This follows the Allahabad High Court’s approval of his bail in the high-profile Quality Bar land grab case in Rampur. The court’s decision, made on September 18, paved the way for Khan’s release. The release order from the Rampur court was received by jail authorities on Monday. While the initial release was scheduled for 7 am on Tuesday, it was delayed due to the non-payment of a court-imposed fine. His release is now expected after 12 pm, once the bond is submitted. However, according to reports, family members opposed the union. The situation escalated when Shakeel allegedly physically assaulted his family members, according to his wife, Shabana. The relationship deepened as Shakeel began spending considerable time communicating with his son’s bride-to-be. Shabana, who has six children with Shakeel, grew suspicious of his behavior, especially after witnessing interactions between Shakeel and the woman. Although Shabana’s initial concerns were dismissed by others, she and her son began gathering evidence against Shakeel’s conduct. Eventually, Shakeel’s son refused to proceed with the marriage, citing his father’s involvement with his fiancée. The son also claimed that his grandparents were aware of the affair and assisted him in getting married. Further, the son alleged that his father absconded with a significant sum of money and jewelry to marry the woman.

Abdullah Azam Khan granted bail, likely to be released from jail after 17 months

Samajwadi Party leader and former MLA from Rampur’s Suar seat Abdullah Azam Khan was granted bail by a special MP/MLA court here on Monday in a 2020 case, his lawyer said. The decision has paved way for Abdullah, veteran SP leader and former Uttar Pradesh minister Azam Khan’s son, to walk out of the Hardoi jail, where he has been lodged since October 2023.

MP/MLA special magistrate trial court Judge Shobhit Bansal granted him bail in a case related to enemy property registered in 2020. Abdullah Azam Khan’s advocate Zubair Ahmad Khan said, “This was the only case pending against him after the Supreme Court granted him bail on February 10, 2025. Now, with this bail approval, the way for his release is clear.” Recently, Rampur Police had also sought to add two additional charges against Abdullah Azam Khan, he said. However, the court dismissed police’s plea on Monday and reserved bail order for Tuesday, the lawyer added.

Abdullah Azam Khan had been in jail since his conviction in a separate case.
