  • Have to inculcate belief in everyone that each Indian is safe here: NSA Doval on religious animosity

    By PTI

NEW DELHI: National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval on Saturday said some people try to create animosity in the name of religion and ideology, which affects the entire country and everyone, especially religious leaders, will have to work together to counter this.

Doval also said efforts are required to clear misunderstandings and make all the religious bodies in the country feel that they are an integral part of it.

The NSA made these remarks in the presence of religious leaders at an interfaith conference organised by the All India Sufi Sajjadanashin Council (AISSC) at the Constitution Club here.

“Some people try to create animosity in the name of religion, which adversely affects the entire country and also has ramifications internationally. We cannot be a mute spectator to this. To counter religious animosity, we have to work together and make every religious body feel a part of India. In this, we sail and sink together,” he said.

At the conference, religious leaders under the aegis of AISSC passed a resolution to “ban organisations like the Popular Front of India (PFI)” and other such fronts that have been “indulging in anti-national activities”.

The resolution also said targeting any god, goddess or prophet during discussions or debate by anyone should be condemned and dealt with in accordance with law.

Doval said there is a need to reach out to everyone, include them in the fight against radical forces and tell them that there is no place for hatred and agitation against any religion in India.

“There is a need to create an emotion that we will not let the unity of the country be compromised. We have to inculcate a belief in everyone’s heart that each Indian is safe here. We have to be organised, we have to raise our voice and rectify the mistakes,” he said.

Doval told the religious leaders that they have to play a major role in improving the atmosphere in the country.

“Every religion has contributed to the growth of the country. We have to think what kind of India we will give to our future generations. You (religious leaders) have bigger responsibilities to shoulder,” he said.

The aim of the conference was to have discussions among the representatives of different faiths about the “growing religious intolerance” in India.

The resolution passed by the conference proposed to create a new body, inclusive of all faiths, to spread the message of peace, harmony and fight against radical forces.

“Organisations like the PFI and any other such fronts, who have been indulging in anti-national activities, pursuing a divisive agenda and creating discord amongst our citizens, must be banned and action should be initiated against them as per the law of the land,” the resolution read.

  • Kamal Nath’s “proud to be a Hindu, but not a fool” statement sparks political row in Madhya Pradesh

    By Express News Service

BHOPAL: A political controversy has erupted in Madhya Pradesh over the state Congress president Kamal Nath’s statement, “I’m proud to be a Hindu, but am not a fool.”

The ex MP CM and former union minister made the statement reportedly while addressing a state level advocates meeting in the state party headquarters on Sunday, a day before senior Supreme Court advocate Vivek Tankha filed his nomination papers for re-election to the Rajya Sabha on Monday.

“I say with pride that I’m a Hindu, but I’m not a fool. For us religion isn’t the basis of politics, but is linked to our sentiments. We dont make political event out of religion, as it’s an event only for our individual families,” Nath had reportedly said on Sunday.

He also recounted that when he built the Hanuman Temple housing giant Hanuman idol in his parliamentary and assembly constituency Chhindwara some years back, he did not publicise it as a political event.

However, Nath’s statement was enough to give the ruling BJP the much needed ammo to target state Congress leadership over the issue.

“Neither the BJP nor the state government has ever considered him (Nath) a fool. May be it’s due to internal issues within his own party, that he(Nath) has made the unwanted statement. All we can say is that the forum he chose to explain about being a Hindu wasn’t appropriate. Be it Kamal Nath or Rahul Gandhi, they’re just Chunavi Hindus (Hindus at times of polls) who wear a janeyu or sport a tilak only at times of polls,” state’s home minister Narottam Mishra said.

“Kamal Nath is an Ichchadhari Hindu (wishful Hindu), who remains silent over the issue of Ram Setu, goes silent when his friend (Digvijaya Singh) questions the date of foundation of Ram Temple at Ayodhya,  is in silence on 1984 genocide of Sikhs, conviction and punishment to Yasin Malik and also mute over the Gyanwapi-Kashi Vishwanath issue,” Mishra, also the state government spokesperson said.

However, defending his leader’s controversial statement, the state Congress spokesperson Ajay Singh Yadav said, “it’s not a matter of being a smaller or bigger Hindu. By his statements, our leader meant to convey that it’s the BJP which by linking religion with politics is fooling people.”

Yadav also questioned that if the BJP is so committed to Hinduism, why did induct ex SP MP Naresh Agrawal (who in 2017 linked alcohol with Hindu gods and goddesses) in its ranks in UP.

Amid  the war of words between the Congress and BJP over Nath’s “proud to be Hindu, but not a fool” statement, the ruling BJP seems to have found a way out of the attack on the state government by Nath and his party over OBC reservation in upcoming local bodies polls in the state.

