At a landmark event in Jaipur’s Birla Auditorium, Rajasthan inked key MoUs with top institutions including Hyderabad’s English and Foreign Languages University and the National Skill Development Corporation under the Foreign Language Communication Skills Program.

Central Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan lauded the spirited youth of Rajasthan, crediting their natural talents in diligence, creativity, enterprise, and cultural integration. Drawing inspiration from PM Narendra Modi, he observed a paradigm shift: ‘The modern youth values skills as much as, if not more than, academic degrees.’

The minister foresaw a job boom from the proposed EU free trade deal, especially for those fluent in international tongues. Beyond conversation, languages foster societal bonds and comprehension.

The New Education Policy-2020 marks a revolutionary stride towards Viksit Bharat, championing multilingual proficiency and worldwide perspectives. Proficiency in French, German, Japanese, Korean, or Spanish promises enhanced employability. Pradhan confidently predicted that Rajasthan’s rich legacies, from Prithviraj Chauhan epics to folklores, would gain international acclaim through translations.

Opportunities abound in Japan and Korea across tech, trade, and marketing, powered by linguistic prowess. State Minister Jayant Chaudhary reinforced the dual approach: mother tongues for cultural roots and confidence-building in primary education, foreign languages for global dialogue.

CM Bhajan Lal Sharma slammed past paper leak scandals that eroded youth trust, contrasting with his administration’s spotless record of 351 transparent exams. ‘Our mission: empower youth to generate employment, not chase it,’ he affirmed, quoting Swami Vivekananda to motivate language learning for national and global success.

These MoUs deliver practical training in high-demand languages, vital in a connected era for roles in MNCs, global bodies, and abroad. They bridge gaps for tourists, investors, and businesses.

With tourism flourishing in Rajasthan—a magnet for global travelers—multilingual expertise is golden for guides, hospitality pros, agents, and startups, fueling economic growth.

Rajasthan, land of forts and palaces, hides a quirky spiritual gem that challenges conventional temple norms. The Karni Mata Temple in Deshnoke, near Bikaner, is home to an army of 25,000 rats revered as holy beings. Dubbed the ‘Temple of Rats,’ its most intriguing ritual involves partaking in prasad that’s been nibbled by these creatures, considered the purest form of blessing.

As you enter, the air buzzes with activity. Rats – known endearingly as ‘kabha’ – freely explore every inch, from altars to thresholds. Far from revulsion, pilgrims welcome their proximity; a rat crossing your path is hailed as good fortune, promising success and protection.

Offerings of jaggery, rice, and milk are laid out daily. The scraps left by the rats become coveted prasad, packaged for devotees to take home. Believers swear by its miraculous powers, attributing cures, windfalls, and harmony to this sacred morsel.

Rooted in a poignant myth, the temple honors Karni Mata, a 15th-century mystic seen as Durga’s avatar. When her stepson drowned, she implored Yama for his return. Compromising, Yama reincarnated him and fellow boys as rats, granting them refuge here forever. This explains the veneration of the temple’s rodent residents.

White rats, scarce and special, are prized sightings, akin to divine apparitions. Visitors flock year-round, especially during festivals.

Maharaja Ganga Singh commissioned this opulent structure around 1920, featuring shimmering marble facades and ornate silver gates depicting epic narratives. Amid Rajasthan’s royal heritage, Karni Mata stands as a testament to faith’s boundless forms, captivating all who witness its living legend.

The IIFA Awards 2025 held in Jaipur on March 8-9 have become a flashpoint between the ruling BJP and opposition Congress. Opposition leader Tikaram Jully accused the state government of spending Rs 100 crore of public funds on the event, while development projects for temples like Khatu Shyam ji and Govind Dev temple were stalled. Jully also raised questions about the absence of several A-list film stars from the event, including Madhuri Dixit, and caused a stir by calling her not an A-list actor. He later clarified that he was referring to the changing dynamics of the industry.
The Congress now demands transparency on how the money was allocated and spent. Meanwhile, BJP leaders defend the expenditure, arguing that the IIFA Awards boosted Rajasthan’s tourism and created new employment opportunities. State BJP president Madan Rathore dismissed the allegations, urging Congress to account for the funds spent during their tenure on similar events.
