  • Revenue officer ready to stop illegal storage and transportation of minerals

    For effective control on illegal storage and transportation of minerals in the state, quick action is being taken by the joint team of officials of Revenue and Mineral Department. In this series, a team has been constituted to investigate complaints of illegal sand storage in Dhamtari district, and according to the instructions of Collector Shri Jayaprakash Maurya, a continuous investigation is being done at different places by pressing on different places.
    Three teams of revenue department officials have been formed to verify the complaints received regarding illegal sand storage. Today five teams were punished by the team. During this time the spot was investigated at Mahavir Rice Mill on Sihawa Road, where illegal storage of sand was not found. Similarly, the team did not find sand storage during the Dabish at Raj Rajeshwar Rice Mill at Village Muzgahan, though small amounts of sand were found, which seemed to indicate that sand was probably stored in the east. Similarly, 3752 cubic meters of sand was found stored in Magendra fly ash bricks at village Soram. When asked in this regard, only a small amount of sand was shown to the Pit Pass by the operator, which was found not to match the amount of sand stored. The seizure was taken by the team terming it as illegal sand storage.
    Under the direction of the Collector, a team of revenue officials found the sand to be stored on government land in Sarangpuri village, while wire fencing or brick wall enclosure and security and first aid facilities were not found in the storage site. Similarly, the team found lack of basic facilities like security, medical treatment, besides non-compliance of the conditions of license in village Amethi. The sarpanch of the village and Kotwar were not informed about the information of the storekeeper on this. The three teams, which conducted the inspection of illegal sand storage sites, were led by Dhamtari Tehsildar Shri Pawan Singh Thakur, Naib Tehsildar Shri Vinod Kumar Sahu and Chandra Kumar Sahu, including Revenue Inspector and Patwari respectively.

    The teenager was taken off late on after a heavy collision with the post after getting back brilliantly to help his defence. Pedri was replaced by Miralem Pjanic but played down the whack after the game and said he would have continued “if it were up to me.

  • New Zealand’s Greg Barclay elected ICC chairman

    New Zealand’s Greg Barclay was elected as the new independent chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) after a second round of voting. He succeeds India’s Shashank Manohar who stepped down earlier this year.

    Barclay, an Auckland-based commercial lawyer, has been a director of New Zealand Cricket (NZC) since 2012 and is currently NZC’s representative on the board of the International Cricket Council. He will step down from his position at NZC to lead the ICC in an independent capacity.

    He was a director of ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2015 and is a former board member and chairman of the Northern Districts Cricket Association. Greg is also an experienced company director holding board positions with various New Zealand and Australian companies.

    Commenting on his appointment Greg Barclay said: “It is an honour to be elected as the Chair of the International Cricket Council and I would like to thank my fellow ICC Directors for their support. I hope we can come together to lead the sport and emerge from the global pandemic in a strong position and poised for growth.

    “I look forward to working in partnership with our Members to strengthen the game in our core markets as well as grow it beyond that ensuring more of the world can enjoy cricket. I take my position as a custodian of the game very seriously and am committed to working on behalf of all 104 ICC Members to create a sustainable future for our sport.

    “I’d like to thank Imran Khwaja for his leadership as acting ICC Chair during a difficult period for the game and I look forward to continuing a close working relationship with him in the future.”

  • Raipur: Godhan Nyaya Yojana: Vermi compost manufacturing process started in Gouthans: Will be ready for sale soon

    Under the state government’s ambitious cowherd justice scheme, dung purchased from cattle ranchers and farmers has started the process of making vermi compost in the Gothans of the state. Preparations for making vermicompost from cow dung are also underway in Gauthans of Surguja district. The members of the Gothan committee formed here and women of the self-group are engaged in preparing the vermi compost by putting cow dung in the vermi stitch.

    Officials said that women of the group have started making vermicompost compost at Gauthan of Keshavpur village panchayat of Ambikapur district district panchayat. These women of the group have received technical training through Krishi Vigyan Kendra to make manure from earthworms. In 86 Gouthans of the district, cow dung is being purchased from cattle ranchers by the Gowthan Committee under the Godhan Nyaya Yojana from July 20. 86.13 quintal cow dung has been purchased at Keshavpur Gauthan. To make vermicompost, refilling is done by putting dung and gurva waste into a rectangular pit. An appropriate amount of earthworm is added to it. Vermi compost is about 75 percent ready in Gothan. In the next 10 days, fully vermi compost will be available for sale. This will give additional income to the women of the group.
