  • Maribel Verdú, Sophie Okonedo join Apple original ‘Raymond and Ray’

    Maribel Verdú and Sophie Okonedo are the newest additions to the cast of Raymond and Ray, Apple’s new original film. Also starring Ewan McGregor and Ethan Hawke, the film narrates the story of two estranged half-brothers living in the shadow of their unloving father.

    Sophie OkonedoDirected by Rodrigo García, the film is set to follow the titular characters (McGregor and Hawke, respectively), as they cope with the passing of their father and see the grieving process as an opportunity to reinvent themselves, having escaped the shadow they’ve lived under their entire lives.

    Verdú joins the cast as Lucia, partner and caretaker to Raymond and Ray’s father and Okonedo, on the other hand, is set to play Kiera, a nurse and source of comfort to the characters’ father at the end of his life.Verdú is also a part of The Flash, in which she plays Nora Allen, mother of titular superhero Barry Allen. 

    Oscar nominee Okonedo on the other hand has The Wheel of Time and Death on the Nile, alongside Kenneth Branagh and Gal Gadot in her kitty. The film is produced by Oscar winner Alfonso Cuarón, as well as Bonnie Curtis and Julie Lynn, who produce through Mockingbird Pictures. No release date has been announced for the project.

  • Ewan McGregor, Ethan Hawke to lead Apple original movie ‘Raymond and Ray’

    LOS ANGELES: Hollywood stars Ewan McGregor and Ethan Hawke have teamed up for Apple Original movie “Raymond and Ray”.

    Written and directed by Rodrigo García, the feature film is backed by Amazon Studios, Apple said in a statement.

    The film follows half-brothers Raymond (McGregor) and Ray (Ethan Hawke) who have lived in the shadow of a terrible father.

    “Somehow, they still each have a sense of humour, and his funeral is a chance for them to reinvent themselves. There’s anger, there’s pain, there’s folly, there might be love, and there’s definitely grave-digging,” the official plotline read.

    Oscar-winning filmmaker Alfonso Cuaron will produce the movie alongside Bonnie Curtis and Julie Lynn.

    Gabriela Rodriguez and Shea Kammer will serve as executive producers.

    McGregor most recently starred in Warner Bros’ “Birds of Prey”.

    The actor is set to reprise his iconic role of Obi-Wan Kenobi for a Disney Plus series due in 2022.

    Hawke is currently receiving acclaim for co-writing and starring in Showtime limited series “The Good Lord Bird”.

    He will next feature in Marvel Studios’ series “Moon Knight”.
