  • Rajasthan schools to resume classes for 6 to 8 from September 20

    JAIPUR: The regular classes for students of 6 to 8 will resume from September 20 in government and private schools with 50 per cent capacity, according to the fresh guidelines issued by the Rajasthan government on Friday.

    School activity for Class 1 to 5 will resume from September 27 with 50 per cent capacity.

    The state government had already started classes for students of 9 to 12 from September 1.

    The guidelines don’t allow conducting the morning assembly prayer and opening of school canteen.

    0’ guidelines issued by the Home Department, there will be a night curfew in entire state from 11 pm to 5 am every day.

    The order will come into effect from September 20.

    Now, 200 guests will be allowed to participate at weddings and other marriage-related functions.

    The government and private offices have been allowed to run with full staff while maintaining Covid protocol, including wearing mask, using had santiser and maintaining physical distance.

    The cinema halls and multiplexes have been allowed to run with 100 per cent capacity from 9 am to 10 pm whereas yoga centre and gyms can be opened from 6 am to 10 pm with staff having had at least one dose of vaccination.

    Animal fairs will be allowed from September 20 with prior permission from district collector.

    Swimming pools have been allowed to open from September 20 with staff having been administered at least the first dose of vaccine.

    Several other relaxations were also given in the guidelines.

  • Rajasthan schools to reopen for classes 9 to 12 on September 1; SOP issued

    JAIPUR: Schools in Rajasthan will reopen for classes 9 to 12 from September 1, and a detailed standard operating procedure (SOP) issued on Tuesday will have to be strictly followed, the state’s Education department said.

    The department has also decided to reduce school curriculum by 30 per cent, and students will be evaluated every month now, School Education Minister Govind Singh Dotasra said here.

    “Due to COVID-19, classes in schools could not resume in the last three months, which led to disruptions in studies.

    Also, there is a need to reduce the curriculum by 30 per cent in all schools of the state.

    The decision has been made,” he said.

    “The department has made preparations for a possible third wave of COVID-19, and we have now decided to take tests every month to evaluate students.

    The results of these tests will be used to evaluate students whenever the need arises in the future,” Dotasra added.

    The minister expressed hope that a coronavirus guideline will soon be issued by the Centre so that schools can be opened for young children.

    The state government is in touch with the Indian Council of Medical Research, and the chief minister repeatedly discusses the situation with experts and doctors, he said.

    Any further decision will be taken considering the situation, Dotasra added.

    He said the SOP issued by the department should be followed, and teachers must have taken both doses of the vaccine.

  • Schools for classes 9-12, other educational institutes to reopen in Rajasthan from September 1

    JAIPUR: Schools for classes 9 to 12, universities, colleges and coaching institutes will reopen in Rajasthan from September 1, according to a state government notification issued on Thursday.

    However, only 50 per cent of students will be allowed to attend classes in each session to maintain the COVID-19 protocol.

    Classes will be conducted in online mode only for students of classes 1 to 8.

    According to the notification, all government and private schools for classes 9 to 12, universities, colleges and coaching institutes will reopen from September 1 in Rajasthan.

    The educational institutes were closed due to lockdown in view of the second wave of the coronavirus in April this year.

    According to the guidelines issued by the Home department, all the teaching and non-teaching staff of coaching institutes should be fully vaccinated (completed both doses of COVID-19 vaccine) whereas the drivers and others providing transport facility to teaching and non teaching staff of school/colleges/ universities should get at least first dose of vaccine.

    The students who attend regular class will have to submit written consent from parents/guardians and no student will be forced to attend offline class.

    The facility of online classes will continue for those who do not attend the regular classes, the notification read.

    No morning assembly will be allowed in schools whereas all other guidelines related to COVID-19 for maintaining social distancing and hygiene will have to be followed, it said.

    The students will be allowed to enter the premises after screening for COVID-19.

    The state government had formed a ministerial committee for holding discussions about the reopening of schools.

    The committee recently submitted its report with recommendations to the chief minister following which the decision was taken.

  • Rajasthan government to reopen schools from August 2

    JAIPUR: Schools are all set to reopen in Rajasthan which were closed due to COVID-19. Education Minister Govind Singh Dotasara has announced the opening of all schools in the state from August 2 by tweeting after the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday evening.

    The government has decided to start classes in schools, colleges and universities. Education Minister Govind Singh Dotasara said that a separate SOP for opening school wills be issued by Home Department in a day or two.

