Light to moderate rainfall is expected to persist in Jharkhand until July 6th, with heavy rainfall in some areas, according to a weather official. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ for heavy rainfall in parts of Gumla, Simdega, Khunti, and West Singhbhum districts until 8:30 AM on Thursday. A Yellow Alert has also been issued for Lohardaga, Latehar, Chatra, Koderma, Hazaribagh, and Ramgarh districts until 8:30 AM on July 4th. Ranchi, the state capital, and most parts of Jharkhand have been experiencing intermittent rainfall since Wednesday morning. Abhishek Anand, head of the Ranchi Meteorological Center, stated that the cyclonic circulation over southern Jharkhand and the influence of the monsoon are expected to bring light to moderate rainfall, with heavy rainfall in some places, until July 6th. Since the monsoon’s arrival on June 17th, the state has seen consistent rainfall. Between June 1st and July 2nd, Jharkhand received 382.3 mm of rainfall compared to the normal 206.5 mm, which is 85% above normal. Ranchi district recorded the highest excess rainfall at 203%, followed by Latehar at 182% and East Singhbhum at 158%.
