdale”, based on the characters from Archie Comics, also features Cole Sprouse, Lili Reinhart, Casey Cott and Madelaine Petsch.

    The CW show is produced by Warner Bros Television and CBS Television Studios, in association with Berlanti Productions.