    “We had proposed to the Chief Minister that schools are closed for almost two years and education of backward sections of children is being disrupted in rural areas, so all schools should be opened, which has been approved,” said Dotasra.

    He added that at present there is no risk of COVID-19 in young children and there is also no clarity about the third wave of COVID. “If the third wave comes, then schools can be closed again in view of the circumstances at that time, but for the time being, all the schools will be opened from August 2,” he clarified.

    Dotasra empasised that all COVID-19 guidelines will be followed in schools and not more than 20 children will be accommodated in a class room. “The health and education of the children will be taken care of and the department will issue guidelines in this respect within a couple of days,” he said.

    Schools, colleges have been closed for students since March 2020.  In the meeting of the Council of Ministers, there was a detailed discussion about starting classes in various educational institutions including schools, colleges, universities.  

    The Council of Ministers sought the opinion on opening schools and colleges from experrs who showed a positive attitude on this. It was agreed in the Council of Ministers that educational institutions should be opened by following the COVID-19 protocol and taking all the precautions.

  • Classes V-XII to reopen in Punjab today; January 18 date for Rajasthan

    CHANDIGARH/JAIPUR/DEHRADUN: All schools for Class V to XII will reopen in Punjab on Thursday, while higher educational institutions, coaching centres as well as schools start functioning from January 18 in Rajasthan. Universities and colleges in another northern state, Uttarakhand, will reopen in the first week of February. 

    All these states will ensure restrictions apart from the SOPs related to Covid for reopening schools, colleges and universities. In Rajasthan, schools will only allow Classes IX to XII students, while final-year students of degree courses will attend classes in colleges and universities.

    Punjab school education minister Vijay Inder Singla said the government has decided to reopen schools from January 7 following the persistent demand of parents. Schools timings have been fixed from 10 am to 3 pm. Singla said the education department had taken feedback from the school heads and, besides ensuring safety of the children, they have also suggested the department to reopen the schools before the annual exams for final revision of studies.

    After a review meeting, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot announced that educational institutions could start functioning in the improved scenario which is better than about a month ago.  The Covid recovery rate is 96.31% in the state, with some districts reporting almost no cases. Classes will only have 50% of the total strength of students on each day on an alternate basis.

    However, medical colleges, dental colleges, nursing colleges and paramedical colleges will reopen from January 11 in view of the upcoming plan for Covid vaccination. Teachers will also be given special training by the health department, said Rajasthan officials.

    The Rajasthan government’s decision is being widely welcomed in the coaching hub of Kota even as many parents struck a wary note on allowing their children to go out for classes. “We will enforce all protocols prescribed by the government,” said Naveen,  Maheshwari director, Allen Career Institute.

    State seeks inputs from schoolsThe State Education minister Vijay Inder Singla said following the CM’s directions, all school authorities have been asked to strictly comply with Covid precautions. The government had taken feedback from school heads.

  • Schools, colleges to reopen in Rajasthan from January 18

    JAIPUR: Schools, colleges and other educational institutions will reopen in Rajasthan from January 18, after remaining closed for nearly nine months due to the COVID-19 lockdown, according to an official statement issued on Tuesday.

    The decision to reopen schools for the students of classes 9th to 12th, those in the final year in colleges, coaching institutes and government training institutes was taken by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot during a review meeting.

    Medical College, Dental College, Nursing College and Paramedical College have been directed to reopen from January 11, taking into consideration COVID-19 vaccination.

    The chief minister said social distancing and other health protocols, including using face masks, should be taken care of in all institutions.

    Gehlot was reviewing the COVID-19 situation in the state through video conference.

    He said the cases of new strain of COVID-19 in the country and the state are of concern.

    “Any kind of negligence towards it can create a big crisis. In view of this, special attention should be kept on travellers coming to the state from other countries, including those affected by this virus,” the chief minister said.

    He said that due to the new virus strain, a terrible situation has risen in England and lockdown had to be imposed again.

    “Taking lessons from the UK, precaution should be taken in Rajasthan,” Gehlot said.

    The chief minister said the condition of coronavirus in Rajasthan is “very much under control with the best management and cooperation of the people”.

    The COVID-19 recovery rate has risen to an all-time high of 96.31 per cent, he said.

    Gehlot directed the officials to ensure that preparations for vaccination in the state is completed in a mission mode.

    “The entire database of health workers should be uploaded as soon as possible for vaccination,” the chief minister said.

    He said only authentic and substantive information about the vaccine should be circulated in the media.

    “Unverified information can cause unnecessary misconceptions among people,” he said.
