WASHINGTON: American actor Ashton Kutcher just signed up for his first rom-com film in 10 years.

As per People magazine, the 43-year-old actor has been cast alongside Reese Witherspoon in the upcoming Netflix film ‘Your Place or Mine’. The movie is about two best friends living on opposite coasts, who swap houses for one life-changing week.

Kutcher is most known for his leading man roles in romantic comedies like ‘No Strings Attached’, ‘What Happens in Vegas’, ‘A Lot Like Love’ and ‘Just Married’.

His last turn in the genre was the star-studded 2011 Garry Marshall ensemble feature ‘New Year’s Eve’, starring opposite Lea Michele. He’s since come off a four-season run of his Netflix series ‘The Ranch’, which aired its finale last January.

Aline Brosh McKenna wrote the screenplay and will make her feature directorial debut with the film. Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter are co-producing under the actor’s Hello Sunshine banner, alongside Jason Bateman and Michael Costigan’s Aggregate Films and their first-look deal with Netflix. • Reese Witherspoon says she got ‘panic attacks’ before filming ‘Wild’

    By PTI
LOS ANGELES: Hollywood star Reese Witherspoon has revealed she had panic attacks prior to working on her 2014 movie “Wild”.

The 45-year-old actor had collaborated with filmmaker Jean-Marc Vallee for the critically-acclaimed feature, which was based on the 2012 memoir by Cheryl Strayed.

The story followed the author’s 1,100 mile solo trek around the Pacific Crest Trail following a series of intense personal struggles.

In a conversation with Tracee Ellis Ross for the Interview Magazine, Witherspoon revealed that she underwent hypnosis to help deal with the panic attacks.

“I was so scared to do that, Tracee. I had hypnosis, I was so scared. I was having panic attacks for three weeks before I started,” Witherspoon said.

There were a lot of aspects that made the actor nervous about the project, one of them was being in front of the camera alone.

“There was the nudity, sexuality, and drug-use aspect, but also being alone on camera with no other actors. I hadn’t ever been alone in scenes for days and days. There were probably 25 days of the shoot where I had no other actor opposite me. It was just me and a camera and a backpack,” Witherspoon said.

However, the actor, who had also produced the movie through her banner Hello Sunshine’s subsidiary Pacific Standard, remained committed in telling Strayed’s story through the film.

“Cheryl Strayed’s book was so beautiful and sacred to me because it spoke to me so deeply about how we as women have to save ourselves.”

“There’s no mother or father coming to save us. There’s no spouse. I thought it was radical that at the end of the film, she ends up with no family, no money, no job, no partner, and she’s happy,” Witherspoon said.

The “Morning Show” star now wonders if she will ever work so hard on a film again.

“I don’t know if I’ll ever work that hard again, but it changed me on a cellular level,” Witherspoon said.

“Wild” was met with universal acclaim upon its release in 2014.

The film was nominated for two Oscars — best actress for Witherspoon and best supporting actress for Laura Dern.

  • Media treated me and Britney Spears so differently that it felt arbitrary: Reese Witherspoon

    By Express News Service
Actor-producer Reese Witherspoon says that as a young mother she too was incessantly chased by the paparazzi but the media had arbitrarily decided to brand her ‘good’ and singer Britney Spears ‘bad’.

Witherspoon divorced Ryan Phillippe in 2008. Around the same time, Spears split from Kevin Federline. They both had two young children with paparazzi camping outside their homes. “My children will tell you stories about being in preschool and people climbing on the roofs of our cars,” Witherspoon said in a recent interview.

The actor said watching Framing Britney Spears made her feel like one of the lucky ones because she and stars like Jennifer Garner were considered ‘good’, while Spears and Lindsay Lohan were branded ‘bad’.

“What if the media had decided I was something else? I would be in a totally different position,” Witherspoon said. “I want to say it’s my decisions or the career choices I made, but it felt very arbitrary. And kind of sh***y.”

Framing Britney Spears, the New York Times Present documentary, looks back at how the popularity of the singing star, who burst on the American music scene in the late 1990s and early 2000s, led to her mistreatment in the media with paparazzi documenting minute details of her personal life.

In 2007, the year she got divorced from Federline, Spears had a meltdown and shaved her head with electric clippers at a salon in LA as paparazzi photographed her.
