  • India will give befitting reply if any ‘superpower’ hurts national pride: Rajnath Singh

    By PTI
BENGALURU: India does not want a war but its soldiers are capable of giving befitting reply if any ‘superpower’ hurts the country’s pride, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Thursday amid the eight-month-old border standoff with China.

“We don’t want war and we are in favour of protecting everyone’s security but I want to say this in clear terms that if any superpower wants to hurt our pride then our soldiers are capable of giving them a befitting reply,” Singh said.

The Defence minister insisted that India never wanted conflict with any nation and preferred to maintain peace and friendly ties with its neighbours.

“It always wanted peace and friendly ties with its neighbours because it’s in our blood and culture,” he said at the fifth Armed Forces Veterans’ Day at the Headquarters Training Command of the Indian Air Force in Bengaluru.

Referring to the standoff with China, he said the Indian soldiers displayed exemplary courage and patience and if that can be narrated then every Indian will feel proud.

Singh hailed the Indian soldiers who showed extraordinary courage in “eliminating terrorists on the Pakistan soil”.

Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat was also present.

  • Biggest indigenous procurement, CCS approves procurement of 83 HAL manufactured fighters costing Rs 45,000 crore

    Express News Service
NEW DELHI: In a big boost to the indigenous defence manufacturing, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) on Wednesday approved the procurement of 83 indifenously manufacture Light Combat Aircraft. Ministry of Defence stated officially, “The Cabinet met under the Chairmanship of Prime Minister in New Delhi on 13 January and has approved procurement of 73 LCA Tejas Mk-1A fighter aircrafts and 10 LCA Tejas Mk-1 Trainer aircrafts at the cost of Rs. 45,696 crore along with Design and Development of Infrastructure sanctions worth Rs.1,202 crore.” Elaborating on the capabilities of LCA Mk-1 over the current variant of LCA, the MoD listed, “This aircraft is equipped with critical operational capabilities of Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) Radar, Beyond Visual Range (BVR) Missile, Electronic Warfare (EW) Suite and Air to Air Refuelling (AAR) would be a potent platform to meet the operational requirements of Indian Air Force, IAF.” These will add to operational roles, enhance the combat ability and maintainability.

As per the plan, the first flight of the Tejas Mark 1A will take place by the end of 2022.

The CCS chaired by PM Sh. @narendramodi today approved the largest indigenous defence procurement deal worth about 48000 Crores to strengthen IAF’s fleet of homegrown fighter jet ‘LCA-Tejas’. This deal will be a game changer for self reliance in the Indian defence manufacturing.
    — Rajnath Singh (@rajnathsingh) January 13, 2021

DRDO initiated the programme of indigenous aircraft in 1983 and had obtained permission to initiate a programme to design and develop a Light Combat Aircraft. Indian Air force has two squadrons of LCA Tejas operational at present.

Mr R Madhavan, CMD, HAL calling the decision as a big boost to the Tejas program has received a major shot in the arm in boosting the Atamanirbhar drive in the aerospace and aeronautics.

Mr R Madhavan added, “The production rate for this increased requirement by IAF is being augmented by HAL from 8 to 16 aircraft per year through the creation of state-of-the-art new facility in Bengaluru.”

LCA-Tejas program follows the system integrator model and has created a national aerospace ecosystem with the participation of approximately 560 companies from large to SMEs which encompass all the facets of aircraft design and manufacturing.

“It is estimated that as the LCA MK1A program kicks-off, it will generate primary jobs to a tune of 5000 across the country. The programme will foster local industry and drives skill development of young Indian work force.” Added Mr R Madhavan. Light Combat Aircraft Mk-1A variant is an indigenously designed, developed and manufactured state-of-the-art modern 4+ generation fighter aircraft. “It is the first “Buy (Indian-Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured)” category procurement of combat aircrafts with an indigenous content of 50% which will progressively reach 60% by the end of the programme.”, informed MoD. This decision is seen to act as a catalyst for the indigenous manufacturers, small and big. “About 500 Indian companies including MSMEs in the design and manufacturing sectors will be working with HAL in this procurement. The programme would act as a catalyst for transforming the Indian aerospace manufacturing ecosystem into a vibrant Atmanirbhar-self-sustaining ecosystem.”

The Cabinet has also approved infrastructure development by IAF under the project to enable them handle repairs or servicing at their base depot so that the turnaround time would get reduced for mission critical systems and would lead to increased availability of aircraft for operational exploitation. This would enable IAF to sustain the fleet more efficiently and effectively due to availability of repair infrastructure at respective bases. The manufacturing of Light Combat Aircraft by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, HAL will give a further push to Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative and boost indigenisation of defence production and the defence industry in the country.

  • On eve of talks with farmers, Narendra Singh Tomar meets Rajnath Singh to discuss govt strategy to end deadlock

    By PTI
NEW DELHI: A day before the crucial seventh round of talks between the Centre and protesting farmer unions, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday and discussed the government strategy to resolve the current crisis at the earliest, sources said.

Tomar discussed with Singh “all possible options” to find a “middle path” to resolve the crisis, sources added.

Singh, who served as agriculture minister in the erstwhile Atal Bihari Vajpayee cabinet, has emerged as a key troubleshooter and is working mostly behind the scenes on this issue.

Protesting farmers who have been camping at Delhi borders for the last 39 days braving bone-chilling cold and now rains have threatened to intensify their protest if their two major demands — repeal of the three new farm laws and legal backing for the minimum support price (MSP) — are not accepted by the government in the January 4 meeting.