  • Religion should not be used to create politics: UP minister Swami Prasad Maurya

    By PTI

BALLIA (UP): Uttar Pradesh Labour Minister Swami Prasad Maurya has stressed that religion is a matter of faith and it should not be made a matter of politics.

The minister, while talking to newspersons on the sidelines of BJP’s ‘Prabudh Varg Sammelan’ here on Thursday, also said the party has nothing to do with “abba Jaan, chacha Jaan and bhai Jaan’ and it is going to the people in upcoming elections to the Uttar Pradesh Assembly on the basis of its welfare and development schemes.

“No God should be associated with politics. God is a matter of faith. All the people have the freedom to believe in God according to their faith. The matter of faith should not be mixed with politics,” Maurya said.

He also attacked Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on “his love of Lord Ram and Shri Krishna”.

Referring to the recent statement of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait terming AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi as ‘chacha jaan’, he said the BJP is going to the public on the basis of its public welfare and development schemes.

“Those who do not have anything are taking the help of chacha jaan and abba jaan. BJP is not concerned with abba jaan, chacha jaan and bhai Jaan,” he said.

Recently, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, apparently attacking the Samajwadi Party, had said people who say “abba jaan” used to “digest” all the ration items earlier.

The CM’s comment in Kushinagar had sparked a controversy of sorts.

Claiming that the opposition parties have failed in UP, Maurya said it has become issueless and the people of the country and the state have rejected the Congress, SP and Bahujan Smaj Party (BSP).

It is only Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his development agenda and welfare schemes that are being discussed, he added.

  • Editorial :- Congress conspiracy vs nationalism Former Presidential Address on Nationalism

Former President Pranab Mukherjee joined the program of National Self-Service Association on June 7. He also addressed himself to the volunteers as a special guest. His full address was on national, nationalism and patriotism.
Discussing in this regard, he told a country, a flag is necessary. The Congress of today, ie Rahul Gandhi’s Congress, presented the draft of a separate flag for Karnataka, just before the Assembly elections in Karnataka during his reign in Karnataka. Now the Congress should think about it.
Prime Minister Modi talks about 125 crore Indians only when everyone explains the mantra of development, none of the appeasement is appealing. The Congress should also think about this.
Pranab Mukherjee also said in his speech that India’s culture, civilization is centuries old. People from many religions, sects and culture came to India from time immemorial and they were adopted by Indians and they remained this.
The Congress will have to think that India is not a new under-construction nation. That is, India is not only after 1947. India is not the only kingdom of Nehru and Gandhi dynasty. Therefore, in the true sense, Congress should understand the address of Pranab Mukherjee.
At the time of Gujarat elections and at the time of Karnataka assembly elections, the fatwa issued by Christian Archbishop should be against the nationalism and against the nationalism that Vatican has endorsed. The fatwa issued by Deoband at the time of election did not match the address which Pranab Mukherjee had addressed.
Today’s present Congress will have to leave politics of violence. The way a lion has a human’s blood, it can not live without it. In the same way, the Congress has been in power etc. It can not live without power. Therefore, it is intent on supporting violence or encouraging violence.
The way in which the vulture sees only where there is a body of a deceased person, in the same way the President of the Congress and his leaders remain in the eyes of the person whose body is dead. He does not consider the corpse of the human being as the body of any Indian, and is interpreted by a person of a dalit, some or any other religion. All this does to the politics of divide and rule for votes.
The conspiracy was hatched against the nationalists. During the Manmohan Singh government, the then State Minister of State, RPN Singh, gave a detailed account of the banned Maoist Communist Party and its 74 Front organizations in response to a question asked in the Lok Sabha. The name of the Committee for Release of Political Prisoners (CRPP), which was involved in the release of Maoists, was also included. It is mentioned in the letter of the people of this organization that getting legal and financial help from the Congress. Now the question arises that why those organizations which were considered by their government as Naxalites and terrorists, were provided support from the party. The letter has been told about the cooperation that Congress gets from the release of Maoist leaders arrested in the letter. According to the letter, some Congress leaders have talked about providing legal and financial support. In this regard, it has been instructed to take the services of Jignesh Mewani. According to CHI, the Congress party was allegedly providing financial resources to the Maoists. During the raid of Pune Police, a letter was received which was written on 2 January 2018 by Comrade Ru. The Maoists are referring to the Congress in the letter written to the Yalgard Council, that the Dalit movement will help in furthering the movement. Along with that, he says that Jignesh Mewani and Omar Khalid will work on the bridge between them and the Congress. Not only this, Ambedkar’s nephew Prakash Ambedkar has also been told about how he wants to take advantage of the Dalit movement together with the Maoists.
Today, as it has been published in the newspapers that the conspiracy of killing Prime Minister Modi and both Koregaon violence are linked and the Congress has a hand in this conspiracy.
Therefore, the Congress should think again that it is justified or unfair to take the path of violence to gain power.
