  • 38 Rajasthan MLAs take first shot of COVID-19 vaccine

    JAIPUR: Seventy-seven people, including 38 MLAs, took their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine on Monday at the Rajasthan Assembly.

    Minister of State for Higher Education Bhanwar Singh Bhati said the country and the state are on the verge of being liberated from COVID-19 but the number of infections has started increasing.

    “Therefore, I will urge the people of the state that there are no side effects. Everyone should get vaccinated,” Bhati said.

    Minister of State for Medicine and Health Dr Subhash Garg said the general public was becoming fear-free as ministers, legislators and public representatives were getting vaccinated.

    Deputy Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathore got the vaccine first.

    He was followed by former Speaker and MLA Deepender Singh Shekhawat, legislators Babulal Nagar, Amin Khan, Rajkumar Sharma, Narayan Singh, Balwan Poonia, Gyan Singh, J P Chandelia and frontline workers.

  • Current and former Rajasthan MLAs to get coronavirus vaccine tomorrow

    JAIPUR: Current and former Rajasthan MLAs will be administered coronavirus vaccine along with their family members at the state Assembly in a drive beginning Monday.

    According to a senior assembly official, the vaccination drive will be carried out in phases and the sitting MLAs will be called for it on Monday.

    “It is for the first time that MLAs, ex-MLAs and their family members are being vaccinated at the state assembly. The move will motivate others and send a message among masses. It will also put an end to any kind of apprehension,” said Mahesh Joshi, Congress Party’s chief whip in the state assembly.

    Under the drive, the vaccine will be administered to those above 60 years of age and those above 45 having co-morbidities.

    On Friday, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and former CM Vasundhara Raje had got their first vaccination dose.