Rains since Saturday night led to waterlogging at the agitation venues, but the unions asserted that “we will not move from here until our demands are met”.

After five rounds of inconclusive talks, the government and 40 farmer unions reached some common ground during the sixth round of negotiations on December 30 to resolve protesting farmers’ concerns over rise in power tariff and penalties for stubble burning, but the two sides remained deadlocked over the main contentious issues of the repeal of the three farm laws and a legal guarantee for MSP.

On January 1, Tomar had told PTI that the government is hopeful of a “positive outcome” at its next meeting with farmers’ unions on January 4 but refrained from predicting whether the seventh round of talks will be the last one.

Asked whether he expects the January 4 meeting to be the last one, the minister said, “I cannot say for sure now. I am not an astrologer. I am hopeful that whatever decision would be arrived at (in the meeting) will be in the interest of the country and of the farmers.”

Last week, protesting farmer unions issued an “ultimatum” that they will march into Delhi with a “tractor parade” on the Republic Day if their demands are not met in the next round of talks.

“The farmers’ movement delivered an ultimatum to the Government of India and announced that farmers will march into Delhi on January 26,” Sankyukta Kisan Morcha, an umbrella body of around 40 protesting unions, had said in a statement.

Thousands of farmers have been protesting at various borders of the national capital for more than a month demanding repeal of the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act.

Enacted in September 2020, the government has presented these laws as major farm reforms and aimed at increasing farmers’ income, but protesting farmers have raised concerns that these legislations would weaken the MSP and mandi systems and leave them at the mercy of big corporates.

The government has maintained these apprehensions are misplaced and has ruled out repealing the laws.

While several opposition parties and people from other walks of life have come out in support of the farmers, some farmer groups have also met Agriculture Minister Tomar over the last few weeks to extend their support for the three laws.

  • Rajnath Singh said – If the agricultural law has not proved beneficial, then we will amend it after one year.

The response of Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has come for the first time on agricultural laws. Rajnath Singh said, ‘Let the agricultural laws be implemented for one year. If these do not prove to be beneficial for the farmers, then we are ready to make necessary amendments in it.

Addressing a rally in Delhi on Friday, Rajnath Singh said, ‘I appeal to all the farmers who are protesting to come forward to discuss agricultural laws. Every issue can be resolved through negotiation. The Prime Minister wants talks with farmers to continue. He said, ‘Our government will never do anything that is not in the interest of farmers.’ Rajnath Singh said, ‘Those who are sitting on the dharna are farmers born in peasant families. • Editorial: – Sushma Swaraj did the block on Twitter.

Trolling case: Nitin Gadkari said – Sushma Swaraj has no relation with passport dispute, Troll is wrong.
Before that, Home Minister Rajnath Singh has also said that it is not appropriate to troll Sushma ji.
I am unable to understand why the dispute between the ministers of Modi Government and the fans of the Modi Government is going on in connection with the passport dispute. We are biased towards democracy and press freedom. On the contrary, the family members and their leaders behave against it.
Sushma ji also made a poll on this troll topic. Trolling more than 50 percent in it is inappropriate and less than 50 percent of the people are rightly told.
Encouraged by this, the responses from the government side seem like the views of the family members.
When a young Indian child from Modi ji in London asked, what is the secret of his good health? Then PM Modi called criticism the secret of his fitness. He said, ‘I eat 1-2 kg of rituals every day for almost 20 years.’
On the contrary, their ministers are hurt by hearing their criticisms of their own ideologies, and critics of their government, whether they are Mehbooba Mufti or journalist Swati Chaturvedi, or any leader of the Congress, gets stunned by their praise. It is reasonable to say so far.
PDP President Mehbooba wrote: If the Foreign Minister could not even escape from the troll, what other people in the country should be expected?
Commenting on Mehbooba’s tweet, journalist Swati Chaturvedi wrote: Deer Nirmala Sitharaman, Maneka Gandhi, Rajnath Singh and Nitin Gadkari, when your former colleague Sushma Swaraj can condemn a fierce attack, why are you silent? He further wrote that I did not name Irani in this because they have their own troll army.
Following the tweet of Swati Chaturvedi, there was a comment from Gadkari and Rajnath Singh. Nirmala Sitharaman and Maneka Gandhi have also received comments.
Is the woman’s insult to women troll? Is Swati Chaturvedi’s remarks regarding Smriti Irani not insulting women?
Sushil (former Youth Congress leader), who is serving the sentence in the Tandoori Kand, has been out of jail today. While forgetting this, the Congress has also been enjoying the passport dispute.
Passport Officer Vikas Mishra was then transferred and sentenced. But what punishment was given to an officer who was imprisoned by Mohammad Anas Siddiqui and Tanvi Sethani in an imprisonment?
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj blocked blogger Sonam Mahajan for his criticism of Twitter. Indeed, Sushma Swaraj has been constantly running trolling for a few days, for issuing a passport to a Hindu-Muslim couple.
Sushma, who is fighting alone against Trolls, blocked Sonam Mahajan on Twitter for criticizing her. Sonam Mahajan had asked Sushma on Twitter to question him.
Sonam tweeted, “They came to give good governance. These lo brothers, good days have come. Sushma Swaraj, I was your fan and fought against those who spoke against you. Now you can also reward me by blocking me too. Will wait. “
