  • Maghi Punni Fair in Prayag Rajim of Chhattisgarh from 27 February: Dr. Charandas Mahant will inaugurate

    The Maghi Punni fair in Rajim, known as Prayag of Chhattisgarh, will start from 27 February and continue till Mahashivratri on 11 March. There will be a special festival for Triveni Sangam Snan on 27 February Magh Purnima, 6 March Janaki Jayanti and 11 March Mahashivratri. The fair will be inaugurated on February 27 at 5 pm by the Speaker of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, Dr. Charandas Mahant. The inauguration ceremony will be chaired by Religious Trust and Religion Minister Shri Tamradhwaj Sahu. Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Shri T.S. Singhdev, School Education Minister Dr. Premasai Singh Tekam, Commerce and Industry Minister Mr. Kavasi Lakhma, Culture Minister Mr. Amarjeet Bhagat, Leader of the Assembly, Shri Dharamlal Kaushik, Lok Sabha MP Mr. Chunnilal Sahu and Mr. Sunil Soni, Parliamentary Secretary, Shri Vikas Upadhyay, Chintamani Maharaj and Kunwar Singh Nishad, MLAs Sarvashri Dhanendra Sahu, Amitesh Shukla, Damrudhar Pujari, Ajay Chandrakar and Smt. Lakshmi Dhruv will be present. Mrs. Smriti Neeraj Thakur President Zilla Panchayat Gariaband, Mrs. Pushpa Jagannath Sahu President Janpad Panchayat Fingeshwar, Mrs. Devanandani Sahu President Janpad Panchayat Abhanpur, Mrs. Jyoti Diwakar Thakur President Janpad Panchayat Magarlod, Mrs. Rekha Raju Sonkar President Nagar Panchayat Rajim and Mr. Dhanraj Madhyaani Chairman Nagar Palika Parishad, Gobra Nawapara will be present.
    It is noteworthy that Rajim situated on the banks of Mahanadi is a famous shrine of Chhattisgarh. It is also called ‘Prayag’ of Chhattisgarh. Lord Vishnu is revered in the famous Rajiv Lochan Temple here. A huge fair is organized here every year from Magha Purnima to Shivaratri. Due to the confluence of Mahanadi, Pari river and Sondhur river here, this place is called Triveni Sangam of Chhattisgarh. In this fair which runs from Maghi Purnima to Mahashivratri, devotees can enjoy daily the Shri Rajivalochan Temple, Shri Kuleshwar Mahadev, Sri Mahaprabhu Vallabhacharya Ji Prakatya Sthal Champaran, visit to ancient temples, sermons and sermons and cultural programs.
